Our best right back...

Or Halls, Our best RB

rofl Please tell me you are joking  I would have Newton or Osborne ahead of Halls any day of the week. He has more natural talent than either of them but until he learns how to play in League 2 he wouldn't be in my side.

That's a bit harsh. He started off brilliantly, if you remember his performances against Chesterfield and Macclesfield. Then he got shunted to central midfield, where he didn't perform anywhere near as well. In his most recent games he was struggling with the injury which is now keeping him out.

Our best right back...

Why so much hate for Halls? Newton isn't a RB really, and Osborne is ok but nowhere near as good as Halls.

Our best right back...

Sadly Halls is indeed better than osborne but there again so is my next door neighbour. Scannell had a really good game considering match fitness etc. Williams has flattered to decieve so far and the jury is out. I would take a longer look at Scannell before deciding. Newton too, have mixed views over. He has had a few terrible games and one always wonders why players get free transfers from successful sides ( Pead for example............).

If he performs like he has in his last few games Osbourne will be no 1 RB. Whether he can do that is up for debate I guess :(

Halls has yet to prove that in my opinion. I would pick Karleigh everytime, Maybe Halls injury free can prove his quality.

Even taking into account your astonishing and illogical hatred of Osborne, even you must be able to concede (however begrudgingly that may be) that he performed exceedingly welll against both Port Vale and Darlington ?

Thank you Mr Kipling :D

Our best right back...

The best RB performances this season were Osborne at Port Vale and Halls at Chesterfield, anyone who wants to discuss this point or deny the factual brilliance behind it is a total spanner.:sorted:

Our best right back...

On performances for us this year, Newton, then Osborne, then Halls. I'm sure Halls has more skill than the other 2, but has taken too many unnecessary risks for my liking

Our best right back...

In my opinion, Adam Newton was very good at right-back for the first third of the season and I didn't really understand the decision to bring in John Halls to play there. Newton wasn't as effective when he was pushed forwards and even when he reverted to full-back, he didn't seem to perform as well.

I agree with the post above, the performance of John Halls at Chesterfield was excellent (although he failed to impress when he played in central midfield).

Although Karleigh Osborne has done well in the last few games when he played at right-back, a fully-fit Adam Newton has to be the obvious choice for me.

Who is your next door neighbour ?

No answer yet then Mr deleted ? :moo:

Right Backs....a bit of a problem for Andy, if you analyse it too much !

My New Order, in an ideal world

(1) Halls (has the quality, but currently injured..I'd back him to become our no.1 right back, when he returns if he stays for the season)

(2) Osborne (the current incumbent, undermined by the critical voices, who don't do away games. Distribution still hit and miss)

(3) Newton (hasn't set my world alight this season...looks better as a capable right midfielder)

(4) O'Connor (never got back his 2004-6 form, now proving his worth and battling qualities for the Bees in centre midfield, where I prefer him)

(5) Pead (not sure what he is still doing here, clearly unfancied by Andy, but can live on the wage we pay....not the worst player we have seen, but needs a run of very decent games to win over our trust again)

because Bees' fans have to have a hate figure --- it goes with the territory I suppose.

If not owner then the manager and if neither of them a player -and often a right back going all the way back to Alan Nelmes. (and yes, he started as a right back before moving to centre back!)

Sad really.

Our best right back...

o'connor if he is on form in that position, if not osbourne. or we could always ask Brian statham to come out of retirement!

Just checking there was no "U" - well done ;) :sorted:

I actually think Halls is pretty good... naturally decent touch etc.

Quite like Newton too as he has that desire (probably due to playing out of position) to get forwards...

I know people will say they both make mistakes but RB is actually quite a storng position for the club... KOC also played there in the division above when we almost got promoted so the strength is there...

I John Moncur with this statement.

Our best right back...

Usburne for me so far too.

Our best right back...

Paul Parker summed Osborne up very well i think during the Barrow game/disaster. I believe he said Osborne was a capable centre half but not a right back and i think i agree. Halls or Kev for me

Our best right back...

Hermann Göring by the look of things...

Er, he's dead now actually and I am assured by Luftwaffe expert Dr. Heinz von Beenz never actually flew over Brentford during the war.

Our best right back...

Osborne was solid and commanding in his defending again today. His attacking was pretty poor but as a defender his main focus for the game was spot on. Certainly the bets choice to play there for the time being at least

Our best right back...

He is good at getting rid of the ball when needed, any longer than 3 seconds time to think it all goes wrong but he definately was a lot better in the 2nd half

Our best right back...

A few "Ossie" moments when clearing/ distributing the ball perhaps but overall his defending was spot on, he has a lot pace so can recover much in the way Sodje used to and I thought his heading was excellent today.

Second half he played it much simpler when on the ball and he was pretty faultless

Our best right back...

To me Karleigh's currently a centre-half playing at right back. Our other immediate options appear to be KOC - playing well where he is, Halls - a little bit show boat on the ball or Craig Pead - who older readers may remember. Part of me says if ain't broken don't fix it but he (Karleigh) didn't have the best of games today, especially distribution/clearing the lines.

Our best right back...

I can't see AS changing things. Remember a while ago he talked about changing things and tightening things up and not being so gung ho.

Since then we have seen Halls/Newton and Poole replaced by Osborne and Wood.

It might not as aestheically pleasing but it is effective.

Quite, we have gone clear second in the table, score at least a goal every game and have a defensive record most teams would be very envious of.

Frankly until things start to be not so good I would keep things as they are. Maybe tough on Poole, Halls and co but those out there today have earned the right to keep their place especially Wood and Osborne.

Our best right back...

KO is a good defender, but crap going forward, he can barely pass a ball.
But i suppose a defender is there to defend, so we cant complain.
I Still prefer halls.

Our best right back...

Best right back = anyone other than KO. We all want him to be good but frankly he is so far off being even a competent league 2 player .

Our best right back...

Adam Newton was doing ok until he got injured.

Our best right back...

Michael Dobson is unattached at the mo . So if we brang him back , he would be our best RB . But as it stands , It has to be KO

Hello beedeleted please forgive me breaking my personal promise to reduce postings on the GPG, but I feel driven to it in this instance.

What does the lad have to do for you to earn your support and maybe even some slack.

Perhaps it is me and I should spend more time in my garden with my birds - but I do despair at times.

Anyway back to work and making the tea.
