Not sure how much support there would be for that view.
Personally, I agree with you. I think we could do a lot worse, even though he had gone off the boil a bit since Christmas (until yesterday that is...what a goal).
If Pompey get promoted and his contract is up, then I suppose it is conceivable he might be available. Having said that seeing as he is only 19, they would presumably expect a fee which rules us out of the deal which is a shame.
He has his critics, just look at the besotted board and see some of the cack written on there about him, but at least he knows where the target is and has scored 13 goals this year which is a pretty decent return for a 19 year old in his first season. Something some of our other so called strikers could take note of.

While on the topic of Rowan, even I suggested he should be rested for a couple of games! Oh well, that's why Walley picks the team and not me.

Don't see why Portsmouth won't make use of him in the PL , certainly as a squad player, or Div 1 if they do not go up.......they are not going to be awash with money.
He has ability, confidence and an eye for goal. With better players around him I think he would develop into a top striker. To be honest he should aim higher than Div 2.

I think the point German was making Stanley is that Pompey ARE going up. There is not much that is going to stop them now.
Given the highly competitive nature of the Premiershit, I would think Viney is going to find himself a long way down the pecking order and it may suit his career to try his luck elsewhere rather than struggling to even get into their reserve team.
At the very least we may be able to loan him again, if he wants to come and if people cease slagging him off unfairly as has been seen a bit recently. He will be an improved player next season I would think having had one full season under his belt.
Having said all that it is difficult to envisage Pompey staying up next year and he might prefer to stick around there and see what happens the following year when his contract is up.
We can only ask.............

He's in a similar position to the one Sidwell was in last year. I think he'd want to come back, but will probably end up moving to a Div 1 club for around 500k or so before the start of next season

Not so sure about that. I like Rowan Vine, but any Div 1 team who would be able to afford 500k, would look for a more proven player for that kind of money.

I don't think he'll come back.
A Premiership club, which Portsmouth will be, will want Vine to make a step-up. They know he can cut it at this level, he would score 20+ in a better team, and will want to see if he can do it a level higher.
If he is released on a free we may be in with a chance, but I can't see that happening.

He'll end up on loan at a div 1 team to prove himself, but may well end up egtting into the Pompey team, especially if harry Redknapp rates him.

Well, you can only release someone - whilst in contract - by coming to a settlement on the remainder of thier contract.
I think Rowan could command a transfer fee even in this depressed market, especially if he tops 20 goals this season...

Sidwell= £75k
Vine is not a better player and further from Pompey's first team than Sidwell was from Arsenal's.
We could always go for another season loan with someone else anyway. Who knows, we could be in a different division?

Interesting that Viney scored again when Big Mac came back into the team! Probably proves that he needs better service than he gets with Hunt? Macco puts himself around and defenders will try to take him on perhaps leaving Vine to do his thing.

I think it's more indicative of the fact that we need Hunt providing the service from the flank as opposed to playing up front. McCammon is paid to score goals and hasn't, no matter what else he gives to the team, the lack of goals this season is the root of our problems.
