Owusu's form?

I know he's not playing particularly badly now and it's not long since he last scored, but does anyone else think Lloyd's form seems to have dipped?
He has been on fire generally this season (even when he wasn't always scoring), so perhaps it's to be expected.
Anyway, let's hope he gets back to the top of his game for the run in.

Perhaps his form over Jan - Feb was of that high standard, even Michael Owen could keep up the consistancy Lloyd had achieved.
Just because he is not scoring, doesn't neccesarily mean he is not playing well.

had some thing he tried in the first half come off ,we'd be talking about it for years.He flipped the ball up and around the defender on the edge of the box with his right foot and went to volley it with his left.Didnt hit it cleanly though

Owusu hasn't scored for THREE games now - I say drop him.
As for that useless article Ingimarsson - he hasn't scored for at least HALF a game - come on Coppell lets off load him on a free too.

I wonder about some people on here, I really do.

It was a really good moment, shame he couldn't make proper contact. Flashbacks of Gazza's goal against Scotland in Euro 96 came flooding back to me!

At what point did PAZ say he (or anyone else) should be dropped? He just made an innocent point that he doesn't think Lloyd is playing as well as he has done. He even made the rest of his message positive, to show he's not having a moan.

There is no way that Lloyd should be dropped. he has been one of our most consistent players this season. His work rate and scoring cannot be criticised.

In any case, who do you suggest we put in up front if he were to be dropped?

My player of the seaeson. Would agree that Sat was probably not his best game, but was probably his first in last 5 games. Lloydie to bounce back tomorrow with 2 goals !!

Lloydy put lots of effort in on Saturday but seemed to lose his footing on several occasions - longer studs needed maybe.

Lloydy, check what the tide is doing up in Blackpool on Tuedsay and then wear either flip flops or waders!!

Why do people keep on thinking that anyone's suggesting Lloyd should be dropped?

Lloyd has had his best season in the famous red and white strip without doubt this season.

His improvement has been beyond belief. He has played consistently to a very high standard.

My original point was just saying that whilst he was still playing well, he wasn't performing quite to the peak he has done this season. I was merely asking if anybody else had noticed this, and whether there might be a reason for this - for example, is he tired?

There's no way he should be dropped, and he IS still playing well; he's just not playing exceptionally well, and obviously I'd like him to return to the absolute peak of his game...

Right, I hope I've made myself clear.

PAZ, agreed. He might well be tired and he could do with a couple of games where he might start on the bench in order to preserve him for the run in (and possibly the play-offs). Why not give Kevin O'Connor or Mark Peters a game while Lloydie rests? After all, if it is good enough for Giggs and Beckham, Owen, and Gerrard, it might be good enough for Lloyd!?

I bet no-one wants Lloydie to rest now.

Mark Burridge on the live match commentary tonight described his first goal as the best he had ever seen Lloyd score.

Looking forward to seeing it on the site in a couple of days.

I'm glad Lloyd has answered in style, since he will be getting my vote for player of the season (yes, even ahead of Ivar - that is, unless Ivar scores a last minute winner in the play-off final to send us up. In fact, if anybody does that, include Marky Mac if we happened to still be graced with his presence at that stage, they will get my vote). Anyway, I can't wait to see the goal, and he's scored some pretty good ones this season, so it must be good.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but PLEASE !!! No wonder we have to undergo Noades's rants about lack of support etc etc when you read some of the nonsense spouted on this board. Owusu - 20 goals, Burgess 18 goals, we currently possess the most potent and feared goalscoring combination in the Division. Do you relaise that since we started our recovery against Brighton 13 games ago they have scored an incredible 14 goals between them, 8 by Owusu and 6 by Ben.

They have improved and over-performed - just pray that some first division club doesn't offer Noades £50,000 for Owusu before next Thursday and give our august Chairman the chance to screw us up further.

Owusu might well be off in the close season but enjoy him while you can and rejoice in his progress and give him the support he merits.

But put it into context: Zamora is a cheating ****** who regularly falls over in the penalty area to win a penalty. (Did yoy see his antics last Saturday?) He then generally takes the penalties himself. How many times this season have Brighton been awarded penalties? Likewise Reading seem to get more than their fair share!

Take the penalties out of the equation and look at the all round game and ability and Lloyd is a far superior player than Zamora.

Who other people think? Would you swap Lloyd for Zamora? Quality yesterday Lloydie, now keep going and you will be banging in the goals for us in Division 1 next season. You Reds!

I actually think Lloyd is as good as Zamora seeing that when he played against us twice hew did nothing as was marked out of game. He did however show glimpses of talent. Lloyd on the other hand has been exceptional this year. He continues to devleop and stilll has a lot of potential

I'm more than pleased with Lloyd as opposed to Zamora. Without Zamora's penalties, Lloyd might now well be above him in the goalscoring chart (does anyone know how many penalties Zamora has scored?).

Lloydie has been superb this season, especially the last 2-3 months. He seems to improve with almost every game (allowing for the occasional not-so-good game, which is only to be expected for a striker). His touch has improved merkedly this season and his vision and passing, let alone his goals, have also been of a generally high quality.

He's now vying for the player of the season. It's certainly close between him and Ivar, although I would still give my vote to Ivar, who has been sheer class in defence, whilst scoring 6 vital goals to boot. If Lloydie can get an other 5 or 6 goals though...

Well done Lloyd. I'm looking forward to seeing your "goal of the season" from last night. Well done Bees, keep up the great work!

No offense to BBB, but I think Lloyd and Zamora up front would be a pretty lethal partnership...
There's no denying that Zamora is good, against us it's just been a question of him finding out that Darren Powell is better.

At work it is a running joke that every time I say that Lloydie is sh*t he scores (I must get out more for ways of entertainment I know) So if you lot dont mind I'll keep saying he plays like a donkey on heat.......

20 goals + god knows how many assists in a season-that speaks for itself. He is fantastic. Under Coppell he has become 1 of the best strikers in the lower leagues

Can he do it in 1st division? Only time will tell. I think that again he will take time to adapt, but he has the potential

I believe he can do it in division 1, he has proved he was Raw in div 3 made the setp up in div2 and can only go on from ther his touch has been superb this season
