I believe the 'stat' refers specifically to night game, not ones in which the floodlights flicker on at halftime. And it is oft-repeated in the press in Oxford - amazing when you realize they're pushing for promotion.

Do midweek games in May or at the start of August ever get through to the end without the lights coming on? I can remember some starting with them off and then them coming on later, but can't actually remember them staying off for the whole game.

Bee H it only proves one theory that the GPG administrators only employ really stupid people as moderators. Doesn't matter if they all go or have been to Oxford Uni they have no sense or people skills!! Also proves a theory that people at Oxbridge don't like football and don't understand it . . . Oh for god's sake! I'm sure I've seen KC used to mean Oxford's ground somewhere recently (though I don't know where or why), and I had no idea what Hull's new ground is called. I suppose you've never made a mistake? Same applies to you Jonno, you seem to be stretching this a long way! Saffrey could have been in Oxford anyway for any one of hundreds of reasons and might have decided to go to a football match while there, it's not totally beyond the realms of possibility that he might not fancy yet another trip to Wycombe. If you read my post carefully, you'll note that I asked why he was in Oxford, meaning that I had guessed he wasn't coming all the way down just to watch Oxford play. Getting to Wycombe from Oxford would be a nightmare without a car anyway, methinks.

If the GPG only employed really stupid people as admins, there's plenty more stupid people around that seem to have been missed!

Anyway back to the point, I would like Oxford to go up. I have a mate who is an Oxford supporter, and he thinks Andy Woodman is god! This is when I questioned his sanity, but if big Paul Smith is around next year we can show him a real goalkeeping God .

The "non-league team up the M40" also lay on a bus service to "the patch of grass at the end of an Industrial Estate" from the railway station

As far as I'm aware, the first stop on the Oxford Tube is in Hillingdon.

The station isn't on the same line as Oxford, Wycombe's on the Marylebone line.

well, seeing as I've spawned a big debate as to which football club I am visiting this weekend, my plans have been scuppered! I was hoping to ring Hull City today to buy a ticket (student discount in advance), but the lines were all busy with people buying tickets for some Rugby game tonight (vs. the Broncos as it happens).

I will have to ring up tomorrow 9am and see if they'd be nice enough to let me have discount ticket anyway, otherwise I'll pop over to Bradford instead for the Palace game.

Well, I made a very good economic case that it's better paying £15 to watch 1st division than 3rd! (Especially as it's more expensive to get to Hull than Bradford!)

Anway, was a reasonable game. Palace looked a lot better, and shouldn't have let Bradford back in after taking an early lead. Bradford's 2 goals were carbon copies, and the game was improved by the home side getting on top, as they had a fair bit of play on what was a terrible pitch though. Not bad value for a day out, albeit a bit costly still!

PS... what a diversion from what is an Oxford thread!

I went to Gloucester Green to check on this Friday. There are buses but the last one to return Saturday was at 4:25pm. So in the end the answer was 'no'.

isn't there a direct bus from Oxford to Wycombe? Think it's one of the Airport services, or at least a local one...

The jetlink 757 runs from Oxford, Gloucester Green to High Wycombe, Newlands Station every 2 hours from 01:45 in the morning. The journey takes approx 45 mins.
