Pat Terry - RIP

Nobody else on here seems to have remarked on it so I am posting to give the sad news that Pat Terry died recently.

He was the epitome of the journeyman centre forward who travelled widely, never stayed too long at any club and scored wherever he went.

He was nearly 35 when he joined the Bees in 1968 but he scored 12 goals despite missing many games through suspension.

He was notable for being the best header of the ball I have ever seen playing for the Bees - he used to hang in the air and rarely lost a challenge.

He was tough and uncomprising and made Leo Fortune West look like Paul Brooker.

He must have terrified opponents because he sure as hell frightened me just watching him play - RIP.

RIP Pat Terry

Sorry to see this sad news NLB I remember the great Pat Terry, he seemed to score most of his goals with Reading. I used to loook in the sunday Papers, Dick was very often on the bees goalscorer and Terry was the name under Readings. I think he hailed from Lambeth. Two great goalscorers that are sadly no longer with us.

Pat Terry was in the side for my first ever Bees game, If my memory is correct he was with us for a season and then moved on to Hillingdon. Used to love seeing him in a Bees shirt.Sad news.
RIP

Pat was a big strong target man who terrorised defences wherever he played and did a good job for Bees.He also was a big thorn in our side for many seasons when he played against us for Reading. I remember him and his strike partner Dougie Webb physically holding Chic Brodie down against the goalpost whilst Reading forced a late winner against us in the mid sixties.Reading's other striker then was Denis Allen, father of you know who.

R.I.P PAT.

R.I.P Pat and condolences to his family.

Oh yes, well-remembered. Went to see him play at Hillingdon Borough with Wise Old Bee after he left Brentford.

Would give anything to have a frightening forward like Pat right now.

Sad news.
As has already been said, Pat really was an intimidating presence on the pitch, seemingly either willing to continue an existing feud, or keen to start a new one.
However, he was very good leader of the attack and his record of over 500 appearances and pretty well a goal every other game, is rather impressive.
RIP.

:imwith:

Although John O'Mara would probably get my vote as being the best header of a ball he did have a big advantage of being 6 foot+. Pat Terry was not particularly tall but must have had very strong neck muscles as well as a great spring in his legs to head a ball so well whilst hovering. A lower league Dennis Law in this respect.

Very sad news. We don't forget our former players at GP and Pat was a real hard man who could dish it out as well as take it. My favourite performance of his time was a 4-0 win at Aldershot at the beginning of one season. Condolences to his family.

.............I can't quite believe that it was almost 40 years ago that he played for us...........one of his headed goals stands out in my mind and was probably the best finish to the best cross that I've ever seen.........RIP big man......condolences to his family.............

Pat Terry - RIP

Truly superb header of a ball & a real hard man.

Once saw him play for Reading at QPR. He got into a 'altercation' with one of the Brady brothers on the half way line. The other sprinted thirty yards to get involved - unfortunately for him PT saw him coming & just at the right moment turned & nutted the said Brady who was poleaxed. PT just turned & walked off the pitch.

RIP

First remember him playing for Newport County. If I remember correctly he must have been caught offside more than any player I ever knew.

However, a great goal scoring record wherever he went. One of the good guys and may he RIP
