Penalties conceded

Now I might be crazy but… when was the last time bees conceded a penalty? I’d love to see the stats and how we compare to others in this department. We seem to get our fair share of penalties but I struggle to think of many occasions we’ve given them away - perhaps I’ve blanked it out of my mind. Any ideas?

No stats, but my impression is that penalties, both for and against, have been down this season and last.

But agree, we definitely get more than we concede...

And we receive fewer Yellow and Red cards than the opposition....and concede fewer fouls...
It's almost like we're deliberately avoiding doing stuff that might have a negative impact on our chances.....?

Makes me think it's more than just a coincidence that we receive more than we concede.

I think the refs must have an unconscious bias towards little ol' Brentford ?

Or, more likely, the way we defend by limiting big chances for the opposition means they are 'forced' into long shots and crosses, which are less likely to lead to penalties than dribbling or playing short passes in our penalty area.

By coincidence I saw a table on this today on an FPL forum. I'm afraid I don't know how to copy it out and post it across but essentially the 4 penalties awarded to us this season puts us third behind Bournemouth (7) and Liverpool (5) while the one pen conceded is fewer than anybody bar Liverpool (0).

Maybe. Although we seem to be fairly "average" for pens awarded, but definitely much better than average for pens conceded (over the 3.5 seasons we've been in the Prem)

And missed two, had they gone in, we have so many penalty takers as we have seen in the shoot outs, Dams, Jenson. If Thiago was happy to give one to Kevin he should be happy to give pens to Dams now.

By far and away the team given most pens this season!

Expecting that to change - fortunes will naturally swing the other way to a degree. With that being said, I do think that with Ouattara and Schade we are more likely than the average team to earn penalties.

With them winning one each on Saturday, we can hope that this is starting to register in the thinking of the Refs in games to come. ‘He gets fouled a lot. Ooh! That’s a penalty!’ Then it’s up to VAR to overturn it (if they can.)
