Have to say I agree with Bigbee...not quite sure why the club's customers are being fed cryptic clues as to the player's identity.
The only reason why not must be that has not yet confirmed he will play, in which case why bother to break with the 'facts, not speculation' ethos of the website.
It rather smacks of the time we were told Brentford had signed a first division star and it turned out to be Bob Booker...gawd bless 'im.

From what was said in the Chron this week.

"while the third and possibly Wally's favoured option, is slightly older and banging on the door of a First Division club."

I'd make a guess its one of following.

Daruis Henderson or Nathan Tyson from Reading ?

Ben May from Millwall ?

Peter Beadle

At 5'9 he's hardly the target man were after ?.

Although Wally did say that he wants two more stikers before the season starts and as Vine seems to be a no no ?.

Hardly a target man ,not well known and not knocking on a first teams door unless he does kit washing in his spare time

do i feel a new song comming on."watch out beadles about" you never know!!!:D

Peter Beadle

I think he could be HANDy :sneakoff:

Peter Beadle

Played OK at Farnboro to today. Scored one laid one on. Peters looked a better player with him on could be a good combination. However how he would look against better opposition time will tell.

Peter Beadle

Oh God, my Bristol City mates have already started laughing at me

Considered to be slow and past it by most City fans, but perhaps he could be the target man we need

Peter Beadle

Thought he looked good today, had a good touch n laid on a few good chances. See how he fares against pompey come tuesday, best of what we've fielded recently tho.

Peter Beadle

does this mean that were not getting reeves from chesterfield?

Peter Beadle

Looked quite good for 55 minutes, after which he was so knackered that I wondered if he would have the puff to make it to the touchline when subbed!

He held the ball up well and distributed it cleverly to other Bees.

Peter Beadle

Saw him today at Farnborough too. Looked okay, as it was his first game and first time with the other players. Worked well with Peters who looked on form and had a good chance to grab a hat trick today. Penalty was a no no. But we'll take it. Can we have the same linesman for us all next season too!!

Team looked okay at the start but as soon as it gets chaged around they lost their way a bit.

Still a good workout.

Has anyone worked out the need to keep his name secret??????

No!! Is it because he is only a cover for another signing?

Also any news on a midfielder or two??

Beadle was a teenage sensation and never really fufilled his potential having been with and loaned out to numerous clubs including the yids for a while. Didn't go yesterday so won't comment but would rather see Henderson if we can get him on loan.

He wasn't loaned out to Spurs they paid a fair chunk of money for him. It was they who then loaned him before realising he wouldn't make it at premier level.

No - Finnan joined Fulham when they were in Division 2.

From Notts County where he played for 3 seasons including both their relegation from Division 2 (96/97) and subsequent 3rd Div Championship (97/98).

Info from Soccerbase BTY

Sorry Ed just read the question properly and realised the same club bit!!

D'oh

I'll get me coat!!

Does anyone have an idea why Peter Beadle did not play a single game in the 2001/2002 season ?

You surely are not refering to that ginger lanky streak of pi55 who couldn't run , head nor control a ball when we played reading a few weeks ago?

Peter Beadle

dunno

Wrexham have Bob Taylor on trial, now theres a bloke who knows where the net is, 36 now ,but would be a good signing .Wrexham had PB on trial and didnt offer him a contract.

Sorry on hols so didn't get to Reading friemdly, remember him last year as tall, skinhead who was very good in the air and lively.
The Pikeys rate him but he's unlikely to start for them ahead of Goater who they've just shelled out £600K + on. Friendlies aren't good indicators Sonko looked our worst player against Staines.

Henderson over Beadle any day for me

I think last night proves that beadle is ready for the knackers yard. He was hopelesly unfit and slow to the point he didn't even jog once..thanks, but no thanks!

Obviously lacking fitness, but very little English football is played at 30 C.

I thought he showed more than enough touches and ability to be given a chance (say 3 months to prove fitness with an option for a further 21 months.

A player with his sort of ability - strong in the air, decent close control with his back to goal and able to pull defenders a few yards out of position to give Peters, Tabb, O'Connor and Hunt space to run into through the middle - is exactly what we are looking for to bring the best out of the younger players

Completely agree.

He is obviously unfit but that will come, if not he won't last long at any level.
He appears to have the brains, and could work well with our players. I think we should get him on a week to week and see how it goes.
