How long have we been saying this? Would really like to see some formal recognition for him soon.
There were some musings about an end of season match in his honour also, I know MA would be keen to particiopate.

I suggest a statue on the Braemar forecourt if a suitable position can be found. As long as it is suitably guarded if any of those inevitable forecourt protests against Scotty get out of hand.

If so, how do you "know he would be keen..." ??

Yes Martin Allen and I asked him and his response was a big "Where, when and of couurse I would want to be part of anything celebrating the work of Peter."

Actually, it's quite funny you should say that, given the start I've had to this year re betting. :cool:

Anyway, to get back to the subject, in all seriousness, I do think PG deserves some kind of recognition for all his effort over the years. Surely he deserves a stand or bar or something to be named in his honour, and it would be nice if it could be done while he is still alive.

how about a testimonial match when he retires, and a great big medal presented to him by jacky graham, with loads of ex bees applauding him onto the pitch. that is something i would like to see.

jesus i would like jacky graham to do the half time "motivation" talk these days.

On the topic of PG, i sent an email to the club earlier and he sent a great reply, 15 minutes later. Quality.

My son was doing a presentation at University about the good service one gets from small football clubs. To prove a point, part way through he emailed the club (not prearranged) asking the price of the coach to some away game. He received a reply from Peter before the end of his presentation. The audience were pretty impressed. Peter Gilham is a top bloke and the rest of the staff are also pretty good.

By comparison I emailed Arsenal two years ago and I am still waiting for their response.

Questions - What, if any part, did PG play in bringing AS back to GP? The programme for the testimonial match for AS against Leyton Orient indicated that he and another Brentford stalwart had accompanied AS abroad to the final of one of the major football competitions while AS was a Brentford player. Did this background have any bearing on AS being appointed Assistant Manager on 9 May 2007 following Terry Butcher's commencing work as Manager on 7 May 2007?

Me neither. :)

I was trying to encourage supporters to check out the official website rather than asking fairly basic communication questions on the GPG. The 'enquiries' emails at BFC would be swept up and sent to whoever needs to handle the response.

if we ever get a new ground one stand should be named the Peter Gilham stand in recognition for his services to Brentford, when he isnt on the mic it just doesnt sound right

Football should recognise Peter's contribution

The FA used to have awards for services to football (assuming that he doesn't already have one). I think there is a 10 and 25 year award for a start.

Someone told me sometime back he was the longest serving Pitchside Announcer or whatever we describe him as (please don't turn this into an opportunity to be disrespectful) in the league, let alone all the additonal work he does.

Surely someone at the club must know how to get the FA process started.
