I hope he gets well. I know of someone who had it and apparently it is a very painful cancer to have. She couldn't eat through my mouth etc....Not very nice at all. Hope he wins the battle. Anyone know how old he is?

I saw that too, had a virus they said. I quite like him.... hope he gets better soon

Never liked him as an oppo manager but probably because he had an opinion I didn't agree with. Football needs personalities and I really hope I get to boo him again. Fingers crossed for a full recovery.

This is quite encouraging as someone I worked with started treatment for Cancer of the Larynx last week.

Hope Jackson recovers, he's the sort of love or hate bloke that football needs.

He is a nemesis, our villan, and we need them but only in the name of sport, the diagnosis of throat cancer is a great leveller and puts life in perspective.

My best wishes to Peter and his family, I hope and pray.

never really liked him until I saw a feature on a Lincoln game on Sky recently, even though they needed the points badly, he was larking around and playing up for the camera, and showed that there is more to life than winning football games

He does come across as a man that opposition fans just "love to hate" which is a well used phrase that is, in isolation, a bit over the top.

He is just part of our game and that's all i know about him and so i hope he fights it with the same backbone that he presents as a manager. Good luck :sorted:

Good news as I LIKE peter Jackson a lot

I remember the last time Hudds played us at GP,I used to have me season ticket by the dug out and Martin allen used to encourage me to wind up the opposing manager not swearing but in other ways and with peter it was quite easy as i used to just shout at him all the Shampoo brands there was and for him to get a hair wash and it worked but fair play to the man as after the 2-2 draw with them he came up to me and shook my hand and said I heard every word you and he said fair play to you.

Yeah i agree mate, after the feisty 2-0 game i shook his hand and he said something about it being a proper football match. Any chance someone with more savvy than me can put these comments on the Lincoln site?

Peter Jackson lives approx one hour from Lincoln. Every morning he'd stop at a roadside tea bar and talked with the lady owner about anything and everything over a cup of tea and a bacon butty.

One night the tea bar suffered an arson attack but the next morning the woman who thought that much of 'Jacko' made a bacon butty and flask of tea for him at home and drove and met him in the lay-by next to the charred remains

Good all round Guy Peter Jackson, used to come in to the Mitre office when we were based in Huddersfield and was so loyal to the club and those around him.

Had the indignity of being sacked as Town manager and then swallowed his pride by accepting the same job again some time later, he was so proud to be part of his home town team again.

Really seemed a genuine guy and I wrote to him months back when he was diagnosed and wished him well.

Great to see that he is on the road to recovery.
