You think relegation is that much of a certainty? ;)

I wonder if Taylor would have been daft enough to sign the dotted line, had he guessed that Ipswich would be managerless an hour later?

Managerial Marry-Go-Round is really in full swing now.

I think this will be a test of Taylor, this will be the first job where he takes over when things were going badly, Gillingham, Leicester and Brighton were all doing pretty well.
Let's see how it works

Interesting of Radio 5 live this morning about 8:00. An ex-Leicester director saying that the entire blame for Leicester's financial collapse must lay at the door of Peter Taylor. 5 minutes later on the Sports News, confirmation that Hull (no strangers to extinction threats themselves) have named Peter Taylor as new manager. Hull for the conference??

bit surprising, how's he gonna manage without inheriting a good team?! he's ****ed up every other he's managed (before realising he would do that at brighton if he stayed), so can't imagine what he's gonna do to hull!

What a year though! One minute you're managing England...blink...the next you're taking Hull to Scunthorpe.

erm England u/21 ?

Granted though, some of his buys at Leicester were truly abysmal

I reckon my money will come good on Hull and promotion though. Fancy a tenner on him not gaining promotion with 'ull tho' Dan (and Dan only !) ?

Nothing of course to do with them taking out a totally crippling mortgage on a new stadium that they don't actually need at the moment............

Apart from Leicester, Taylors managerial record is actually quite immpressive. Poisened challice at Hull though methinks.

It isn't though, it only looks good on paper!

Gillingham signed half of Brentford's team which made the play-offs on two occasions, at a time when chaiman Paul Scally was spending money for fun. The Gillingham manager at the time Tony Pulis was then sacked for naughty business, which allegedly involved Scally's nympho wife. Peter Taylor arrived and won promotion in his first season at the club. He never as much as had the opportunity to sign a new player, let alone a new team! That wasn't Taylor's team that won promotion that season.

When Taylor arrived at Leicester, I said at the time he was in a no-win situation. He had no chance of successfully following in O'Neill's footsteps. Martin O'Neills buddy (love child?) Neil Lennon was already on his way to Celtic. Seeing the way things were going, everyone else wanted to leave as well. The results were disasterous, and to be fair not 100% Taylor's fault. But I was told Taylor was an excellent manager, and excellent managers rise above situations like that.

As for the team inherited by Taylor halfway through last season, i'm still too angry to comment! lol...
