Play-off dates

Despite being gut-wrenchingly depressed, I've just been looking at the play-off dates. Perhaps someone could kindly explain to me why we have to play the second leg of the semi-final less than two days after the first leg when the play-off final is scheduled for 13 days after the semi-final second leg.

I presume that the answer is an anagram of YSK....

Sheffield united cant play at home on the Saturday as Wednesday are at home. So we can't play the Friday, TV pulls the strings

But surely they could have chosen quite a few dates for the second leg as there are no less than 15 days between the semi-final first leg and the final. This just beggars belief!
