Play off form

I know that it is terrible - but since it started - how many times have we been in the play off's and what were the results? :computer:

Play off form

Not sure but in recent times we have been known to bottle it...
Hope our luck changes this year..

GOOD TIMES.

:(

The worst of those for me was huddersfield.

bring them on this year for more laughs and fun and frolics.

Play off form

90/91, snuck in on the last day finishing 6th/7th  Played Tranmere over two legs drew 2-2 at home, Godfrey last minute equaliser, lost 1-0 up there. They went up

94/95, finished second, only year for 50 that one team went up. Played Huddersfield over two legs, drew 1-1 on both ocassions, lost on penalties as Mundee and Bates missed. They went up

96/97. Looking similar to this, great start, miles clear, sold a great striker, faltered as we were unable to beat teams at home. Finshed 4th. Bristol City over two legs, won them both 2-1. Crewe in final, lost 1-0, should have been 15-0.

01/02. Battle to the wire for second, missed out with 13 minutes remaining. Finished 3rd. Huddersfield over two legs, drew 0-0 up there, won 2-1 at home with Owusu getting the winner. Stoke in the final lost 2-0 as we were below par, had chnaces, didn't take them.

04/05. Always looking for a play-off spot, finished 4th as others collapsed more than us as we staggered over the line. Sheffield Wednesday over two legs, lost 1-0 up there in a tactical mess, 2-1 at home as they took their chances and we didn't. They went up.

I'm off to slit my wrists

So every team that has beaten off in the play off format has gone up? Wow -good news for someone. rofl

That Crewe game always makes me laugh when I think about it. My Dad (who has been going to GP for nearly 60 years) left after 70 minutes. I can't think of a more one sided game of football.

If we are in the play offs teams will lose on purpose to get the chance to play us

Really don't know what was worse, as i was only 11 years old for Tranmere i was probably too young too understand, however Crewe was my 1st and only trip to wembley and for Stoke i bunked off uni in France for 4 weeks to watch from the Bury game onwards  to watch that drivel. Its a funny old game.....

This has got me thinking. Add to the list our victories against Bristol City and Huddersfield have we made the most appearances (seven) in the playoffs than any other side in the league. Haven't got time to look it up but someone else might.

Our victories against Brizzle & Huddersfield preceded the losses against Crewe and Stoke so it's still only 5

For me Huddersfield was the worse. I was thrown out of GP for using foul and abusive language.

Play off form

..a big no-no to the play-offs..................

Play off form

Ipswich may of been in them more than us?

For one of their P.O matches a few seasons back they had the Samaritans number on the scoreboard.

Play off form

Worst moment before the Stoke final was finding out that we were in the "lucky" dressing room at Cardiff from which the winners of ALL previous 12 matches had emerged victorious...

Quite right. Thanks for that.

But we have made more appearances in the third tier play offs than anybody else.

I know because I went all the way back through the records to count.......:sneakoff:

And we still can't get out of this f***ing division

The problem is on most occasions the bees dont show up on the big day, maybe this year will be different, the games not being on tele would help as we always seem to bore the nation on there.

I thought that in 2002. A Coppell side won't freeze I told myself........:(

:( And the only game I didn't go to was the away match last season @ Sheffield Wed....and that was because I was overdue with my 2nd child @ the time so couldn't risk it.

No more torture like those matches please....Let's get 3 wins from 3 and give ourselves the best chance of avoiding them! :sorted:

Playoff finals should be a home game for the highest finishing club otherwise there's no reward for finishing 3rd vs finishing 6th e.g. Brentford vs Stoke City was like a home game for Stoke City with huge fan attendance for the Potters

The teams who finish highest get the home leg last which is an advantage.

It's not Stoke's fault that we could only muster 12k.

Besides, Wembley was like a home game for us against Crewe. Fat lost of difference that made!

Insignificant factor in most ties and marginal at best especially if you're playing from behind by then.

12K would have kept all the Stoke City fans out of Griffin Park.

That was a fair result and playing at GP wouldn't have changed the outcome

How bizarre. Exactly the same here, even the location.

i can see a plan coming together here..we could hire a private plane and parachute into the millenium stadium ...alternatively we need to find a bar and try and persuade some gallic 'le patron' that all his regulars would be enthralled with watching the mighty bees in action rather than the usual live snail racing from longchamp...i'm at dol de bretagne not far st malo you anywhere near ??

No, I'm the other side of Brittany near Quimper. I'm supposedly catching a 07:00 ferry from Portsmouth on Saturday morning and have suggested that perhaps I could meet my wife and kids in France. For some reason, she's none too keen.

Incidentally, I was not far from St Malo last year. I'm sure you'll have an excellent holiday. Nice part of the world.

i'm on the same ferry...quimper is really nice too stayed near there a couple of times ...lets just bloody well hope we go up auto coz i couldnt bear the thought of missing a play off final..... if it comes to it weve only got 24hrs to try and bribe a frenchie to tune to sky sports !!

Nope, we're going to miss it. The League 1 final is on Saturday so i don't know where you'll be but I'll be driving 200 miles across France.

Play off form

I've enjoyed all our play-off games, even the horrible bits. They are massive games with so much at stake. But try telling that to smug Chelsea and Arsenal supporters in my office, they'll never understand the exhilaration of Kevin Godfrey's equaliser againstTranmere, Bob Taylor's miss at Huddersfield, the penalty shootout, the horrors of the finals we've been in, turning over Bristol City I wouldn't have missed any of it for the world. No doubt, barring a last day minor miracle, we'll be at it again and there will be more joy or misery and it'll be a summer of bliss or suicidal thoughts. I can't wait for we are Brentford and that's what we do.

Who needs them.
Shoot that guy Lange who suggested it.

Now look what has happened, lost again.Everyone moaning and groaning.:(

Play off form

Hoprefully some Bees bet on Swansea when the draw was made as I expect them to thump Barnsley.

Play off form

Looking at our form ive decided the only possible way we can win the play offs is to play a southern team in the final
