I agree that last night’s results were definitely good news for us, but whilst we are 3 points behind B’mouth, we do need to get 4 points from our 3 games in hand to go above them in view of our negative goal difference at the moment. Having said that, on the law of averages, we should be able to get a win and a draw from those 3 games, which would be enough.
I have just done an analysis based on the remaining games for us, B’mouth and H’pool, and, based it on the following:
A win at home V all clubs below us
A draw at home V clubs above us
A defeat away V clubs above us
A draw away V clubs currently in places 8-16
A win away V clubs currently in places 17-24.
Using this basis of points scoring, the final points of the 3 teams would be:
Hartlepool 81
Brentford 80
Bournemouth 75
Whilst this will not, of course, happen, as football always springs up the odd surprise result now and again, but it does at least give an interesting insight into how things should, all other things being equal, turn out.

At the end of the day, though, if we DO get to the play-offs, I have to say that I'm VERY confident that we can do it this time, and we all know the reason why - MA and PMA
