Probably a question for either Chappers or WEB but without exercising the grey matter hard the only former players (other than Fitz) to manage Brentford are John Docherty and Steve Perryman. There are probably others but I can't be bothered to look it up.

So are there any others and if so who?

Didn't Micky Adams play one game for us ?

Interesting list - I didn't remember Blunstone coming back for one game! (I assume it was meant to be a temp appointment)

Can't be bothered to Google them, but since the 1960s, I think Perryman was the only one who was actually player-manager for a while, and he, Docherty and Fitz the only ones who had been players here before being managers. I think Adams played one game in the LDV or whatever it was called then, picking himself as we were short of players

Player/Manager

lol I bet he can reel of Fulham's list of managers since the year dot.

If you remembered John Docherty, how could you have forgotten Billy Dodgin???

Player/Manager

Don't bother with Chapman. He's lost it. The amount of Brentford questions I've asked him and he doesn't know the answer to. Rubbish!

lol lol

Out of that list Archie Mitchell, Jackie Gibbons, Tommy Lawton, Malcolm MacDonald and Jimmy Bain played for us.

Geroge Parsonage was mananger too but has been missed off the list.

PS YorkshireBeeAng - Bill Dogin didn't play for Brentford.

Player/Manager

10 managers in 9 years............ get a f**king grip Brentford....

Although Im sure we would have kept Lewington,Coppell and Allen given half a chance.

And the rest of the managers in that period were absolute sh*t.

Player/Manager

I agree, but it doesn't make him a sh*t manager, just a ****ing ****.

Surely if Frank Blunstone is recognised for his 1 game in charge then Garry Thompson should be listed between Wally and MA for his 1 game stint?

Yes, but who has the final say on this list. Blunstone was only a caretaker in 1984 and the same went for Thompson. :)

If Dickens and Dyke were around in 2004 I reckon they would have appointed Thompson as manager

Mike Everitt won 21 games? Didn't seem like it at the time.

I was a kid fan in the days of Bluntstone and Everitt and dont really remember either but did John Docherty not have two spells in charge?
or am I confusing him coming back as assistant to McLintock?

And for the Chelsea haters out there  a question
Who was Bil Dodgin Jr Assistant Manager?

Kerry Dixon?

Jose Mourinho?

Ken Bates?

Oh, hang on, I'm not a Chelsea hater. I shouldn't have answered. Sorry.

No need to apologise nor am I.
In fact in 36 years supporting the Bees I only heard chants against Chelsea since they became Champions hence the  in my post.
The answer is Tommy Baldwin and I was going to put his name on the "Famous People You Have Met" thread except that when a good friend and team mate introduced him to me, as an orderly queue formed in front of him for autographs and hand shakes, I had no idea that he was a Chelsea legend and was not impressed by him at all.
It was only when he told me of being No2 to Dodgin that he went up in my estimation. That and the Andy McCulloch / Jack Charlton story..........lol

Player/Manager

Tell us this story.

Go on.

Please.

I assume that it's the one in Jack Charlton's autobiography.

The Sheff Wed board agreed internally to pay Brentford £90k for Andy Mac and told Jack Charlton to make the offer. Jack Charlton decided to "try it on" off his own back, phoned Brentford and offered £65k to see what the reaction was. His Assistant Manager was Maurice Setters and they were concerned that as the board had approved an offer of £90k they would lose Andy Mc through trying to be clever and the Sheff Wed board would be hacked off with them. Jack Charlton and Setters sat in Charltons office and decided to give it an hour. Charlton said he told Setters "Don't let me phone Brentford for one hour but after that I'm gonna do the full £90k". Before the hour was up Dan Tana (I think it was) phoned him back and said that he accepted the £65k.

So nothing ever changes........we dropped £25k (which was a lot of dosh then) 'cos nobody at BFC ever knows how to play hardball......'cos it's never their money that's going down the pipe is it. Jack Charlton is on record as saying that Andy Mac was the last piece in his jigsaw, was the best value for money signing that he had ever made and he couldn't believe that Brentford let him go for £65k

half the story....
Brentford wanted him back after he fell foul of Charlton and decided that they would approach him on the QT as they were pissed off that J. Charlton had put one over on them. So Andy Mc was approached when Sheff Wed were in London overnight for a game. However they were spotted talking to him in hotel lobby and the news was relayed back to JC.
With the good news that Andy Mc was interested in coming back, Brentford approached JC and Sheff Wed with a cheeky under valued offer only to be told that Charlton had been waitin for the offer and agreed on the price offered by the Bees much to our surprise only on the condition that he was sold to any of the other 91 clubs in the league with the sole exception of Brentford FC. Dodgin/Baldwin lost their jobs soon after!
So we f@*ked up twice it seems!

Was just skipping through old programmes and the one versus Luton in August 1996 has a feature which says yes he did have a player/manager spell in 1907/08. Shouldn't the manager lists be updated to reflect this?
