Uwe mentioned in his post match press conference that our players are approaching him asking for more money. Is this not a little premature?? As we have won nothing and there is a hell of a long way to go.. Not sure I want the club potentially crippled with players on big wages and long term contracts. Would sooner they had an alright wage and offered a percentage of any future transfer fees.

I am sure it won't but the issue of wages and players feeling they should be on more than the player beside them could destroy what we have built and maybe even see some moved out in January. Need a cup run so that money can be reinvested in the team to boost our promotion challenge

plus- as much as i want this sqaud of players to stay together for a long time, if some are only at brentford for the money let them go! we are all buying into the brentford project at the moment and we dont need a few greedy players potentally spoiling what we have here at the moment

Its a problem any successful team at our level must face. I'm sure that we wont be stupid enough to blow our chances for the sake of a few quid.
Perhaps we could reduce the wage bill by loaning out Sam and possibly Hayes and use the dosh to bribe a few of the others.

They were both playing in a team that was mid table and not going anywhere.Since they have departed we are now in a great position for promotion.Why on earth would any player want to miss the opportunity to jump ship and not get a championship medal ? The team spirit is there for all to see.Coming back two successive weeks from behind to win says it all.

If you listen to it again he doesn't say players are approaching him for more money, he says players are asking for new contracts. As English isn't Uwe's first language he often gets his words mixed up. I think you will find he means he means there are players who need to sign new contracts and I would guess they would be asking for improved terms ( which you would expect ). Uwe stated last season that he would have some quality players on higher wages which we have and are seeing the results of this recently. So I can't see that the difference in the wage structure, isn't benefiting the team and far from destroying what Uwe is building.

The bigger the wage and longer the contract will reflect in a bigger transfer demand if/ when we do sell any of them.

We have several players out of contract at the end of this season and others in 2014. It will be a balancing act to decide how and where any available funds will be allocated.

There are at least 3 players who go out of contract in 2014 who would ideally not be allowed to enter the last season of their current deal without a renewal being discussed and ideally agreed.

You'd expect it all the more in that the players concerned are contemplating playing in the Championship next season (with us) and would want to be rewarded correspondingly.

It is likely that any contract would have a percentage increase built in if we were promoted rather than paying them 'championship wages' now.

Of those who are out of contract at the end of this season I would be surprised if anyone other than Forrester, and perhaps Logan, would be demanding any substantial increases. Douglas is playing well but I would imagine already on reasonable terms, Toumani came from Posh and I wouldn't expect warrants an increase. I guess if we're looking at Jake and Kiernan we need wages to offer but assume we are looking to move a couple on to cover them and Forrester. Will Saunders and Lee be those to be moved on and therefore not require increases?

This is all wild speculation and I could be well off the mark.

"Improved terms" could mean a longer contract than they were previously on as opposed to a huge wage increase ie tying down Logan for a longer contract than he has previously had. Also expect so form of promotion wage increase

It will also depend on what other options are available at the time, ie what other players will be available for us to bring in from other clubs who would represent better value? We dont have to keep existing players just because their contracts have expired.

Haven't there been plenty of posting on the GPG urging Uwe to get various players signed up? It seems Uwe has confirmed that some of those players who's contracts expire this season are also wanting to discuss extensions with him. He's already said that a decent FA Cup run could allow him to secure players. Isn't this entirely reasonable?

I have faith that this management team will continue to find players of the calibre of Harry, Harlee, Adam and Jake all who were unheard of raw youngsters only last year.
Equally worth considering is that MB has invested in the
future so that we don't have to find but develop our own stars that other teams will be happy to pay silly wages to.

Personally I can't wait and hope this season is a sign of things to come, I'm already dreaming of being an established Championship club in a new ground playing good football in red and white striped shirts front and back in front of over 10,000 -12,000 fans

The good new is that most of players concerned are young and still improving so will have future transfer value which will probably persuade MB tying Forrester Logan up makes good business sense.

It's track record on player recruitment to date seems to have been of the highest order and it is unlikely that anyone outside the team has anything worthwhile to contribute to the process in the future.

This young side and manager have shown in the last few weeks that they are a bit special. If we let our desire for a fast buck mess this all up we will never know just how far they can go. Somehow MB and Co. need to find a way to stop this from happening. Once the clubs trying to poach our players get an inkling that we are a soft touch it will be game over I'm afraid. We need to put out a message that nobody is going anywhere in January so F off and unsettle some other team.
