Pompey

As bad as this sounds I think it'd be a good thing for the English game as it'd offer a severe wake-up call to the clubs that even the Sky money might not be able to save you.

Should Portsmouth fail to fulfill their fixtures how would that affect the League as a whole regarding promotion and relegation?

Pompey

what's been mentioned today is a winding up petition.... any difference between this and a winding up order

You put a petition to the court, who then issue the order.

It will no doubt allow Pompey 28 days to sort something out first though I suspect.

Pompey

We all know they won't go to the wall, this is a Premier League club we are talking about ffs

Pompey

exactly, and come next week they will no doubt have had their transfer ban overturned, and the signings will start

Pompey

Doubt they will go to the wall but I think they may be closer to it than normal.

They have an Arab owner with seemingly no cash, big debts and a ground more akin to GP than a typical PL stadium ( not sure they even own the ground) add in likely relegation and there is not a lot going for them or any potential saviour.

Storrie seems to have a lot to answer for.

Pompey

great news if it means not having to listen to that **** ringing his bell on when pompey are on tv

Pompey

The Court Hearing is not scheduloed to February so they have some time.

Apparently Pompey are astonished to be issued with the papers - Obvious then that means they owe nothing to HMR&C cos if they did they would not be astonished - Would they ?

Pompey

.................no sympathy from me....................first of many Premiershite hopefully..............

Pompey

In their game tonight, they play Arsenal, and NO ENGLISHMAN was in the starting XI for either team..

....................saving them all for the World Cup.......................

Its no longer the English Premiership ... hasn't anyone told you? :sorted:

It is no longer the Premiership either. I believe they refer to it as the Premier League now.

Yanks used to pronounce Premiership as Premeership, which made a bad, made-up word sound even worse.

tell me about it i watched the game in silince last night cos of that f*cking thing! on a serious not though would be a shame to lose a club like pompey they are a proper fans club! but they are in trouble on and off the pitch.

and hey who we gonna beat in the next war cup final!

Pompey

Would be a shame if they get into serious trouble as Pompey fans I know don't see themselves as a typical PL club but an old fashioned league club that are living the dream a bit at the top level...trouble is they are going to pay for that a la Leeds.

Its not looking good though.

most try to sit away from him. I believe this year he has lost his sidekick who played the drum.

Will be delighted when they return to the Football League myself.:sorted:

Pompey

Great Support all through the drubbing they got last night :sorted:

Sorry to see them in trouble, Is it a case of gross mismanagement, speculating on success that never came ?
If so, the EPL need to look at their "Fitness Test" and they fans need to raise their voices and get involved with any future investors, before they f**k up the club again.

......where you will be able to hear the bell live!!!

That stat re no starting Englishmen is more alarming given the amount of ordinary foreign players on the pitch last night!:(

"EPL" :rolleyes:

The fitness test is not the issue - what the Premier and Football League need to concentrate on is on funding. If clubs don't have a sound plan for their cashflow they should be kicked out before the season starts.

I can see them going bust on their relegation. Some day, as others will learn, the millions of pounds lent to football clubs has to be paid back.

sorry.....went shorthand for a second

Pompey

past his best. put himself marking a post for their first goal and still let it in. very sad. still a hero of mine

a true legend as a bee but else where he hasnt really cut it having experienced relgation with nearly if not every club he has been at since leaving us!

most times i watch pompey he is at fault for a goal and most defintley didnt help with the first one last night!

Pompey

Pompey may as well take the 10 point hit and go into admin. then build from there for next season in the Championship. trying to borrow money here, there and everywhere, at some point it's going to catch up with you. BUT, will they get permission from the HMRC and other creditors with an agreed CVA? Or whatever it is!

Pompey

Pompey

Herman, he's not German.

You'll be able to hear it in the flesh at GP then.

I well remember the very unpleasant experience of standing penned in their away end, being pelted with bottles, bricks etc all game, while their plod just looked on. Don't remember the year, I think it may have been David Crown's debut.
Nasty , hateful bunch. FECKEM!!!

Pompey

I think the root of this evil violence is that the largest council estate in the whole planet is in Portsmouth.Fathers with outout fathers are now having kids with out the need of women.Pregant men push prams around singing " play up Pompey" The tatooed man is the best looking bloke in town, but is now dead.

Herman? Back to Championship where his level is atmost at best.

That sounds like about 1980/1 when we won down there.
