Positive posts

Seem to recall a thread for positive posts but it seems to have long since vanished.

I accept that things off the field are not perfect but I do find it dispiriting to see so many threads used to knock the club: stewarding, marketing and rearranged fixtures to name but 3.

Seems we are very quick to moan and cast aspersions, some probably justified, however in my humble opinion we do more things right than wrong and this should be equally noted as the things we do wrong.

Fortunately we are no longer a small little club jogging around the lower divisions desperately hoping that the club can find the odd couple of thousand to buy a new player. Instead we are playing with the big boys and need to run the club on that footin, attracting fans from all sorts of places, trying marketing initiatives and yes, having stewards with cameras, we may not all like it but we cannot continue as if we were playing Hartlepool on a cold Tuesday night!!

Within the football community Brentford FC is seen as a club that is doing things right and held up as a model for others, perhaps we need to appreciate that and look at the failings of others rather than perpetually focusing on our own shortfalls .

Glad I have got that off my chest and hopefully others might have a similar viewpoint

All you had to do was look at the faces of all the supporters leaving 3 sides of Griffin Park last Saturday. The club has been transformed and risen from the depths. More often than not we provide fabulous entertainment and we know that we are following a sound mid to long term strategy.

We play football in the right way and set out to win every game. We also sign decent young men who know how to behave on and off the pitch. We might get overwhelmed occasionally by more cynical teams but that is a price I am prepared to pay given our ethos.

Basically I trust my football club to act calmly, sensibly and within its means whilst still taking the odd gamble.

Agree, but saddened by some of the 'necessary changes.' Do the Stewards really have to have cameras. What a sad reflection on these times.

Having fellow supporters who are willing to challenge the club regarding over-zealous stewarding, sh*t, lazy marketing and incredibly inconvenient rearranged fixtures is a huge positive. Keep it up, fellow Bees. :hat:

Couldn't agree more. The way the club is run and what it is achieving on a budget not comparable with most clubs in the same division is nothing short of sensational, not to mention the style of the football team.

With regard to re-arranged fixtures, it's worth noting that a lot of the negative comments are directed at Sky TV, not the club (certainly true, in my case).

I just caught 10mins of TalkSport a moment ago when they were discussing the plight of Blackburn. All I can say (and I know it's been said a million and one times) but thank God, thank God, for Matthew Benham.

It really does bring it home and puts things in to perspective (in the context of football) when you hear what's going on there, and at various other clubs, Blackpool etc.

We really are privileged.

Over 35 years a bee and still pinching myself on a daily basis that this is MY club. Enjoy the ride and regardless of the occasional on and off the field slip it just doesn't compare to the club I began supporting in the late 70s/early 80s.

Onwards and upwards...

Only 35 years you gloryhunter. Unless you have purchased monkey nuts on the Royal Oak you aren't a real fan.

The only two things Brentford FC cannot control is the weather and the match result. Everything else should be brilliant and I won't settle for less. Neither should anyone else.

Always positive. A good idea to keep check on what's happening and not to be accepting everything because it's a negative and looks bad on the Club. MB has one aim, get Brentford promoted to the PL. I would say that he leaves off field activities to the CEO and the Board.

Things like; stewards (the issues surrounding them are easily sorted by using common sense), marketing (do you think marketing should be spending a fortune on what it does or can this money be used to fund a better Brentford squad? - I'll take the squad personally. Rearrangement of fixtures - done to death and the reasons why.

After most games, the majority are positive over the results - even when it's a defeat - and support the current manager and coaching team. Only a minority moan and they've not been on since we've had this 8 game unbeaten run. They'll be back when there's a defeat, don't worry about that.

Brentford go about their business very well, especially where the playing side is concerned. A lot of positives from that.

It's good to have a positive perspective on things but sometimes, just occasionally, I think some issues are worth a little moan about! Not least because it can help to raise the standard and feedback should be welcomed by the club. Plus it would be pretty dull if we all agreed on everything and that our players were 10/10 every game....(ok maybe not that last bit).

That's not to say that we shouldn't always be thankful for how well we are doing relative to our club size and that overall the management of this football club is exceptional. Easy to lose sight of that at times, but I think, and hope, the majority of Bees fans are loving the era we're in at the moment, and long may it continue.

It hasn't vanished, it is here (second entry down if you search for positive).
