Positives from today

There is so much that we can take out of today.

It showed that we are a club on the up with such a firm bond between the club, team and supporters .

We are skilful, organised and a team packed with pace, running ability and pure talent

We played football against Chelsea not kickball or hoof ball and earned their respect

We were an awful ref's most awful decision away from going in 1-0 up at the break

The team should take strength and confidence out of today's performance

We comitted only 1 bad tackle against them in the whole 2 games by Toums at Griffin Park ! We kept our cool and our shape at all times

Forshaw was one of the best players on the pitch today

We out sang and out supported Chelseacall game - I walked to the ground through Brompton Cemetrey, StamfordcBridge was another morgue for the home fans

We have made the football world sit up and take notice

the Bees are on the rise and we can take everything we got out of today as a massive boost to our promotion push

and we probably made about £750k from the tie too as another boost

Positives from today

We are out the cup is the most positive thing! Now to get promoted without a long trip to Middlesborough to contend with.

Forshaw. What a talent that man is.

And the first class, positive support from the 6,000+ Bees. Contrast that to the pitiful cynicism of the Chelsea 'supporters' (half of them are tourists anyway).

Texts from my CFC mates: Scoreline flattered us, impressed with Brentford. Midfield was as good as any we've seen. Good luck with the season.

Positives from today

Attempting to play football on the deck for 90 minutes and even when 0-4 down.
6000 Bees at an away game, let's get up and take 2000 away as often as possible next season.
Knowing it's much more fun supporting Brentford than the FA Cup and European Champions.

Positives from today

Chelsea showed us respect by playing their strongest team against us.

Our fans giving great voice throughout the game.

Today's and days like this is the reason why I support BFC

And everything NLB said

Positives from today

Standing at the tube station and realising how happy I am to be Brentford fan rather than a Chelsea one.

Until we play Middlesbrough next season in the championship

Positives from today

It took 145 minutes, over the two games, for Chelsea to assert their dominance over us, with pretty much their strongest team playing for the whole time (okay, Mata and Ba didn't start at GP), and when they did they showed why they're the third best team in the country.
They've put four past Norwich, Reading, Stoke (away) and Tottenham (away) , five past Southampton (away), Leeds (away), and Manchester United (in 120 minutes), six past Nordsjaelland and Wolves and eight past Villa this season. All of those teams are, on paper, better than us so there is no disgrace in being hit for four.

We're only going in one direction. I see no reason why we can't do a Swansea and the next time we go to Stamford Bridge, it'll be in the Premier League.

Well said......

Keeping our heads up and still trying to make a match of it at 0-4.
Showing the world how honest professionals disport themselves.

Hilarious referes to EB's post. I got up at 4am to watch the game and I have to say that in the 50+years as a Bee today made me proud. If Trotters goal had been allowed, who knows and we held them to 3 goal less halves of footie. Well done Uwe and te players and staff, no longer "Brentford Innit" we are organised, good and to be reckoned with. I will make the 8,000 mile round trip once more before the end of the season and it will be to celebrate promotion, there is no doubt about it

There has been a real feeling of optimism around the place for some time now and we did ourselves proud today. The players turned up, put in an excellent shift and I thought us as fans sang our hearts out and remained good natured (I havent heard of any incidents yet!). We did the club proud.

Really feel that this, our league position, our ability to mix it with all the teams above us and the positive vibes coming from the potential Lionel Road move bode well for our short and long term future.

Nice to also see quite a few kids at the game today - hope they keep coming along and growing with the club as we break with tradition and move up a league.

Proud to be a Bee today as I always am.

Onwards and upwards in the right direction we are going.

It's better than calling football 'Soccer'.

But "soccer" was a term, invented by a Victorian Englishman, credited to a Mr Charles Wreford Brown. So, maybe, we should take the word 'soccer' back into the English language! ;)

Just happen to be reading a book regarding the history of early 'soccer' and the men who made it in the 1850's-1900's. :computer: ;)

lol So it's our own fault but it still makes me cringe.

I fear you're a little optimistic. Do hope you're right though.

Got to be looking at getting over 6,000 for this one.

No choice if you if you live in the US because they call Gridiron Football even though they never or rarely kick it. So alas it is Soccer like it or not

Don't I know it...my partner loves the NFL. :banghead: Can't stand it myself.

I personally think it should be called American Rugby.

At least the Germans call the beautiful game the equivalent of football. :sorted:

Both my kids - now 18 and 15 - used to come to GP quite often but had dropped away in recent years. The cup run has inspired both of them. Older one has been to some league matches this season and came to the home match against the Russians. He sat in a pub in far away North Herts yesterday watching the match on the box with a Brentford scarf wrapped round him while the younger one joined me at Stamford Morgue. It's not that they are glory hunting (it's Brentford ffs) but, I hope like others, the publicity around a cup run will tempt them back and this time not as kids happy to do anything with their dad on a saturday afternoon but as young adults who decide that the passion and pain, the pride and humour of supporting a real football club beats the melodrama, obscene wealth and B-list celeb circus of the Prem.
Yesterday, reminded me that we are Brentford, we are English football, and we are proud.
