Loved it on the pitch - first time in 37 years! Wow, isn't the grass soft, like a carpet!? I reckon I could play decent football on a surface like that!

I've always wondered about that, when you see goal celebrations and the players slide along on their knees, if they did that on my lawn they'd get scratches galore.

Agree mate, it was reflection time and nice to look around and see lots of friends and familiar faces over the years doing the same. Did wonder what my Dad would be thinking and smiled as I watched my daughter celebrating and telling her mates she'd been on the pitch and had photos with the players again.

I agreed that during the game, even with 20ish minutes to go when play-offs seemed more likely than unlikely, that a pitch invasion seemed a bit daft. A pitch invasion seems more like something you do if you've actually won something there and then - reaching the play-offs technically doesn't mean anything.

Saying that, come the full-time whistle I was just as hysterical as everyone else and didn't hesitate at all to go on and celebrate. I reminded myself that this is the best season Brentford have had in bloomin' decades and I fully intend on making the most of it while I can, you never know what the next season may bring.

As the reporter said doing the sky sporta report , aslong as no one is doing any harm and doing anything stupid then its okay. I was sceptical of it before the game but the way i felt as it was unfolding listening to it at work i can only imagine what it felt like being there. Our first season in the championship and our first crack at making it into the much maligned prem is a moment to be celebrated.

lol As I recall you had pretty safe pair of hands mate back in the day. Regardless of how lush the surface I would have found it difficult to not over run the ball a bit in order to make sure I had an excuse to get man and ball in the tackle ! "Play to your strengths, hit every tackle like you mean it, don't ever stand admiring your work and don't ever let me see you turn your back on the ball" I can hear my Dad telling both me and my brother now !!!

Ha Ha, it being 'last game of the season' is normally good enough for me!

The first pitch invasion I can recall was the last time we were in the champ and we won our penultimate home game and thought we were staying up as a result... Been one at least every other year since then I reckon and why not I say... I love em'!

The pitch looked immaculate. Respect to the ground staff... Even the penalty areas looked good.

Yes, it was in really good nick, like it was the first game of the season, not the last. Hope it was not too knackered after the pitch invasion.

As for the two fellas swinging on the cross bar afterwards, can't believe they did that. At least they got off when they were shouted at from the ER supporters.

By the time he'd got to about 15 he'd become a real stopper of a centre half, very strong in the challenge and would run through brick walls but wouldn't last long if still playing at a half decent standard now.

It is I suppose inevitable. However, the way some grown men were inanely turning around to the terrace looking for some kind of approval or recognition from those not on the pitch made me want to punch them in the face. Kids and youths I can just about tolerate.

I didn't go on the pitch but watched as my daughter and mate enjoyed the moment but don't you think you're being a bit of a Killjoy?
These moments are few and far between although very welcome regular occurrence in last couple of years.
Lots of hard working, ordinary people making the most of an extra ordinary day, no trouble, all good natured and pitch cleared on request, what's the problem?

I can reluctantly understand it for kids and youngsters but how many grown men who went also went on last year vs Preston ?
The novelty aspect is wearing very thin and I found it very silly considering we had just secured another game on the surface and the pitch is a huge part in our plays success.
Grown men l olling around and gurning with a "look at me I'm on the pitch" face, just look like utter bellends, especially as they were probably on the last time.

If that's the biggest problem you have you're laughing mate. As I say a lot of ordinary people making the most of their fairly mundane lives by having a bit of fun and behaving like kids, good luck to them, certainly didn't see any problem. I copped the hump with the pr*t who leapt on Charlie Macs back that year and with those that refused to clear the pitch but this Saturday was fine?
