As far as I'm aware you can't create a thread on mobile version? And to start a thread you have to go onto the specific section of the forums before it comes up with the create thread button. That might be where people are having trouble

I disagree. Only obvious if you start threads regularly, or know where to look and which tab to click on first.
Leedsbee, Redsbee and others : click on the 'forum' tab first, then click on one of the categories for thread already created, e.g. 'Team and Transfer talk.' you will then be able to see the 'post new thread' tab at the top of the page that Edmundo refers to.

It depends on whether you are on the mobile or desktop view. But it is extremely obvious.
You definitely can start a new thread on the mobile version. Yes, you have to be in a specific forum to start a thread - otherwise you'd have to specify which forum and there are numerous members who would struggle with this.

I am IT literate and the first two icons at the top are not obvious in their use. I use android on s7 edge.

If you're on the home page or latest news page, which is where I am mostly, it is most definitely not at the top of my screen. If you click on 'forum help or forum actions)' (where one might expect to find it) it's not there. As I say, obvious if you know where to look!

On the desktop version it says "Post new thread". On the mobile version it says "New thread."
Can you please suggest some more obvious ways of wording it?

You can't post new threads on those pages, so the button isn't there. It is on every page where you can post a new thread.

if you click on General Bees Discussion, Team and Transfer Talk, Chit Chat or any of the other "categories", then on the next page at the top there should be a "Post New Thread" button.
that should be on any browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox etc). if not, can you describe what you're seeing instead (or post a screenshot)
