I hate to be a cynic and I don't want to judge the situation before all the facts come out, but you really have to question that if the girl was so traumatised about this, how did she (or someone close to her) find time to ring the Sun with her story?

One asumes it must be players from either Aston Villa, Newcastle United or Liverpool who were playing at Chelski, Arsenal and Charlton respectively - otherwise why would they be in a London hotel.

It depends which night the alleged incident took place, of course, but I thought it was mentioned on the radio as Saturday night..

Following on this theme, Newcastle played Friday and would presumably travel back that night, Aston Villa played Saturday and presumably would travel back that night, so I am not sure who it could be!

No doubt all will be revealed in time.

Newcastle Utd and Villa were the only Premiership teams playing in the smoke on Saturday, scousers maybe stopping over last night. By powers of deduction, which team had a later kick off?, and a current international player "allegedly" renowned for his antics with the ladies. Wonder of they had a camcorder handy?

Allegedly, it was one Charlton player and various Geordies.

Doubt it was the Villa. Do they have seven well known players, especially to a dumb 17 year old?

Also, Arsene Wenger was there, but he didn't see anything.

It could be Chelski's rotation system. Duff started, he was then taken off for Crespo. Joe Cole then got five minutes at the end. :o

At first i thought it might be Fulham players in a hotel before travelling north.

Then i remembered it can't be them as they are all W*****s!

Hmmm, if Newcastle lost 7 first team players, would 100/1 about relegation (with Coral) be a good bet? If charges were raised I'd imagine there would be a few distracted players in that team.

I've just heard another theory, but on second thoughts have decided not to leave it here. No idea whether this rumour has any more to it than the first.

As a guideline, if what you post on this thread can narrow the list of possible suspects to fewer than a thousand then DO NOT POST IT.

This is a SERIOUS allegation, other people have sued websites carrying previous, similar allegations.

Judging by the facts, it can only be a certain amount of players, playing for teams who would have been staying in hotels in London.

It seems like it could only be one team, judging from the facts....

Well then, if that's the case you can't post anything that narrows these *allegations* - not "facts" ....yet

Interestingly it's not on the Sun website anymore, nor on the BBC News site. At least not easily navigated to. That tells you something!

Rivals site was down due to naming of players on the Charlton and Newcastle messageboards. This doesn't mean that they were Charlton or United players mentioned of course..

Look, please don't publish any information on this board. I would assume that the Sun have gone as far as they possibly can - having called on their very expensive specialist lawyers. If they can't publish information why do you think we can?

No it is not. It's "publishing information" akin to publishing the same information in (say) the Sun. Unless you know all the users of the internet.
