Can't beleive Toumani can be as bad 2 games running, think we need experience in defence, have rested Clayton and Trotta as the former has been out of sorts in recent weeks and I am not sure Trotta is fully fit

Don't expect anyone will agree or that it will be the team but it could be worse!!!

I can't see Donaldson being rested in the 43rd league game of the season. Just won't happen.

I would go for the same team as today, with Nico in for Forshaw and obviously swapping with Mac at right back. That I believe is our strongest team, and although they didn't fire today, we've been pretty damn handy with that set up all season, especially at home.

If midfield isn't working put on Reeves or shift Mac forward. Save Trotta for last 20 if needed - has worked well in the past.

They may have been excellent throughout the season ( season started after the Stevenage friendly), but they haven't been good lately especially up front. Yes I know before today we won 2 on the bounce but how many were scored by a striker? We scored 4 goals in total right? Douglas, judge x2 and Forshaw from the penalty spot!
Last time a striker scored for us: Coventry at home 6 games ago. Trotta, although been very good turn of the year, has had indifferent games since that Coventry game and seemingly was very poor today. Donaldson, scored in that same match, has actually only scored 5 goals since, and including, New Year's Day against Peterborough..
He may bring a lot to the team but he hasn't been scoring goals - something our strikers should be doing. Come to think of it, Trotta has only scored 6 since Peterborough. We've scored 25 in that and those two have 11 between them - sounds good but not great.

Looked awesome on the Football League review. Knocking goals in for fun. I'm sure we'll pose a tougher test Friday but personally, I think this will be a very difficult game and one we should not assume we will win. They're 5th in form whereas we're 13th, according to Statto.

Seems PNE and LO, liberated of expectation, are resuming the kinds of runs they had pre-season whereas we're wobbling ever so slightly.

Agree. Bees seem to have given up scoring for Lent. Mid-season we cracked in 34 in 15 games, but, since Wolves gave us a seeing-to, we've only scored 12 in 12. Trotta, for all his skill on the ball, lacks the pace to score different types of goal. Clayton looks knackered, and what is Will Grigg for? The mid-field, like last year, aren't chipping in any more - Toumani, bless him, hasn't a shot in his locker, Judge, after a good start, usually fires high or wide now, and Forshaw and Saville aren't hitting them like they used to. Opposition have sussed how to play us, and our high-tempo, pressing game stops once we hit the penalty box.
Wouldn't be Bees if we didn't do it the hard way, but please god we stagger over the promotion line this year. Mac in midfield for Preston.

Written after yesterday when I was cold and had the hump with all of them !!!!

That having been said neither Clayton or Marcello are exactly pulling up trees at present so need to shake the forward line up a bit. One alternative is to let Dallas play down the centre, has pace and ability, has a good track record earlier for scoring goals and would certainly surprise Preston !!!!! ( and me !!)

We are not scoring enough goals as it is. Where are the goals coming from in that line up?

I think there's a very good case for dropping Trotta, and Clayton but our lack of decent alternatives weakens it considerably unfortunately. It's not just the forwards though, the midfield have to contribute more offensively. Both Donaldson and Trotta were far too isolated yesterday.

Agree that Mac needs to come in to midfield for this match. Also agree that Clayton should play though the middle. Was not there yesterday but mates who were both agree with my view that Clayton now very much running on empty. Mac & Dougie will need to let Saville provide the front three whilst they screen the back four. Would not be surprised though to see Reeves start in the providor role though.

Preston will come looking for the three points & spoiling for a real scrap & packing the midfield. A point would not be the worst result. With Wolves likely to beat Rotherham whilst looking to sew up the title even a draw should leave just us & Orient fighting for second. With O's at home to Wolves Easter Monday we could well settle it at Franchise FC on the same day. Here's hoping !

There really is absolutely no point resting anyone now. This is it! Crunch time! Now or never!

We have to field our strongest team - both in the physical sense and in the footballing sense. Preston will be tough and competitive; this game will not be the right place for Dallas or Reeves who both have skill but lack the physical resilience required. We need to match fire with fire - especially given that a draw is a very acceptable result.

I know it's not perfect. There are individuals there who are physically and mentally knackered. But I'm only asking for one big push. Just one win and a draw or two and we can all go on holiday!

Let's see how Clayton and Trotta are after a midweek without a match

Totally ludicrous that starting our big money striker signing is an option hardly considered by most of us.

We need Grigg to contribute at this key point if the season.

I wish we could start with him and give the others a rest but its too much of a risk

Yup.

I am so over last saturday. Preston is the biggest game in our History (as of this week). Lets go out and prove that we are the best team in this division, win the game and promotion is 90% done.
