Promotion Chances

Let's face it. We will not win the play-offs. We have been there time and time again and we will never win the final. Therefore, automatic promotion is our only hope. Looking at the table, overtaking Brighton or Reading is certainly feezable, but what about the fixtures?

Stoke - draw or loss. Can't see us winning this, although we did score two at the Brittania. Presuming this is a draw, would put us 3rd in much the same position as we are now. Without Zamora, Brighton shouldnt pull away from us.

Bury - should win. This is an important match, winning it will put us in a great position, and without Zamora, could well put us 2nd.

Huddersfield - i could see us winning this, however could well be draw or loss.

Losing points against Huddersfield and Stoke, will see them both leapfrog us!

QPR - draw, 0-0 again. Getting one point, never creaps you up the table, unfortunately.

Reading - could win, getting us the double. From the predictions above, a win here is a must.

I think, that we will end up 4th or 3rd. But results in our matches at Stoke and Huddersfield could put us 2nd, or even 1st!!! What do you all think?

Funny enough, I'm most worried about the Bury game. As we have seen throughout the season to date, the Bees have been at their best against the top teams. There's a risk that they might just relax a bit against Bury who, as we know, are fighting for their lives.

Evo has called all five games left "Cup Finals" - that's the spirit. Five fabulous performances and we could (no, will) get automatic promotion.

As for the Play-offs, if it comes to it, I think we could get through - depending very much on how the remaining five games of the season go.

I'm really looking forward to Saturday - I think we are more than capable of beating Stoke. Let's hope we do.

I have to agree with Buzz Bee. Somehow i can't see us winning any final no matter who it is against.

Our best chance is automatic promotion. My Predictions:

Bury- we win 3-0
Stoke- tense 1-1 draw
QPR- I know we are going to win this 1
Huddersfiled-another 3 points for the super Bees
Reading-God knows

As I see it, it's between us, Reading, Stoke and Huddersfield for the Auto spots

We've got them all at home - massive games - but its in our hands

If they play with the passion, skill, team spirit and self-belief they showed at Blackpool then we're up

Like Evo, treat every game as a cup final, give 100% in your support, "bring a bod", go to Bury (yes, it's a long way, but we won't be back there for years) and get behind the lads.

Stoke away we were as good as them but erros cost us.
Bury will be tricky.
Huddersfiled I think home form will see us through
QPR well nuff said.
Reading we will be fighting for the champiobnship and we will come out on top.

But I am ever the optimist as I never have much luck.

Howvere if this does not happen we will win the playoffs on the day the boys will do it and I think Coppell is the best manager in the division to motivate players for the big occasions

The pitch at Gigg Lane is awful and could prove to be a great leveller
To be promoted automatically we will need at least 12 points I feel.(ie could lose once and still go up).Winning the 3 home games(all 6 pointers so to speak)would give the confidence a great boost.
Make NO mistake,Bury and QPR away will be tough.
Sad to think that we could remain unbeaten in these 5 games and miss out on automatic promotion.
Brighton have signed Wayne Gray on loan from Wimbledon to cover for Zamora and some forthcoming suspensions.That could work either way for them I feel.
In my heart we will make it.
In my head we may just miss out.
Sorry about that but it's just how I feel.

The league table does not lie, It says that we are better than Stoke and Huddersfield, that is why we are placed higher. Yes we need to show them respect, like we must show all teams respect (especially Bury and QPR).

We have won at Reading and have done the double over Brighton so maybe the table does tell little white lies.

What is important though is that we beleive and take each game as it coems without being nervous. We must also take any disappointments on the chin and in the context of the season.

What we must not do is to let our nerves that we may have transport to the players. If we dont beleive they are good enough, how will they.

Brighton and Reading both surrendered their lead twice last week, so if we go a goal down we can always beleive that we will get it back. When we are in front we must defend as if it was still 0-0.

We must all rember though that football is a sport and something that should be enjoyed.
It is a team game and although us supporters are not actually playing we are part of our team. Our performance in the stands and on the terraces needs to be just as passionate and consistant as if we were actually on the grass.

We would all go mad if a player dropped his head when things went wrong, we would all be disappointed if any over players were overawed by the occasion that they find themselves in. It is therefore vital that we look at ourselves and our performances. As individuals we must all be able to walk out of GP with our heads held high knowing that we have given our best and could do no more.

Its our team, Its our club and we have got a brilliant opportunity. Neither ourseleves or our representatives on the pitch can be nervous (let Reading and Brighton do the worringing). We must be as supportive and as understanding of our representatives as we would be if they were our children.

The only thing we do need to worry about is ourselves and own personnal performance, becuase they are the only this we can control.

Let the choruses of "Come on You Reds" ring around the ground and let those who don't join in take a good look at themselves before they even consider critising those who we support.


Our promotion will not be won on the pitch alone.

This truly is the secret to winning.

A truly team effort, fans included. If the fans believe it, and will it, they can will the team to victory. The team will respond to the fans continued support and will to win regardless of how the game is progressing.

Remember Peter Taylor said how nervous his team were, even at 2 - 0 up and it cost them the two points.

Be the extra edge for the guys on Saturday. Unconditionally.

Ive seen all but two games this season at home.

We are good, we are very good.

To quote Ayes B, 'the league table doesn't lie'.

The trouble has been aginst lower opposition, we play to their standard.

Take the Bury and Cambridge games. They were not the best games of football I have seen at GP. We won 5-1 and 3-0. We played to their standard.

Against Brighton, we put the pressure on and we were awsome. I truely believe we can be awsome again against Stoke, Huddersfield and Reading.

Look at it from Stoke, Reading and Huddersfields point of view. THEY HAVE TO COME TO US, so there is more pressure on them.

Well we've overcome the first major hurdle and that was selling our decent players. I also really feared that Blackburn might sell Burgess. All smiles here!!

My next point is that if we do goto the playoffs unless we have a major injury crisis we will win them. Playing 5 cup finals with 3 of the teams in the top 5 means plenty of good practice against decent sides.

Our fate is in the players hands and what a special team of players they are! They will succeed no questions.
