Well like all things there is always a downside to success...

The price of going to see games next season especially away ones...

Being treated like scum in these shiny new boxes of stadia...

Opposing fans coming to griffin park looking to smash up the place on an old school traditional football day out beano.....

Refrees who always favour the big clubs....

The money we will be forced to fork out on wages to give ourselves a fighting chance of staying up!!!

TBH Mate........... I'm more worried about the length of the queues getting into the toilets in the Bill Axbey stand ;)

Should MB fund the whole campaign himself or isn't right that the fans should help contribute towards next season when we are in the higher division.

....some fair points....but would take all of them on chin if it comes to it.... its all if's and maybees ...lets see where we are at 5pm on 19th before building the barricades at fortress GP....WE ARE BRENTFORD and if we stand together,both the side and supporters, we wont be gettin bullied by anyone,on or off the pitch:nono:

I agree with hullbee, perhaps we should ask the fa to swap us with portsmouth? they have the facilities for a championship club so it makes sense that we play in league 2 next season instead of them :sorted:

Mock me all you want there will be plenty of grumblings on this thread over the next twelve months about our friends in the higher leagues!!! Also I am 100per cent confident in promotion in a couple of weeks I predicted it on here last may a few days before purchasing my season ticket. Finish third and up through playoffs

Those downsides do absolutely no where come close to reaching the benefits of promotion. I thought this thread would be about little things.

Such as: It's a shame we won't play Wolves if we go up...

Away tickets for ALL games need to be bought in advance in the Championship

My friend who lives almost directly opposite the away end says that when there's a lot of away fans, they sometimes can be annoying and chuck rubbish over his fence into his garden... (Southend and Pompy being the worst apparently). So I fear his garden may get worse...

But playing QPR, Millwall, Charlton, Palace (Possibly), Watford (possibly) and Reading is better than playing all our local League One teams....Leyton Orient.

Did anyone see SS News today the idiot from the Sun in the paper review ??

Basically he said that the nightmare scenario for any of the Premier League clubs in the
relegation fight this year is the prospect of having to play "Brentford or Yeovil" next season !!!!

Same thing written in the Mail. Very patronising I thought and too ignorant to realise/know that gates go up as you rise the divisions.

This is where I think using a category thing for our games could come in handy next year. I mean, you know a lot of club will be charging more than us, so why not get extra out of our expected big games such as QPR, Reading and even Watford (maybe)..

And also a Membership card where you get credit for attending each game (even paying cash on the day)

When it comes to playing the big games

Sell it on Loyalty points first

Of course the prices would go up.

I'd quite happily pay £30 to watch Brentford v QPR, or Brentford v Reading, or Brentford v Birmingham, isntead of paying £22 to watch Brentford v Port Vale, woudlnt you?

Plus local away games next year of;

  1. QPR
  2. Reading
  3. Millwall
  4. Crystal Palace/Watford
  5. Ipswich (for me anyway)
  6. Charlton

I suspect there are some pretty unattractive fixtures in the Championship to go with the juicy ones.

Burnley, Blackpool, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Bournemouth, Doncaster - not exactly teams that are going to draw huge crowds to Griffin Park.

(This thread is crazy ... it takes pessimism to new heights!)

Surely this thread should be scrapped! We all want promotion so surely its not a downside! We see our great time where we all want it to be playing and being tested against top teams in the country and imagine the qpr game that'll be a buzz (excuse the pun) positive thinkin people please. We all wanted this now we're looking for a negative in it, 1 more game to go and good luck to the lads i know they can do it!

Totally with you. Add to that queues for beer and people pissing up near the fence as cannot get in the toilets and running out of hand sanitizer. Also always look forward to FA cup 1st round and that will be a thing of the past :sad:

Stupid bloody thread:

1) There is the slight matter of beating a team that has already beaten us home and away this season and against who we have an awful record
2) Not a lot of point of all the fuss and bother going to the games this season in case we happen to go up.
3) The possible games in the Championship next season against Reading, QPR, Millwall, Brighton, Watford,Palace, Charlton sort of seem a little more interesting than our normal league 1 fare.

Is this an entry for the most over dramatic, depressing and negative thread of all time competition?

We have won a magnificent penalty shoot out, we are going to wembley, the dust has not settled and we have even gone up yet and you are wanting to point out all the dreadful things that promotion will bring us. Surely this is what we have been going through hell for the past few weeks for and the last 20 years come to that ??

I'm assuming Hullbee is on a wind up, agree with Reading bee about the Khazi congestion in New Road. If we do it I know that I'm looking forward to virtually every game, Blackpool, Huddersfield and Barnsley are so so, Burnley I've never done so while doesn't excite would need to be visited. The rest yes please- QPR, Reading, Newcastle/Villa, Watford, Brighton, Palace, Leicester, Forest, Derby, Bolton, Charlton, Birmingham, Leeds, Ipswich, Boro, Sheff Weds, Millwall, B'Muff.

Compare that to Crawley, Stevenage, Gillingham, Rotherham, Port Vale, Orient, Crewe, Colchester, Oldham, Shrewsbury, Carlisle, Northampton/Bradford.

I know it all changes if we were ever to become a Premiership club but the last 48 games have shown why this club and team are so special and a spell in the Championship won't see any changes for the worse. Hopefully a big increase in season ticket holders with lots of new young fans who've started coming and enjoyed the run in or better still kids who saw us on the telly and fancied getting along to GP as good atmosphere and easy to get on the pitch.

Getting carried away as we're not there yet but a promotion can only be a positive thing for most Bees

Sometimes I wonder why you bother. Is it to get some reaction? Winding people up? Trolling?

What is the point in Brentford FC playing league footbal if promotion has a downside? They may as well play over at Gunnersbury Park on a Sunday.

The upside is greater home support. More coverage. Better players. Better football. New grounds. Etc etc. If we want to pay players £500 a week we may as well play boring League 2 or conference football. I do wonder what MB thinks when he reads this. Why does he bother? A fella pumps £30 mill into BFC and you find a downside to possible success. Incredible.

The only downside for me would be playing in a cramped outdated GP rather than Lionel rd
and getting 15K to 20K every other week.
I can live with a rammed GP for the moment though !!!

Honestly, what a silly statement! You wouldnt want us playing QPR, Reading, Middlesbrough every week? Rather it would stay at Rotherham, Walsall etc?

I agree, whilst we have a great season we still have one more game to win. Despite the extra money from both chelsea cup games and the revenue from wembley, we need to be playing in the championship long term to help build and fund lionel road. Like many supporters i have waited a long time for this oppertunity.

Not saying it won't be good in the championship just realise there is also a downside this thread is designed to give people the opportunity to discuss these downsides... Bit like the Tories have done wonders for the economy but this has caused some problems...

It's actually a positive thread as it assumes promotion has been achieved...

Oh well lets get relegated for a couple of seasons and play against Aldershots and Lutons. Our fans are not all lovely people and we will soon have a fantastic new stadium to play our silky skills in and we will end up in the top tier as and when we are ready taking huge amounts from the football League and TV coverage. Bring it on as soon as you can please.

Getting Lionel road as an established championship club would be great. But averaging 10k in gp while getting there would be special.

The big boys will hate coming to gp, changing in changing rooms the size of their second guest bedroom's en suite and having 8-9k bees singing rather than concentrating on their prawn sandwiches. And if we can go up again...

Can't beleive that a) I have read this thread and b) bothering to reply

Yesterday was fantastic and we are one game away from promotion, we may win or the popular choice of Yeovil might. That being the case why be so bloody negative? Yes prices will go up crowds will increase and parking will be difficult. Big deal would rather have that than be like Daggenham etc

If its such a worry go and support a club that's cheap and has low gates. FFS lets at least enjoy the next couple of weeks !!!!!!!
