Push up Brentford

Listening to the Colin Murrey show now and a woman presenter on the show said she sits in the Bill Axby stand and a bloke always shouts push up brentford so they have decided whenever Brentford are mentioned they will shout it out.

Push up Brentford

...............yep.................keeping it tight as well...............

Push up Brentford

How many mentions of Brentford on that show this morning.Every 5 minutes.

I pick up a blind lad who is not the full ticket on a Friday and Brentford got a mention in the traffic report.
He says" I would not like to go there"
"Its paradise you would love it.The epicentre of the world where the holy grail at Griffin Park is situated. Why do you think there was a prang? So many people flock there.Because it is a lovely place to be and tomorrow I will be there to see it in all its glory".
Not to sure he got what I was trying to say.

Not seen or heard this bloke recently is he still on the scene? Hope so good lad

To be fair, after that speech he probably describes you as "not the full ticket" ;)

Push up Brentford

Had the joy(?) of sitting next to him at the Valley Cup replay years ago. Scarred for life, & I think I've subconsciously always hidden on the Terrace ever since.

Push up Brentford

............he is still about.............

Push up Brentford

He was sat behind me..last season v Carlisle.....highlight of the day really.....Bees lost 2-0 ..BTW....lol...You Reds...

Push up Brentford

That bloke was in full flow last night, shouting "push up brentford!" even before a posh corner was taken at one point.

New road legend.

Push up Brentford

There used to be old bloke who stood on the Braemar Road terrace, who took great delight in observing: "You're wearing your stripes, Brentford, now earn them".

It was kinda funny the first time, but after hearing it 2 or 3 times every game, the humour soon wore thin.

Is he still to be had? He'd probably be in his 80's now, if he is.

Push up Brentford

My favourite as a kid was a nutter in the early-mid 70's in the New Road who looked a bit like Terry Jacks the bloke from Superstars and always wore a sheepskin.
He used to yell out at the top of his voice at least 4 of 5 times a game "Grass him Nelmo" and it always made everyone who heard laugh aloud.

Just out of interest Jock do you always have to put a laughing face and ..You Reds on all your posts ?

Push up Brentford

Whats the story behind the old bloke in the 9ft long hand knitted red n white scarf?
A regular on Ealing rd and on travels. Has it festooned with those metal badges which must weight him down in the wet
A bit like an ammunition belt for an mpg... Looks rather well with the pan sized rosette.

Also has Bees plastic mug clipped to the scarf.

Sounds like Ron

"Push up Brentford", "Keep it tight" man is only a legend if you're not sitting within 30 yards of him. If you're within that boundary, 90mins feels like 90 years!! Can't fault the bloke's passion or support though. The phrase a "double edge sword" fits like a glove.

Ahem, there is a lol and a You Reds missing from this post Jockbee. It's just not the same without them.

Do u mean Brian Jacks ? Terry Jacks sung seasons in the sun didn't he ?

'Make it yours...' - a guy I believe called Chas, who always wore a very long scarf, with rosettes, round his neck, used to hang to down below his waist! Stood near front central Royal Oak in the 70s. When that stand got knocked down all the characters got dispersed around the ground, so don't know if he still comes to GP.

remember him well used to stand near him as a nipper

Still goes. Saw him in the Ealing Road. Also at a few away games this year. Still wearing the scarf too.

Push up Brentford

Old boy in D block, when one of the opposition was injured always said "dig a hole and bury him". Wore thin after a while.

Push up Brentford

Still see Chas at games, used to stand with him, plus Keith, the bloke whose name I have forgotten (sorry) but wears a Brentford waistcoat plus others, however as time went on we all dispersed but still can be seen staggering around ( age not booze!!!)

Does he still shout 'make it yours'?

In the 70s in the vicinity of Chas, his brother, I believe, and Mrs Pat Brown who used to arrange away buses, were the same fans week in week out. There was also Frank Coumbe who wrote articles for the match day programme, and his dad in the same area. If the RO hadn't been knocked down, we would probably still be there at home games!

Push up Brentford

Had the great pleasure to be next to the push up man at Exeter a few years ago.It was quality and I can just imagine what other people who do not know of him think when hearing him.Brentford over the years have many characters Tony Ross being one.Brentford through and through.May we continue to have these characters turnung up.

Push up Brentford

When Braemar Road paddock was terrace he stood towards the Ealing Road end about 3 rows back..To this day I sometimes wake up with his incessant shouts going round my head... 20 years on and still the same advice..doesn't he realise its a different game now?

With the modern tactical term "playing a high line" ( favoured by AVB and the like) you could say he was 20 years ahead of his time..the guy is not eccentric but really a tactical genius!

Push up Brentford

I love the fact when others mock him by shouting push up Brentford he is effected and continues in the same rthymn

That's a very funny post. Made me laugh anyway.

Push up Brentford

.............they're rocking Brentford they're rocking............on fine form today............

Push up Brentford

There used to be another bloke years ago in the Bill Axbey Stand family area side who would always say "come on Brentford, you're ready Brentford" the same phrase over and over! I can't remember what year it was around.

Push up Brentford

Used to stand near a guy called Lee Lynch who sang in an Irish show band, great sense of humour wonder if he is still around? (New Road)

Push up Brentford

Does he also say push ups Brentford before the match when they warm up?
Not heard that one, but have heard it when we're defending set pieces (before the ball has been kicked).
He doesn't annoy me, I'd be quite sad if he wasn't there. He's a New Road fixture.

Push up Brentford

He got a mention in the best man's speech at my wedding. I used to drag my brother to some Bees games. He hated it and this is his enduring memory of it!

Push up Brentford

In the late 90s I used to stand near Chas on the Ealing Road. When we won a corner he always used to sing "ooh it's a corner, ooh it's a corner , come on you Reds, come on you Reds". Also, anytime the away fans appealed for a handball to be given against a Bees player he'd always shout "handball?! he's not bloody deformed". Always the same, the words stick in your head after a while.

Push up Brentford

Talking of characters at GP.....There was this German bloke who used to go to griffin park...i think he sat sort of in the middle of Bill Axby...he used to shout positive things at the team to gee them up...a bit like 'push up Brentford' man but no where near as dedicated.....he dressed really smartly....

Was he bald and quite skinny? I think I know who you mean.
