QPR V Bees Reports

I may as well get the ****ing ball rolling on this **** as I need to get it out of my system.

I am really not enjoying this season....ok, I am ready for it...."young players, great owner, new ground, great football etc et-fekkin-cetera". I know all that, but I am sick and tired of my weekends being ruined by us throwing games away.

A pretty drab first half livened up by Sergi running them ragged and the half being brought down by a disappointing Vibe no show.

Second half and we start to play, Woods, Canos and Mojo superb all game and we score a terrific goal and Vibe suddenly has got his spark back and is working hard. I would have hooked him at half time so what do I know. Ollie came on for Josef early on and other than a couple of decent runs on the left was not really at it tonight.
Sawyers came on for Canos which I couldn't understand cos he was brilliant but maybe he was tired, but it turned out to be a master stroke as Sawyers was majestic. We saw the Romaine jekyll and hide show tonight but more on that later. He created a wonderful second goal with a back heeled one two and a peach of a cross for Vibe to seal the points.

Then onto injury time, where do you fekkin start on this. I can't blame the ref because although he made some howlers he could easily have given them a penalty, I don't blame DS because the subs were the right ones at the right time. I blame the players for the moronic way they tried to see the game out. Some examples from injury time.

- 91st minute, Long ball, Smith pushes Egan, free kick. Nico grabs it, puts it down and takes a quick one, 15 seconds later QPR are on the counter.

- 92 minutes, free kick against Smith, he kicks it away in frustration. JC runs over and collects it, puts it down and takes a quick one and we are suddenly hoiking it forwards to nobody. Why don't we let them get the ball back, they kicked away. We could have killed a minute.

- 92.5 minutes on the clock, we are 2.0 up and it s a Bees corner. We pile everyone up top and leave JC and Nico 2 v 1 at the back. Sawyers goes for a short one, no says ollie and waves him away and we lob it in the box and bosh, goal kick. 25 seconds later they have a corner and score from it. Why, oh fekking why oh why didn't we leave 5 at the back and take a short corner, give a throw away, foul someone, kick the ball away and take a yellow etc etc.

Too many examples to write them all down but it is basic fukking schoolboy stuff, my u12 team last season were better at seeing out a game out than this lot. All the good undone by stupidity.

Sawyers was brilliant when he came on, but Christ that was a 75-25 tackled he pulled out of that led to their second goal. We all knew at 2.1 it would be 2.2 but Christ didn't we blow it.

There are two ways to beat Brentford and until we sort them out we will always be a mid table championship side (not a bad place to be I know, but it should be so much better). Firstly if you park the bus you will get something out of the game, secondly if you put a big lump up top and lob long balls you will at some point score a goal because we can't defend long balls, high balls and the keeper drops at least one catch a game. Play the % game and you will get your chance to score, sit deep and you will restrict us to long shots, the chances ar you will nick a draw or a win.

The only 2 games I have come away from with a smile are Millwall (and only cos they missed a pen with a few mins to go) and maybe Villa cos we were brilliant even though again we tore defeat from the jaws of victory. Other than that it has been frustrating and deflating ad you leave feeling like sh*t.

Every long ball tonight caused chaos second half, was it Bentley not calling, is it the defenders too slow and miss judging long balls or their inability to clear a ball. At least boot it of the pitch and not straight up in the bloody air for a change. Every long ball in the box is like the keystone cops, so bloody tiresome to watch.

Anyway, that's enough for now.

Thoroughly fed up.

Difficult to disagree with any of that Mhead...

QPR V Bees Reports

Good write up Mhead. Just thankful we weren't 1up going into injury time.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but would have loved Mepham on for the last ten to double up on their only real threat in Matt Smith

On highlights looks like blatant handball for equaliser.

QPR V Bees Reports

Easy to be downhearted about the last 2 minutes. It’s right to highlight some of the game management. That could be the shock that a few can really learn from. Do that and this could still be a fantastic season.

I'm ****ing????

2-0 up with 2 minutes to go !!!

How Just how I'm at a loss

You're not wrong but you're getting right on my Hampton, you were whinging about train journey times vs keeping your son safe and sound next to you with no parking spaces.
We're all hacked off about the result we don't need your "expert opinion" we were there as well.

Sticking on Mepham would’ve invited them on to us more. I don’t have much of an issue with the subs. It worked for the second goal and, maybe, Yennaris off and MacLeod on? It Maupay for Vibe. But putting on Mepham would’ve seen us sitting back more. It’s just poor game management that lost the 2 points tonight.

Agree with all that. So much effort thrown away by stupid game management. We look terrific going forward but every time the opposition get in our box we look like conceding.

You are probably right, we looked more likely to get the third until we hit the 90 minute mark

Matt Smith is 6ft 6 and 16 stone, what difference would a 20 year old, inexperienced and light weight Mepham have made?

It's a match report on a match report thread, if you don't want to read it go to bed and turn your computer off. What did you expect to read in this thread. In the match thread all you do is give your opinion about game management etc and pretty much say the same thing as me so why don't you wrap up for the night.

QPR V Bees Reports

Brentford manager Dean Smith told BBC Radio London:

"Officials didn't do their jobs and we didn't do our jobs in the penalty box.

"There was a clear foul on Ollie Watkins in the middle of the pitch and it doesn't get given. We switched off from the short corner and Daniel Bentley should do better.

"Then they win the ball from the kick-off and Romaine Sawyers pulls out of a challenge and gets a foul given against him. I feel frustrated and aggrieved.

"We've dropped two points because of the officials."

Hmmm! Sorry Mr.Smith I think we lost because QPR didn't stop playing at 0-2 and our players switched off before the finish line.

I’d be amazed if DS didn’t agree with you. Why would he say so in public? I’d be amazed if he doesn’t have plenty of points to make to the players but he’s too good a man manager to steam into them in public after such a nearly great night.

QPR V Bees Reports

I was largely very supportive at the beginning of the season, players didn't deserve the stick they got. We then got into a good run of form and everything looked good.

But they absolutely bottled that game, to concede twice in injury time is pathetic. Players need to look long and hard at themselves because they're being paid a fortune to churn out sh*t like that.

QPR V Bees Reports

OK first half where Sergi stood out a mile and happy enough at 0-0. Started 2nd half sloppy and they nearly scored, however weathered the storm and Lasse wakes up and scores a lovely goal. Everyone goes awol for 15 minutes but we hang on. Romaine comes on and wins the game for us with some brilliant play finished off by Lasse. Good away performance and the fans in great voice, we get another one up on local rivals, more bragging rights!!!

Or do we?

Really disappointed at work here today.

Think all my frustrations and gripes will be well versed on this thread anyway.

But taking a step back. I'd rather be Brentford than that shower. Truly awful brand of football and the longer Holloway stays there the better. They are up the down escalator.

QPR V Bees Reports

I can't recall what game it was but Mepham was very effective as a screen in midfield against a team that went long ball. Quite frankly though at 2-0 up with 10 to go and fairly comfortable, it probably didn't cross many minds to do that.

It’s ok to be gutted, but where’s the balance in that post? Play like that every week, improve a few things and we should be delighted.

QPR V Bees Reports

Well i have never felt as deflated like this in a long time. In fact i think there are two games that have made me feel like this........... Doncaster and Reading. Im sorry to say this but there are 11 players that need to hang their head after that last 2 min showing. For *** sake how s**t is our game management. All the hard work and two great goals undone by two minutes of stupidity. Which is why IMO we are not good enough to go up.

To be honest we didnt actually play that well IMO. They pressed us and looked far more up for it. I thought we took our chances and that would be it.

A well and truly pissed off fan over here.

I'd have put Mepham on but played him at defensive holding, 10 yards in front of the back line; he's young but sprightly enough to protect the flanks where our full backs were getting overloaded far too often and allowing crosses to come in. Anyway, it was just naivety, particularly from Watkins, and lack of any form of game management that allowed them to take the initiative in the last 4 minutes. We were the better team for the 90.

At 1-0 maybe. At 2-0 though?

QPR V Bees Reports

First half we were the better of two very average looking sides.

Second half we came out, Sergi tore them a new arsehole and we looked the part, taking a deserved lead. Then they put Matt Smith on, we sh*t ourselves and for 15/20 means it appears to be only a matter of time before they get an equaliser.

Sawyers comes on, we regain our composure and score a delightful second. At this point if there are more goals coming it’s Brentfotd who will score them.

80-90 mins we’re completely comfortable and QPR have all but given up. Then the board goes up, and over confidence/lack of experience means we turn our own corner into one for them. Bentley flaps and it’s 1-2.

From that point we just completely sh*t ourselves and you knew what was coming.

Seeing those celebrations in a deserted stadium was quite surreal. I don’t think I’ve felt this low after a game since Doncaster.

Spot on, forget blaming Watkins or wishing we put Meps on, we need more experience if we have serious aspirations. Don't get me wrong we'll be fine but we won't win f*** all without more experienced players.

I think the writing was on the wall at 1-0; Maupay was lined up to replace Vibe and go for the second when the move of the match got us that second. At that moment, it was no longer necessary to bring Maupay on, so a minute's rethink would have allowed a different substitute decision. Go 4-1-4-1, with Mepham the defensive 1 and Watkins up top and give more width in midfield to stop crosses.

Of course, it's easy to be wise after the event but it was clear to me at the time that our defensive cover went AWOL, just like Burton, and something had to change.

QPR V Bees Reports

As for that scrote Tommy Smith he finally nailed his colours to the mast and described QPR twice as “we”.

QPR V Bees Reports

match report - speechless how we threw that away. that wasn't the officials faiult, that wasn't the manager's fault, that was down to the players not knowing how to see a well deserved win out. at 2-1 you think at least they got a consolation but that's it. we looked f'ing clueless from the restart. which is a real shame cos there was a lot to like for the 90-odd minutes beforehand, not least of which was Sergi looking rampant and easily the best player on the park. gahhhhhhhahhahhahgahhhahagahhhagahhh

So, so angry with that. We weren't at our best but stuck at it and scored 2 great goals and looked comfortable at the end. And then.... It's not even that it was at QPR, it's the fact that we've done it time and time again this season and in true Warburton style we don't appear to be learning.. Smith should have been screaming at them to slow things down and close it out. Sawyers will get the blame no doubt but if your defence sh*ts itself every time there's a hopeful punt into the box to a useless lump then you're not going to get anywhere..Something needs doing but what? Defensive coach? Shake up in personnel? God knows.. On the positive side Vibe got his mojo back and Canos looked every inch the worthy successor to King Jota's crown, once fully fit he's going to be a gem.. Injury to flojo and Maupay's suspension and suddenly we're looking a little light in the squad for Sat.

Agree with that. Smith could do nothing about that.

QPR V Bees Reports

We need a leader in the middle of the park and it's not Nico. We needed a player to shout at Ollie to take a short corner and sit on the ball for our last corner. A player like Douglas or McCormack who's not afraid of upsetting his team mates and saying it as it is.

Tonight reminded me of Antonio crossing the ball for West Ham the other week and conceding a goal at the other end.

Keep possession or time waste a little and Smith's goal would have been a consolation and nothing else.

There were positives tonight but I don't think any of us want to see them right now!

Good point mate. Smith should have re-thought the sub. But its easy to look back i suppose.

QPR V Bees Reports

Simply at 2-0 our game
Plan should have changed to a sit tight and see it out. 5-4-1, nothing silly, old school defending, pick up a yellow if necessary.
Definitely at 2-0 there should have been a noticeable tactical change to DEFEND. And when will Bentley learn to just catch the friggin ball? As a GK you have an advantage that you can use your hands. It’s also fairly obvious that there may be a massive communication problem between GK and centre halves in regards to decisions as to who clears the ball etc. I want to hear Bentley shouting at Bjelland and co to get out of the way and barging through everyone to claim the ball. It’s his box to dominate

QPR V Bees Reports

Seems like I'm upsetting lots of expert Bees supporters tonight, Bixer, Mhead and Les so I apologise as probably me.
However I'm not agreeing with anyone who doesn't believe that we were by far the better team who deserved to win.
We dropped two points tonight from a winning position for about the 8th time this season because we lack the experience to manage games and results.
Mhead disagrees and thinks we're doing fine and I'm just angry, I'm not I'm loving this season but FFS think how much better it could be if we hadn't been so naive, gullible and lacking in nous to close games out we've dominated and were ahead in?

QPR V Bees Reports

What a shame after a good 90minutes performance.A nieve shambles for 4 minutes, school boy stuff. We need to learn how to close out a game. Down to the coaching staff it's not rocket science.

QPR V Bees Reports

We’re still only 8 points off 6th (that is until Derby play tonight).
At 90 mins, I was thinking about which pub to go to for a celebratory pint. At 94 mins, I just wanted to go home to bed. If I’d have realised then we were only the mere 8 points off top 6, I’d have gone for that pint.

QPR V Bees Reports

Bentley's been making a few mistakes in recent weeks, which have led directly to goals. He seems to be having problems about coming out and not making the crossed ball, plus the one he dropped the other week.

No player is free from being dropped, but apart from all that's mentioned above about playing the game out and "wasting time, I think Bentley is to blame for their first goal, which gave them the opportunity to get back in with a chance, which they took for the 2nd. Perhaps, a brief rest would sharpen him up in competing for his place.

We have a major weakness in allowing other teams back in, when we could have spun out the last minute without conceding the 2nd.

The only consolation is that we didn't lose, although it feels like that, and we moved up the table.

We used to be good at surprising teams in the last few minutes, now we are the ones that are being surprised.

However, after so many years after seeing us occasionally do something so totally unexpected, give me 24 hours to get over it, and then we'll take it out on Fulham big time on Saturday.

QPR V Bees Reports

For Xmas, Can we have a big brutal defender who boots the ball to Acton as required?

That is the nail on the head. I think we are all pissed off with the fact that we cant hold onto a 2-0 win with 2 minutes to go. For me i dont think we actually played that well. But we got the job done and then imploded with that last few minutes of stupidity.

Why oh why we didnt play the ball short from the corner of smash it into the corner after the restart at 2-1 is beyond me.

The big thing is that this squad needs to GROW UP and learn the basic thing quickly. It pains me to say it but you would not see a Neil Warnock team doing that. Pure stupidity and IMO a few minutes that could kill our season off due to the confidence hit.

i've just watched the last 15 minutes on catch up, it's not even 4 minutes of poor defending, it's about 90 seconds of madness. decision for their free kick was well dodge but at the same time, we've got to be able to deal with a free kick routine that is basically lumping it up to the big bloke.

I dont think it was them. For Xmas i want some players to have the ability to turn on the game management style of Boro or a Warnock team for 5 minutes.
