Rasmus Replacement?

"Will Berg take over at Ankersen in Brentford or will he take Ankersen to Southampton? Both places will be obvious, but I put my money on Brentford"



Flemming Berg, 49, has been at the forefront of DBU's talent development since 2015 in his position as talent development manager at DBU, but from 1 April 2022, he will no longer be there.
This is stated by DBU on its website, where it appears that Berg has instead accepted a position abroad as sports director.

- Danish talent development is right now on a solid foundation, both in the club and national team. We perform at an unprecedentedly high level. We play football that creates results and excites, says Berg on DUB's website and continues.

- We have talented people around the youth national teams, both in terms of coaching staff and staff members. There are no limits to our opportunities - if we continue to develop and invest - together, clubs and federations.

- It has been an incredibly difficult decision to leave a fantastic workplace, which is much more than work. But I have been given a unique opportunity as sports director in an international club, and I had to pursue that, Berg explains about the decision.

Which club it is, the club is not yet interested in having announced.
DBU further writes that they will now start the hunt for a new talent development manager.

Phil has already said there’s no addition to him as DOF.

I was of the opinion that Rasmus was the man who dealt with playing, coaching matters, etc the football side, and Phil dealt with the Stats, scouting, contracts side etc. So Phil is not a football man.

He didn’t deal with playing or coaching matters and was tasked with transfers abroad and some select U.K. transfers. I would not underestimate Phil’s footballing knowledge.

I’d have thought Phil could bore the pants off anyone with his football knowledge, particularly of the relative merits of different playing styles, in an entirely dispassionate way, while Rasmus was the touchstone for player character assessment.

Flemming Berg is the new Sportsdirector at Memelodi Sundowns in Pretoria.

So South Africa it was......

Out for an adventure. I guess a lot different than being employed by the the Danish Football Association.
