£10K I think you will find it will be nearer £25K!!

You better get your calculator out then! :D

What is Wally on per year? None of us know, but the reported figure is £40k.

Now divide that into 12 months, I can tell you that is £16,667 over five months. When it comes to paying someone off, surely we don't have to pay 100%. Even if we do, is £17k really that much to improve our on-pitch prospects when you consider how much other certain members of under-performing staff were paid?

Wally Downes is the 2nd worst manager in Brentford's history, if you compare league games over 50 matches, he falls behind Mike Everitt, but is closing in
Has Wally got a contract? Steve Coppell didn't

You can't just sack someone and not pay up their full contract unless they are being dismissed for disciplinary reasons, also I think you will find that he is on excess of £50K!! He may be owed other out of pocket expenses and holiday pay, pension etc etc and even a bonus at the end of the season if we do not go down. You stated it would cost £10K to get rid, I suggest it will be nearer £30K. If you then include Thompson, possibly Stannard, you could then be looking at around £60K to £70k in total. If we have that to spend on getting rid of managers and coaches why not spend much less of it on a decent experienced mid field player until May 04 and possibly another experienced back up keeper or whoever else is required?
Sacking the manager doesn't guarantee survival this season nor does the new players, but surely we know any new manager would want to get a few new players in but by then any possible spare cash has been spent sacking the previous regime.
At the end of the season, if needs be we could then get rid for no cost.

Other than for his playing registration do we actually employ Stannard? I recall that Oli paid for him out of his own pocket at the princely rate of £100 a week.

If the Board can satisfy us that relegation will not be the death-knell for the club and that we will be in a position to rebuild and bounce back then keep Wally and take the risk. But I'd be surprised if that was their position, more so if that position had been arrived at following detailed business planning on a worst case basis. Sheesh, even Noades was no worse than that!
