Potentially season defining moment for both sides....it’s a monster !

Epic encounter and 2-2 draw (Toney and jds) ...we go top and keep 6 points distance from them....a must not lose game and we don’t, keeping the run going

I will take a point now, Reading one defeat in 8 and very good up front. If we win this I may allow myself to start getting excited.

It's not a must not lose game, we can lose 7 and still go up.

Well I think we are going to win it ! Their current form's not too bad although 3 draws out of last 6. Overall they have lost 7. Don't see any reason why shouldn't make it eight. 1-3(Ghoddos, Toney and Henrik)

Sorry I don’t totally agree with your post “no reason why we can’t nick it” I think that we should win this. Could be an interesting open game.If I remember correctly their manager was not happy at the end of the game at Brentford, just about acknowledged Thomas at the end of the game

2-1 to us hopefully, I’m sure they will get 1. They don’t handle pace particularly well I’m told from someone who writes for one of their blogs. Good game to bring back DaSilva.

We have been giving up a lot of chances in recent games and Reading have fast and clever forwards. Provided we remain solid we will pose problems for them as well and controlling possession will be the key and avoiding giving the ball away in our own half and trying not to concede cheap free kicks, which we have been a bit guilty of lately, is paramount. I think we will slowly gain control of the game and Reading will run out of ideas. 0-2 (JDS and Ivan) both goals after the hour.

Fine margins usually result in teams nicking games .IMO the best guarantee that we will do it rests on our defensive organisation which has been a bit awry recently.We need to look at that and l'm sure we have in our prep. If you look at middlesbrough we dominated them but they had great chances to score against the run of play and if they had scored the game would have changed. I agree with you that we should win it because IMO we are at this time the best team in this league but we need to stack the odds in our favour.Our defending worries me and Imo we need Josh in.

Would happily take 4 points from Boro and Reading.

They are a threat going forward and i think we are giving away too many chances atm.

Would be over the moon with a win. Especially against this lot.

Whilst I understand the intent, it's not a "must not lose game" - if we lose we can still go up.

However, we will win anyway - so who cares!

I wouldn't care if we were playing Brazil, I'm never buying in to this "I'll take a draw" before a bloody ball is kicked. What the hell is that all about? We either have ambition to be the best team in the league or we don't. It's one thing to predict a draw but quite another to want one. Proper old Brentford is that. Two down with ten minutes to go is the time to decide we'll be happy with a draw, not two days before bloody kick off! Push up Brentford! Rant over. For now.

It seems impossible to predict Brentford at the moment, not sure many would have got the 7-2,3-2,4-1 recent results,
I struggle to get our scores right but based on recent high scoring games I will say 2-3, so it will probably be 0-0 but
I wouldn't be too unhappy with that.

Every win I predict makes me feel slightly like I'm starting to take things for granted! However I do believe that we'll win...0-3. I think it will go a similar way to our lockdown game last year.

Well we are going to lose sometime, but please not against Reading, or QPR come to that. Personally I think this game has draw written all over it and I would be very happy with that.

Really? I honestly can't get my head round that. I know it's unlikely, and possibly not within the rules of the game (banana will know), but just suppose the ref says tomorrow, "Know what lads, I'm in two minds as to whether I can be bothered with this football stuff today. Tell you what, we'll either play, or just go home and have a point each. We'll let cromerbee decide". You'd honestly take the point? :confused:

And not only in your opinion. In recent weeks opposing managers have been lining up to express the view that we're the best team in the league.

In any given game the best team doesn't always win, but there's a psychological element involved in which expectations affect outcomes. We've lately developed the winning habit and expect to win, the way Manchester City this season expect and Liverpool last season expected to win. There's been an inexorability to our progress these past few weeks, and it will be important tomorrow night for the players to show early in the game who's boss.

No matter the score. I fully expect a win.

Precisely the mentality that has been missing for years. Let's leave them behind rather than trying to keep up with them. Trying to keep up with them usually results in failed playoff attempts. :sorted:

Whilst this game isn’t a ‘must win,’ victory would be a huge dent to the automatic promotion hopes of several of our rivals.

3 points tomorrow night would leave the following gaps:

Swansea - 4 points
Reading - 9 points
Watford - 9 points
Bournemouth - 12 points
Boro - 17 points






QPR - 24 points ???

1-2 to us. Their much vaunted forwards are stifled as we dominate possession. We concede from a set piece but goals from Toney and DaSilva see us really ramp up the pressure at the top....

Agreed with the fact that we should be looking for a win. Take a draw? If we did that every away game we wouldn't go up. We need to aim for as many wins as possible, and while some will end in a disappointing draw, we should win more than we don't. There is no reason to take a draw here.
