Redditch player hits referee

It's normal in amateur leagues for a player to be banned for life for this type of incident. I hope the FA do the same with this thug.

I remember seeing a ref.attacked by a Harrow Borough player at Denbigh Road following a Cup replay between Hounslow Town and the Boro about 40 years ago. The official was walking off the field at the final whistle when the player came running up behind him,grabbed him around the neck and threw him to the ground.
The player was obviously banned for life.

A fan phoned in to 606 on Saturday as I was driving back from GP. Then the Club were on 30 mins later saying they had "torn up his contract". Fan said it was a real punch too :eek:

not doing it would send out the wrong message, imho

there's a line, and from all accounts he went way over it
