Ref for Norwich

Can't find the Referee Watch thread anywhere but Anthony Taylor is ref for Saturday who coincidentally was the ref for Denmark v Finland when Christian Eriksen collapsed.

Not sure it really matters who is the ref does it? I am struggling to think of a decent ref we have had this season.

From memory Martin Atkinson at Palace was decent.
Haven't had him since.

Michael Oliver v Arsenal was excellent. It’s all been downhill since then.

Taylor was the ref at home to Chelsea. You’ll remember that they started a campaign against him in the run up to the game and he compensated accordingly by giving Chelsea everything.

Refereeing is so inconsistent even at the highest level, and with VAR.

it makes no difference who the referee is in my opinion, they’re not at the standard they should be for this level
I think in some ways VAR have made their job more difficult. Imagine. You see what you think was a handball in the area. Give a penalty. Everyone prepares after normal protests. Get message to wait for VAR. Go to touchline. Think perhaps hand didn’t move towards ball. Change decision. Cue abuse!
Same thing happens 10 minutes later at other end.
Thinks sod that. Gives nothing. VAR says wrong again. It must be like having Big Brother watching over your shoulder waiting for you to make a mistake.

These refs are better than the Championship ones, but still overall the refs could be better. But unless they make structural changes to encourage a lot more people to train and become them (and reduce abuse) then the standard is going to remain sub-par.

Either way, our season shouldn't rely on who the ref is. All clubs have the same pool of refs this season...

It's Anthony Taylor who is... well, read the tweet yourself. A brilliant deduction... not.

Haha indeed, strange phrasing.
You could equally say its two competitive games out of three for EC with the same ref

Brooks was the one who missed the Bidwell elbow on Raya last season.

Hopefully VAR will assist his poor eyesight.

Wouldn’t hold your breath, VAR is clearly different for us , everyone else just gets goals , offsides etc . We get free kicks to us checked and possible penalty checked as possible foul ?

VAR has assisted in the Everton and yesterday. Both were for high boots, leading to two penalties and btw 2 wins.

Without VAR it would have been 2-2 I think...

Three cheers for VAR.
