The F(fat)A(arses) will probably just say they do that already.

BTW talking of Atwell I seem to notice that he hasn't reffed for a few weeks now. Has somone finally got the message and told him to jack it in.

It will be 50/50 every game,if you win,it was a good ref,if you loose it was the refs fault. And why the f^^k should the football league get the premieres left overs.A bad ref is a bad ref,no matter what game they are in charge off.either have a pay as you ref, controled by a fifth official, watching the game on a tv screen, and he decides how the ref has done, or just bring in the cameras like rugby and let the offical decide when the ref aint sure.

To be fair they assess refs and if they have a bad game then they get given a week off e.g. Clattenburg and I'm sure they say that if they have too many bad games they'll get relegated anyway. The problem is they won't admit they're wrong with people like Atwell, if they brought in a relegation system I doubt they'ld relegate the worst refs anyway.

PS if anyone at the FA is watching Atwell was doing a great job in the premiership, he's only young it would be really cruely to demote him to the lower leagues...

Every time one gets relegated, one needs to be promoted to replace him.

If the leagues below get the dross and vote accordingly, a ref may never be promoted once relegated. It could also be that eventually the FA might end up with no refs to replace the relegated ones.

No doubt the Prem will want refs of a sufficient standard and if the better ones in the leagues below don't meet the Prem standard, what happens?

If someone is not good enough to be a referee, then they're not good enough. Why should it be only our league tables that are skewed by inconsistent decisions?

I have a lot of sympathy with Pulis though. His team have got the reputation now of being cloggers and are getting nothing from officials. Pulis is clearly at his wits end and doesn't know whatever next. Stoke are proof that although in theory bad decisions should even out, in truth a horribly imbalanced set of decisive decisions are within the laws of probability.

But we don't want Attwell either, thank you very much.

Attwell must be in the Barratt Homes, Southern Area (West) Conference Div III of refs :(

Relegation of referees effectively happens now so as much as I have some sympathy with Pullis over recent decisions he is really talking nonsense.

His motive (understandably) is to get referees in the next few games to be more kind to Stoke, will probably work as well.

Referee Relegation

So every time a Stoke player f**ks up, is Pullis going to drop him? The bloke is a knob, and I for one can't wait to see them get relegated.

..............................absolutely no reason whatsoever for the Football League to have to be the recipients of the Premiershite rubbish........................

Referee Relegation

lets see what pulis has to say for himself next time stoke get a decision go their way

Who decides which referees get relegated; is it retired Wimbledon tennis umpires who choose or John Anderson the referee from Gladiators?

Can the referees appeal using video technology evidence to overturn a decision to relegate them?

is there a Referees Referee Ombudsman?

Personally I blame Darryl Hair for not turning a blind eye to Pakistans cheating in the first place, Bob Woolmer's blood on his hands!!

His idea is that every manager gets to vote (on each game, I guess), and then they draw up a ref "league table" at the end of the season with the bottom 3 getting relegated and the top Championship refs coming up.

I think it's a terrible idea, for all the reasons stated above, but also because it encourages ref's to do things to "get noticed" in the lower leagues, IMO, like Poll did at the start of his career, and Attwell. The ref should try to be invisible, not worried about his league position.
