Reiss Nelson

No option to buy then is it? That is a bit of a shame of so.

Can’t get excited by loan players in the same way as they are clearly no more than a stopgap.

I hope he excels whilst he’s here as I’ve always thought he was a good player, but like with Reguilon he doesn’t really feel like a ‘Brentford player’ to me. What’s that old saying…

Reiss Nelson

Read from journos there was an option to buy.

Reiss Nelson

Surely there’s an option to buy? Sounds like there isn’t from the article and his quote…

Reiss Nelson

Was really hoping for a obligation to buy

Might be a daft question, but can you add an obligation to buy? If a deal hasn’t been negotiated today because of lack of time, so it had to be signed as a loan, could say the terms of an obligation be finalised tomorrow?

It’s not in our interest to add an obligation to buy, so I doubt it will happen.

His contract runs until summer '27, so if there's no option, at the end of the season we'd hopefully be in pole position should he have a good spell and want to move on, and he wouldn't cost too much...

Reiss Nelson

I would be surprised if there wasn’t an option tbh we don’t really seem to do straight loans any more apart from if we are sort in an area like we was with regulion

Reiss Nelson

Just watched his show reel from 2022/23 which made me quite a bit more excited about this signing.

However, are there injury worries with Reiss?

Reiss Nelson

I know the name, but have never knowingly seen him play. Is he backup for Ouattara on the right?

From what I gathered from my Arsenal colleague when we chatted about him yesterday, is that he's well liked among the fans, but have found it difficult to break into the Arsenal team, since his position was just about the only one that hasn't been mired with injuries, and 'suffers' from big-name signings such as Martinelli and Trossard ahead of him.

Possibly/probably not quite good enough/established enough to get into Arsenal first team, but really should be good enough to get into most other PL teams outside of probable Europe-chasers

He guesstimated that a potential fee for him, would be £10-15m, which he feels is low, comparatively speaking, but probably fair since he need more consistent game time and he ain't getting it at them.

Shouldn’t really make any difference, If he does well we sign him, usual caveats on value will apply. He won’t go back to Arsenal, they just spend 100m a year on wingers so he won’t go back there.

Have a really good feeling about this, really typical Brentford player and the attitude is exactly what you would expect from an Arsenal graduate and a Brentford signing.

Like all new signings time will tell, looks promising though. Would expect him to hit the ground running given his previous experience.

Reiss Nelson

Interesting signing.
He isn’t a kid anymore so should hit the ground running.
interview he seems nice enough and will fit in well

Maybe there’s a gentleman’s agreement.
As already said, should the stars align, we will be in pole position in the next or the summer window. It’s clear we have a good relationship with Arsenal and, hopefully, he will see his future with us, so it will just be a matter of hard-ball negotiations. I sort-of think we’re quite good at those.

He’s got that elusive Premier League ready tick, a friend at the Club and only needs to make that move into the uncharted waters of West London… but he’s got Nørgaard on the case already.

It seems a smart signing, to me, as it gives us a lot of flexibility across the front line. With Thiago CF, there’s a lot of options either side, each with different qualities, to rotate and freshen with substitutions, with the additional possibility for Shade or Ouattara to move central as well.
