Release clauses?

Given all the talk regarding the relative values of Alan Judge and James Tarkowski in the transfer windows is this something we should look at more?

I know with Moses we were maybe forced to sell for less than we would of liked but they are common place in Europe (Betinho €60m!!!)

I just wondered if it would stop all the speculative punts from other clubs?

Say we get a player from Walsall (relatively likely) and build in a buyout based on potential? Don't know if its the answer but it might stop the dicking about. ..
Jotas buyout is 12 million so we're not obliged to talk to others until then...

Probably a pub idea but just a thought

I suspect the agents wouldn't let talks progress very far at the time of signing without a release clause that suits them being inserted.

We could probably put in relatively high buy out clauses for players who were very keen to join us but I don't know they'd be much use really.

When Moses went, his buy out looked too cheap to us fans, but how many players had we sold for £3.5m before we bought him?

Were we to somehow go up this season and Jota was tearing up the PL in the first 4 months of the season, I suspect we'd not be overly happy if someone offered £12m for him next January.

Absolutely...I can't say I disagree, I just wondered if there was a way around this speculative rubbish twice a year?

There is a way around but it involves staying off the GPG, Twitter and away from TV until the first week of February....

Release clauses aren't good for the club they're good for the player. End of.

In Spain and Portugal all players contracts must have one, that's why you get silly vlaues.

Indeed they do. I do sometimes wonder if it was a mistake not to take up Betinho's 54m euro clause.

Something needs to happen mate, Parachute paymenrs need to stop, and bigger clubs need to be stopped from raping clubs like ours. It;s a ****ing joke and we are not on a level playing field as we try and compete in the Championship.

Parachute payments will stop the season we get relegated from the Prem... #itsstillbrentfordinnit...
