Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Perhaps they would be better off concentrating on where the next three points are going to come from!

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Wonder how they'll react to calls about stewards bullying home fans

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Can't say I agree with all this hate crime stuff... What's wrong with the clubs existing number if anyone has any serious issues?

Does that include calling the ref a "banker" or something like that ?

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Who makes the rules? Who defines hate? Can you shout at the lino the ref the 4th or the oppo players manager/Bench. Is swearing hate?
Do they just take the victims word for it.

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

The sanitisation continues and the atmosphere will worsen, that’s not condoning sh*tty/unnecessary behaviour just a reflection on what a stale and soulless place GP has become.

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Seems a sensible enough idea. Don't understand the concerns

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Men insult each other and don't really mean it! Girls compliment each other and don't really mean it!

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

The thread title is wrong. A hate crime is stated as " crime motivated by racial, sexual, or other prejudice, typically one involving violence." and I would hope that anyone in their right mind wouldn't condone that at all. Would they?

This states "hateful behavior". I don't know what that is - another thing for the "PC gone mad" people to froth over maybe? I predict zero calls. I also predict that anyone getting anxious that the world has actually gone mad will be completely unaffected by this.

I'm interested in why such an infrequent visitor to this site has chosen to highlight this. I don't think I'll get an honest answer there. lol

Think the term "hate crime" itself is a kind of unhelpful generalization/catch-all term that leads people to react negatively as if they'd not be able to call the ref a ****er anymore etc.
Rather than its intention which is to help people report racist abuse (amongst other things).

(EDIT: and as Les points out "hateful behaviour" probably just helps compound the confusion)

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

TITS will love it.

Post of the month.

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Previously we have advertised using the Kick It Out app however it was unreliable and the safety team weren't getting the notifications until after the game.

This just makes it a bit easier for those to report something if they feel the need to.

As Stephen Fry Has Said....

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so f**king what."

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

I don't see why it's such an issue that BFC are setting up a phone line to help tackle a problem that is very real in all areas and communities in our society.... including football.

Exactly. If you’re against this then it appears you probably have a vested interest in keeping this sort of behaviour or actions going. None of the people moaning about it would ever ring in the first place.

Political Correctness, free speech and democracy coming to an end in this country. Well done Brentford for giving the PC brigade and the snowflakes encouragement to phone up if you even look at them. When I was at school we were told sticks and stones may break your bones but names will never hurt you.

Not sure I agree with the tone of your post and my post doesn’t align with yours. I just fear supporting Brentford is becoming too passive and that there are more productive and positive ways for the club to be inclusive etc, this ‘solution’ feels negative and criminalises football fans when largely at GP the service will be redundant.

This hotline I assume has been established to allow people to report instances of outright racism or abuse on the basis of sexual or religious orientation. You have chosen, very conveniently, to assume that it is just an attempt to sanitise our footballing experience.

It seems pretty clear to me, despite some slightly clumsy terms, that it is absolutely not an attempt to sanitise anything, but simply a facility to enable any instances of racism or sexual or religious bigotry to be reported. I have no doubt that despite the protestations on this thread about the need for such a hotline, every poster who has contributed would be equally appalled in the thankfully unlikely event that they witnessed such behaviour at GP.

So really, what’s the issue ?

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Let's give this some context. There are a lot of events going on to be inclusive including the LGBT population. This is what it says on the tin: to report "behaviour seen at Griffin Park that is contrary to the Club’s values of diversity and inclusion".

Not sure what's wrong with that. I hope that it doesn't need to be used, but if it does then it's there. I hope it reassures those that perceive themselves to more likely to be on the receiving end of such behaviour. It is not PC, impacting free speech or democracy coming to an end.

Well done BFC. :sorted:

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Good move by BFC.. should hopefully be a deterrent and make people think a little before engaging in a hate crime/ speech...

Genuinely interested in how this impacts you? I'm going to guess that you're not in any danger of being reported, you like me don't hear this at GP so how does it affect you.

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

If we were at GP and we witnessed an Asian family being racially abused, maybe because they're wearing a half and half scarf, would we all not want a way to report it? Or is that grassing and we should ignore it?

If anyone believes that's political correctness gone made then i think they've gone mad

Half and half scarves are an abomination. They are offensive and have no place in civilised society.

BFCs record in treating home fans.

Some of the over sensitive fans we have

And it's not needed at Brentford.

Reporting hateful behaviour isn’t needed? The whole ground is covered in CCTV so you have nothing to worry about.

I’m sure you won’t use the service so not sure why you have a problem with it.

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

I wouldn’t worry too much.
I used the one at Wembley three times in 45 minutes to report a group of absolute James Hunts, who were ruining my sons birthday treat with some of the most appalling racist behaviour I have ever seen and heard.
Nobody responded and they carried on all game. And before any keyboard Chuck Norris’ ask why I didn’t sort it out myself, I’m reasonably handy but have no desire for my son to watch me get ironed out by 10 drunken louts.

These things are window dressing to please kick it out and other lefties.

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

BTW "Killer Bee" posted this removed post earlier: "Sorry but we don’t want Asians with their half and half scarves."

They also post from the same IP address as former user "Thorne in the Side" and has an email address containing the name "Hester"

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Well hopefully we'll find out then won't we.
but what will we exactly find out ???
Pretty much 99% of people who go to brentford wont have a problem with it BUT they dont like being told what to do and having it continually put around that somehow we have a problem at brentford that needs addresing...it doesnt look good on the club and anyone looking in from outside who didnt know better would think there IS a problem at gp ? Its terrible self promotion when we need as many new 'proper' fans as possible in these difficult times....still BFC know best apparently ;)

Reporting Hateful Behaviour

Difficult subject this. Gut instinct is that I’m glad Brentford football club takes these issues seriously.

Do I want racist/sexist/homophobic jokes in the stands at Griffin Park? No.

But do I think the club* should decide what constitutes racism/sexism/homophobia and therefore warrants punishment? Not sure I do.

*More accurately, a person at the club.

We'll find out if *if there is a problem* if BFC will take if seriously. Comparing with Wembley and making up your mind on that isn't really valid is it.

If there's an LGBT supporters that feels threatened by someone, then BFC need to act. What's wrong with that? We live in a different, more enlightened world than 50 years ago.

Surely you back the fact that supporters can come from all walks of live. In fact I am sure that I know that you do. We need to encourage that. This should be seen as pro-active, positive action by the club. And should be welcomed. Instead we have some saying it is all about snowflakes and the end of society/democracy.
