Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand is at the centre of a drugs test scandal - just heard on new at 10.

er....that's it.

Rio Ferdinand

According to the news report he "forgot" to take one when requested following the home match against Arsenal. He took one several days later and passed.

Supposedly the FA view "forgetting" to take one as the equivalent of failing a drugs test.

If a Brentford player "forgot" he would I suppose be suspended for six months but being Man Ure you can guess that the fix will soon be in, Ferguson will start ranting about everyone picking on Man Ure and the only question will be which corner of the carpet will be lifted for the mess to be swept under.

Rio Ferdinand

It doesnt take very long for a bit of weed to get out of your syustem and Ferdinand has got from in that department.

However the way all the england team usually play (bar Owen, Beckham and Gerrard) it seems that at very least they have had a massive smoke before the match and some of them play (Gary Neville for example) like they have just consumed some high grade opium.

two weeks! pretty long

Rio Ferdinand

F.A.: So Mr.Ferdinand why did you miss your drugs test.?

Rio: Well, man, i was so stoned out me head on the Ganga, that i compleatly forgot about it, these things tend to happen to me especislly when i'm playing. :D

Rio Ferdinand

Well the radio reports this morning say that he "forgot" to take the test. But the Independent says he "refused" to take the test. I can't be the only one who thinks these are not compatible. In any case, how can a player be allowed to "forget" to take a test? They should be supervised from the moment they are told they must take the test until the time that they have done so.

I dont know if they give blood or give urine but surley it must be done in the presence of an official

GETTING WORSE FOR RIO

He's been left out of the England squad  rofl

(I dont know how he gets up and down the pitch with that huge top lip weighing him down)

Rio Ferdinand

Cocaine is, Im told, 48 hours in your system........ didn't he pass a test 2 days later?

Rio Ferdinand

This is a very funny situation.

He claims he forgot because he was moving house.

I guess he was informed to take one on a particular day and never did so. He tried to do it later in the day but couldn't and only took one 2 days later.

I'm really not sure what to make of this.

Rio Ferdinand

Not giving a sample is (I think) under IOC rules a two year ban. It's the same as a positive test. On Talksport this morning Gordon Taylor said RIO gave a negative sample 3 days later. Taylor was complaining about Ferdinand being left out of the England Squad before the FA's due process had been completed.

Appararntly there is a chance he will get a 2 year ban.

Not if Ferguson has anything to do with it I bet.

We need someone familiar with drug testing procedures to explain what happens.

But don't tests usually take place at stadiums or at the training ground? So how can Rio's test slip through the net? Did the testers "forget" to take his? Did he leave before they got a chance?

It looks to me as if he refused the initial test...

Even if an Arsenal player smoked a spliff..

...this big

Aresene Wenger wouldn't see it. :D

But he still gets called a Sex God in some tabloids.......cracks me up that ( ) no pun intended on the crack bit Rio

Rio Ferdinand

At least it stops rednose having to pretend ferdinand is injured like he does with his other players when an international match comes around.

Rio Ferdinand

Several questions arise out of this.

Firstly, why has all this come out before a hearing could take place, in accordance with the rules? If he is exhonerated, his name is still blackened. Gordon Taylor has a point.

Second, if Sven thinks that all this is going to mean Rio isn't in the right frame of mind for the match, surely he could have arranged for Fergie to claim Rio was injured and we could have been distracted by a club/country row.

Three, who leaked the story?

Rio Ferdinand

Rio isn't in the England squad so it surely must be serious, but as has been said he should be innocent until proven guilty

The sample
Having washed their hands, the athlete takes the pot and produces the sample. Their midriff and genitals must be clearly visible so the testing officer can see the urine going directly from body to pot.  :blush

Rio Ferdinand

Sorry to any Rio fans but this is great news. He's a donkey.

Him and David James (have we not got a better keeper than him and Walker?).

WHAT! Rio was absent minded he was moving home the day he was meant to give a sample, he simply forgot. 2 days later he gave a sample, The sample was clear but due to bureaucracy he has had to suffer which is a joke.

Have you ever been blamed for something that you never did?

Rio is no donkey & James is not the worlds best goalkeeper but I personally think they are the best in there position in England at this time.

I'm not sticking up for the bureaucracy here, but this bloke has been one of the most over rated and over priced players that I can ever remember (apart from Carlton Palmer - without the price bit).

And I refuse to believe we do not have a better keeper available. If not, it doesn't say a lot for football in this country, does it?

:mad1:

Rio Ferdinand

If between Rio and Manchester United they couldn't make arrangements to attend a scheduled drugs test then they deserve the ban that should be forthcomming. The rules are very simple, a refusal to give a sample is the same as a positive test. Say they had let Rio play Saturday, England got the result they needed, then the news got out, what do you think the Turkish FA would be saying?

Gordon Taylor was asked this today on Talksport his answer? "I don't know i'm not a mind-reader"!

Rio Ferdinand

I wonder if the Turkish FA would have banned one of their players if this had happened to one of them??

Rio Ferdinand

It's a complete cock-up. Ferdinand, Man Utd and the FA all at fault. And apart from Ferdinand being smeared before his case is heard, England suffers un-needed disruption and the loss of a certain starter on Saturday.

:mad1: :mad2:

Rio Ferdinand

This shows once again that football in this country is more or less a shambles from the youth levels up to the top. A bloke on about 50k a week doesn't attend a drug test. These overated overpaid ponces are taking the p&^S out of the fans. The FA ban him before his case is heard, where is that written in the FIFA rules. A Leeds player is arrested for a serious sexaul assault. The Arsenal V's Man Utd fiasco. Rumours afoot in the papers that players are queing up to shag groupies whilst getting tanked up and lastly the hottest prospect in our game is behaving like he just step off a soul crew coach to an away game. The players have become bigger than any team or country and the FA haven't got a clue how to handle it.

This is shaming the game and before anyone tries to defend any of the actions above because I have seen some try. I coach at the youth level and kids are getting pull up for swearing, arguing with ref and having a go at oppositon players. I have even seen a case of racist abuse that has gone unpunished by the county FA because the teams official was on the comittee. This is affecting the attitude and behaviour of young players and whilst it is allowed to happen we will never see an England captain lift a major trophy. Maybe some think this an over reaction but you don't see too many stories similar to the above by French(except Viera), German, Spainish, Brazian or Italian players.

Rio Ferdinand

You have a point about the FA, I don't often agree with Gordon Taylor but he was pretty much spot on about how the FA in this case have flouted their own rules and those of natural justice by what seems to be just blind panic.

It has been said many times but its about time things changed at the top.

All this started when the FA caved in to the "big 5" and allowed greed and self interest to take over by forming the PL at the expense of the rest of football. We have seen so clearly this week what this has led to, vastly overpaid prima donnas who think they can flout any rule, any sense of normal decency and standards and get away with it.

As for Ferdinand they should make an example of him but as he's a Manu player I somehow doubt they will.

Sums up the situation.

Too risky to play somebody in these circumstances, especially a player who arguably doesn't add a lot to the team compared to his potential replacements.

Nobody is saying he is guilty, but unlike all the rape suspects etc, he has actually already technically committed a provable "offence" by not supplying the sample.

To be honest it is fairly laughable to suggest that a club like Man U just leave it up to their individual players to keep appointments like this. Does anyone really believe that?

Rio Ferdinand

I am am not sure of the FIFA rules but under the World Anti-Doping Agency doping rules a players has to be suspended until the official hearing as if found guilty he or she would have been competing as a drug cheat.

As has been stated before, failure to take a test is tantermonut to being guilty of taking drugs. Man U know the rules they have no case to answer.

Man Ure have threatened to withdraw scholes, butt and the neville sisters from the england squad.

Scholes is good for a place on the bench but the squad would be have a more solid look without those other 3 liabilities in it.

Rio Ferdinand

Todays papers say all the players will strike as they want Ferdy called up.
Could this be the trigger that frees Sven from the England job that he has been looking for?

I say ban him for 2 years. There are better defenders than him anyway such as Terry, Woodgate and Southgate and Upson.

Die hard England Fan

As a Die hard England Fan who goes to many England games home and away.

If I was Michael Owen or an england player with respect I would ask not just all England players to strike I would ask every football player and club to strike.

I would not mind missing a few games for the good cause of Rio Playing for us on saturday.

The F A are bang out of order and have treated the fans with no respect over the last 5 years. Paying £50 for membership does not gaurentee a match ticket even at home.

This smells of a Turkish Bung in the Fa somewhere get rid of your best player and we will give you free shish kebabs for life.

I have not read any of the above posts. I am just stating how I personally feel about our Lousy FA.
I will read them now though. :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

not strictly true..diego maradona? coke addict at 19 years old and more illigitimet (sp) kids than Dr bernados and he single handedly lifted the world cup in 86.

The brazilians.. arguably the gretest ever football nation, there players are rarely seen outside a nightclub or when they are not inside a night club they are hanging out the back of some groupie!

I agree with the first point you make re the kids..but we are no worse then many different nations when it comes to the behaviour of players!

I understand this to be the case, and also the reason why the FA have brought this to light. However surely the FA should follow the prescident they set.

A few months ago a Man City player did the same thing, forgot to take a test. He took it at a later date, as soon as he could. His name was never mentioned, he passed the test and his explanation was accepted, and I don't think it was as important as moving house.

Why is this case different?

Oh come on..have you never done this.. got up and thought "I must remember to lock the garage before I leave this morning" (or dentist appointment or whatever you like), you remind yourself over and over in the shower, you have a cup of tea and remind yourself over and over, you then get in your car and drive to work and then think, how the bloody hell did I forget to do that?

Rio turned around and went straight back..they had gone so he took the test the next day and passed it.

Rightly or wrongly it is a cock up..his hearing is next week, why is he out of the squad now?

There are players up on rape charges who have full anonyminity and still playing..how many of them will be representing their countries this weekend..the FA are an absolute shambles and a disgrace!

Sol should have served his ban and been back playing 4 weeks ago but he is up on a nonsence charge (compared to what ashley cole did to lomberg in the same game) 2 days before our biggest game in 2 years!

The FA have banned our supporters from going when they have no right to infringe on the freedom of movement of an individual..who do they think they are. If they actually had any brains and balls they would have refused to go to the game as the turkish scum can't guarantee the safety of players and supporters like we offered them! Unfortunately that would mean they are missing out on their subsidiased jolly to turkey..a few beers, a nice expensive hotel and a few turkish massages chucked in on expenses!

****ers..do they want us to lose?..the turks must be laughing their socks off..we are scared to take our supporters..they know they can do what they want, we are banning our own fukking players now!! ar5eholes!

Scholes out of form for a year or so with england, the nevilles are a libilty..give johnson a go..as for butt, he has actually done pretty well last few games and world cup but frank lampard is in top form!

I actually thought the same thing last night.

Would it be better for the FA if we lost this game and drew Spain or Holland in a play-off.

We could refuse away tickets again, there is a chance we would lose and therefore not go to Portugal, which means they don't have to worry about our troublemakers.

It seems to me that this scenario is better for the FA.
