Was lucky enough to do the 'Hospitality' bit yesterday due to a mate winning 2 tickets in the Lifeline raffle. (Cheers Dave!!! ) Robert Taylor and Andy McCulloch were both in attendance. :bound:

Took the chance to have a chat with Robert who was, as expected, a really nice bloke. He was happy to talk about his time at GP which he looked back on with affection, and he gave us the low down on the 'Gillingford' transfers......he was on £500 a week and they offered to treble his wages.....no contest....He also talked about Nicky Forster refusing to take a penalty in the play off shoot-out v Huddersfield, explaining that Forster was a fantastic, intuitive finisher, but if he had time to think about a chance he was a nervous wreck!!! Loved talking to him about his time at GP and the fantastic lob he scored in the 6-0 win over Cambridge!! Despite promising myself I wouldn't, I just couldn't stop myself from bringing up 'that miss' at Huddersfield!!!! He took it in good spirits though, comparing it to Joao's miss!!!

Great player and bloke was/is Robert......even before yesterday he was in my Bees 'top ten'

That lob against Cambridge one of my earliest memories and remains one of the best goals I've seen scored at GP.

He was absolutely paceless but such a skilful player with a tremendous finish on him. One of my favourites to have pulled on the red and white shirt.

Definitely in my top 10, I still remember the lobbed goal very well. He had no problems scoring when he had time to think.

Seeing that Bob was on BeesWorld commentary yesterday made me think back...what a player! Probably my favourite Bee from my early years attending, that partnership with Nicky Forster was something else. His brilliant lob in the second half demolition of Cambridge has been mentioned on this thead, but unless my memory is playing tricks, I'm sure he did the same to Neville Southall, one of the best keepers ever (although a bit slower off the mark by then), vs Southend one Boxing Day.

Noades said the same when he came in the summer he left. He didn’t have an agent which was pretty criminal and why he was stuck with that amount. Noades made him a much better offer but he still went to Gillingham. He wrote the club a letter in 2003 asking for a trial, but he was pretty much done by then.

Class act. The FT index were so much more than a big man/little man duo. It's a shame his last games for us were poor by his standards but I suppose he knew he was leaving and couldn't risk an injury. We were pretty much down anyway but he got sent off with a stupid foul and a deliberate handball at GP which meant he missed the Fulham home game. One of our best signings prior to the modern era.

Weird that that era of players don't really get more recognition, isn't it? I guess it's because they came between the 91/92 lot and then all the tumult of the Webb/Noades era.

94/95 was my favourite season on a personal level. I was mascot for the 7-0 win at home to Plymouth which obviously helps, but that run of form we had from that game to when we started to fold in April still ranks as one of my favourite periods of supporting Brentford.

Taylor's lob in the 6-0 win against Cambridge that season is also one of the best goals I've seen live.

More a lob really, he controlled it and side footed/curled it into the top corner. I got an assist that day as I threw the ball back before the throw that led to the goal, eventually

I think his best goal was a volley against someone like Stockport. We were 1.0 down in the 91st min when he curled a free kick in, a few minutes later a long ball and he took it over his shoulder and volleyed it in first time just inside the post.
