According to the Ealing Gazette Alex Rhodes is at Kings Lynn on loan. (not sure if this has been mentioned before - or appeared on the official site :D)
I hope Allen dosen't make a quick decision on him as we had to fight off a few clubs to sign him.

I believe this is the first time this has been mentioned. Nothing in The Chronny and I don't see the Ealing Gazette but maybe it does have its uses if it's true!!!!!

Nothing either in the squad list on the official site to suggest that he is out on loan.

And nothing on the Kings Lynn site. He certainly didn't play yesterday if he is indeed there.......

I don't think we did somehow, lots of clubs took a look at him and we were the only ones to make an offer. Gary Johnson at Yeovil took a very long look and decided against taking him on.

I'm afraid it's a different game, youth team football and first team football. We may win a championship at youth team level, but you dont get many lads making the next level. It's sad but fact, the lads that have left us go with our best wishes.
Yeah agreed, but its a bit annoying that young lads successful in what they do at youth level aren't given the opportunity to develop further. When others in and around the first team squad weren't even successful at youth level let alone first team ! I just fear the gap between the 1st team and our youngsters will grow further and surely this can't be good for our future, can it ?

I wonder when the club will see fit to tell us about Rhodes?
Who knows ? But i heard he's been told the same as Fieldwick, Blackman,Hughes etc. That he doesn't figure in MA's plans for the rest of the season, so if he aint part of the plans this season i cant see him playing a part next season .

i have great respect for martin allen and i feel hes done and will continue to do a great job in turning us around.but this is really staring to piss me off now.we payed money for rhodes and at his old club he scored something like 30 goals in 40 games FROM MIDFIELD.to get rid of him after just a few weeks is ridiculous as is releasing players like fieldwick who looked great for a couple of games then deteriated-but surely this can be blamed on wallys coaching?

i know thism is something like my fourth post on this topic but i feel really strongly about this-our club has always had good players coming up through the youth system-tabb and dobbo for instance and we cant just abandon the system now-for a promising player living in the area one of the main reasons for them coming to us is the fact that theyre more likely to get a chance in the first team as opposed to places like chelsea.

if these players really arent good enough then they shouldnt be on our wage bill but i feel they have not been given a chance under allen and for all
his faults wally did give jay tabb a chance in the team and i worry we will be seeing less of this in the future.

Rhodes hasn't left, and may not do so.

I wasn't sure about the logic of buying a left winger when we did, but I do agree that if we paid for him Allen should at least give him a fair crack of the whip.

I think it's fair to say a lot of players have been let go without Allen getting a look at them, but who's to say he's not right.

In the recent past out better teams have not contained many players who have come through our youth system.

Gayle, Millen, and arguably Bates in 92

Was there anyone in 99?

Dobson in 02

I would say that if we are to progress and get a better team the majority of them won't come from within, but the best ones will still come through, like they always have.

Brighton Bee. i wont be the only one to tell you, but Alex Rhodes played for Bees Reserves versus Wycombe reserves tonight Tuesday April 6th, and played very well according to accounts, so
he hasn't gone anywhere........ yet.

But the reserves have now finished there league season, so he might go out to give him some games for the rest of the season, i dont think Martin Allen will risk his inexperience this season in a relagation fight.

This week awarded with the Golden Boot for the Ryman Division 1 South. Scored 32 in the league. Well Done Bobby seen some great performances for K's this season and last.

Scored the third killer goal for K's v Sutton last night. An off the floor scissors kick into the top corner! :sorted:

Surprissed he's still playing at this level. I would have thought someone higher up the league pyramid would have given him a punt! :fishing:

Love to know how good he is. Playing below his true level in ryman league. Hope he can cut it in Blue Sq South if they go up.

cant believe we let another one slip through the net :fishing:

I have seen him about 15 times over the past 3 seasons. At Ryman Prem and Div 1 he is a lethal finisher, very strong and an absolute match winner. He doesnt look the fittest fella and his work rate isnt always great. Against Sutton in the league over Easter he got his first chance of the game in the 94th minute and took it giving K's the victory, up until that point he had done vitually nothing. It was a fantastic goal which required a really cool head. He is a crowd favourite like any goalscorer. If he was to play at a higher level he would need an energetic player alongside him or good service for him to succeed.

We did'nt.I've seen him play 3 times this season and although a good player no more than Blue Square Premier standard.
