Hardly the same colossal fees, but back in 1991/92 those were considered colossal fees.

I guess Arsenal spending £10,890 on David Jack and then winning the league three times in a row was not a colossal fee to pay? Although at the time it was a record transfer fee.

It is a bit of a futile statement to say the fees paid back in 1991/92 were not as colossal as the fees paid now.

you don't know what your talking about, in 1992 Alan Shearer went to Blackburn for £3,300,000 and that broke the British transfer record..

Well said that man. I hate it when people go on about the likes of Chelsea and Man City buying titles, as if Man United have barely spent a penny over the years. Without looking it up, I wouldn't mind betting Man United have broken the British transfer record more than any other team since the won their first PL title. And as bees66 points out, the relative-to-now small sums they were spending in the early 1990s to win that first PL title was hardly relatively small change back then.
