All this talk about is BMW our best ever forward partnership made me think what was our worst?

Is any time Murray Jones or Mark McCammon too obvious an answer?

...........Shipperley and scruffbag Claridge................

Clyde Wijnhard and Fola Onibuje. Would you like me to shut this thread?

Robin Reliant

I believe so.

Prove it. If they did then they are the pairing. Fola's Wiki page, if it's to be believed, shows him scoring 14 goals in the past decade or more, having played for about 14 clubs. Can't be right, surely?

And no, I didn't call you Shirley.

Brentford 0 Crewe 4 - Onibuje replaced Chris Moore to partner Cylde Wijnhard up front. Leroy Rosenior was sacked following that game I believe.

The title of this thread caught my eye.

I was the owner of a Reliant Robin (Van), from 1976 to 1980. My 'friends' used to call it the hair dryer but I loved that car. I take exception that the Reliant Robin is being linked to poor performance. I drove it on a motor bike licence, minimal road tax, low fuel consumption and loved every minute of it.

I admit it was a little sluggish, poor acceleration and at times seemed to struggle in difficult weather. Quite similar to Stan Webb, who I don't even think had a partner up front and was left to take over from John O'Mara.

So Stan does get my Reliant Robin vote.

A mate at school had an orange Robin (so it’s 1974), and we went everywhere in this thing. We did the normal tilting game to put it in tight parking spaces.
He had a slight accident and the fibreglass drivers door came off. He couldn’t afford the repair, or to tell his parents for about a week or so. Anyway he quite happily drove around with his door in the passenger seat. No police stopped him, noone spoke to him whilst stopped, or anything! He’d park near a lamppost, and with a great length of 2in chain, attach it to the steering column for security! (As if anyone’s going to steal a Robin with its door missing...)

I don’t recall many partnerships, just outstanding(?) individuals:- Dean P. (or A?) Smith...
Joe Omigie - or Joe ‘Oh my God’ as Pipe would call him. Saw him score a goal....just the 1 mind ( at Peterborough?)
Callum Willock - the only player I’ve seen miss his kick and fall over, to win a penalty with noone touching him...

Dean Martin and Dean P (or was it A) Smith

They put the non in anonymous

Wasn't that Williams as in there's only two Dean Williams?

The mention of Fola Onibuje earlier, my god what a player he was (about 6"6 if I remember correctly too)

Managed to score (as a centre forward) 15 goals in 11 years across 20 different clubs. Just over a goal a season! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fola_Onibuje

Chris Moore and Calum Willock possibly...

Calum Willock.
When we signed him from Peterborough, Adrian Durham wet himself laughing and said he could not believe that they got a fee for him.
I then see him and I understood exactly what he meant.

Tackled himself and got a pen. The height of his career with us. Well worth his place in the Reliant!

Gary Johnson and Keith Bowen., We had Hurlock, Kamara, Roberts and Bowles in midfield and these two up front.. :(

Wasn't sure if you were saying that those 2 aren't allowed because they are too obvious? But, if that's not the case, then it has to be Murray Jones, for me.

Four of us travelled to Colchester in 73 in a Reliant Robin for an Easter Monday fixture. We were pretty much relegated by then but big turnout of Bees and pretty hostile atmosphere. I think Dave Simmons was up front for us that day, possibly Richard Poole as well?

Different "vintage" car......around 1980, me and my mate travelled to Plymouth in his Triumph Herald. It was a hot day, the car kept overheating and we kept on having stop to let it cool down. We arrived just after half time, we had missed a Len Bond penalty save but saw the winner from Jackie Graham

This is what I loved about the 70's....the door in the passenger seat.

Were there any games when McCammon and Constantine partnered one another?

Good Friday 1974 and Dave Simmons scored in a 2-1 defeat.
Easter Monday 1973 Wrexham away and we were relegated after a 4-1 drubbing.

Remembered like it was yesterday.

Cheers. I am often a year out either way when recollecting games. 74 it was. Lively day behind the goal, mad stuff going on.

Although weren't we told LR resigned?

I had a ‘holiday’ for 4 or 5 seasons in the 70s. (I got married etc.) When I came back, we were still mid-table and it was as if nothing had happened....
You were married 4 or 5 times in the 70's?

worst ever midfield pairing was Jay Smith and Eddie Hutchison under Wally Downes..

I admit I’m struggling to think of a weaker pairing but we have had some very ordinary players over the years.
I remember being so angry and annoyed with big name players like Paul Davis and Alan Dickens who didn’t try and feeling conned that Ricky Newman who was bought as a combative captain was broken and never began to do what we employed him to do.

Kenny Samson. Him Davis Dickens and co sooo disappointing. Worse than Hutchinson Smith Somner and co who although lacking the skill at least tried their best. We used to love a Trier. Now they need both!
