RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

It's an interesting read - and it looks like it's also an attempt to try and cool the temperature of the debate.

I don't think I understood the last paragraph though.

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

Well done Mr Noades this article was much needed by us fans. opening up dialogue like that will do so much for fan/board relationships.

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

Interesting read right enough but still downright depressing.

Basically it seems to me that if we don't get promotion this year we are totally f****d. I hope he is therefore prepared to take a bit of a gamble with some loan players to make sure we give it our best shot.(and not sell any more key playes before deadline day)

It is clear that Ron is still hell bent on leaving Griffin Park as soon as physically possible but I would be most grateful if somebody could answer this question for me (and also back it up with some figures).

He states that at GP our income is 300k more than our outgoings before the wage bill is taken into account. After taking the wage bill of £1.2m into account, we lose 900k. Understood.

OK then, how does selling Griffin Park and moving in with somebody else help us to break even. Remember that we are almost certainly talking here about a landlord with a smaller capacity than us and no Corporate Hospitality abilities either.

Remember that if we go somewhere like Woking the income side of the equation (ie gates) will drop severely.

It will be a bloody hard job to break even and will need a mighty effort from everybody including the fans but the harsh reality here which Ron is blinkered to is that we are just as likely (or more likely) to break even at Griffin Park than we are in Woking or Kingston. I suspect we could do better at Loftus Rd but they clearly do not want us there and anyway it is not available.

I should point out that I am not one of the "ostriches" that wants to see us stay at GP for ever, I really understand that we need a new modern stadium with enabling facilities which will help us make money. I just dont get the reasoning for ditching our main asset until this dream is approaching reality.

God I'm depressed.

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

If the white-haired clown reads the Chron article properly -which he clearly rarely does, seeing only what he wants to see - he will note that John McGlashan (remember him, Noades? - one of those people he talks over at the bored of director meetings) phoned to tell Jim Levack that he was right.
Thus two people got it right and he didn't.
Be man enough to apologise, o thick one.
At the end of this latest diatribe, he says he will go.
Off you go then, you won't be missed.

Isleworthbee-Noades seems to think its still possible ..."loftus road may now be an option"

Also as Noades makes it clear that Griffin Park rather than bad management is the reason for the growing debts it would be very worthwhile for him to follow up the points you made in the back of a fag packet thread, which was extremely interesting. Anyone with Rons ear fancy asking him to put some meat on the bones of the financial benefits of leaving Griffin Park the way isleworth bee did?

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

Nice one Ron for being so open.
Maybe it is time a few people on this board cut the guy a little slack?????

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

Thanks Ron nice to know you read GPG your letter makes a very interesting read now is the time for all to get together and make sure our club has a future

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

I will be posting a full response tomorrow (for what it is worth), but I think Ron can sleep well tonight, for I will say now that I find most of the statement to be very positive.

More communication of this nature, would go a long way to alleviating all our fears about the future of the club that we all love.

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

Can somebody please explain how a new stadium is to be funded without first selling and vacating Griffin Park?
It just does not seem feasible to expect a new stadium to be completed before we leave, especially considering the projected losses next year.

Go away!

We don't want to hear truths like that.

Just to clarify, all we want is to know where our new stadium will be, with an agreement.

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

I havent posted for a while cos it was just breaking my poor wee heart seeing the club pulling itself apart. Maybe an over reaction but being many miles away this is how it could be perceived.

Firstly good luck to the ABeeC campaign, its time some of the councillors were engaged in a bit of healthy debate about things that really matter, ie the heart of the community.

Secondly, to all Brentford residents can you let any future locality know how gentlemanly and vibrant having a team in your area can be, so that should stop the NIMBYs int heir tracks.

Thirdly, by selling GP meantime for alot of dosh, the interest that can be earnf until the financing of a completed stadium needs to be paid for, could finance a few more seasons at what ever venue we decide to ply our trade, hence wipping out the need for coporate generation of revenue.

I might be wrong about all these points, but I just wanted to have my say.

LONG LIVE BRENTFORD FOOTBALL CLUB

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

That's the best thing Ron's ever written.

I secretly think that 10 years down the line we may look back with fond memories of Ron - the man is potentially laying the infrastructure this club needs to succeed. Without him, we might go up, but we'd soon go down, and be royally f*cked.
These are foundations for our future.

Whilst it is important to remain slightly suspicious, we should cut Ron a little slack, at least when he's willing to behave and write as he has today.

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

I also have to say I am very surprised that Taylor was only on £400 a week when he was here...

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

The frequency of RN's responses is good - its almost as it was 3 years ok with the first incarnation (that I can remember) of the official website, where we had to log in to read his responses to questions on such friendly topics as new signings and our promotion!

Today's article seems fair enough - he repeatedly blames our losses on Griffin Park; I'm by no means Mr Informed on the topic, but would another stadium really bring in £900,000 a year in non-matchday profits? I thought only a stadium like Reading's could do that!

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

I'm with Paz and others - we need to cut Ron a bit of slack. I am impressed by his frankness and (to my mind) obvious good sense.

Most of all, whatever happens, we will need the help of someone with his football experience next year. We also need someone of his experience to mastermind our move.

Experience is vital and, in Ron, we have someone with decades of it. His Loftus Road move was a masterstroke and I was interested to read (between the lines) that it may still work.

Ron could have quite easily pulled the plug on our promotion bid by going out and actively marketing our best players.

He hasn't - stay, Ron, and help the Bees get to Division One - and stay there.

After all, if Charlton can do it - and more -why not the Bees?

PS - let's not forget, Ron has overseen rapid romotion from Division Three, a LDV Vans Final appearance and what has so far been a fabulous season. I hope he's at least quietly enjoyed it.

Conferencing is big business in this part of West London, and in particular out towards Heathrow.
Hotels are also big business. A site like Brentford's football ground would especially appeal to the likes of the Americans and Japanese who are always keen on novelty, and to taste real English culture.
Furthermore, Hounslow and the outer reaches of West London are notably lacking in adequate leisure facilities.
I think we could easily make a million a year out of them. Also, let's bear in mind that a high-profile new stadium brings in new fans, new sponsorship, and an extra set of regulars (due to their proximity to the ground).

In fact, why don't we just go the whole way and get National Lottery money to build an Olympic sized swimming pool etc.?

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

Yeah Come on Ron - you know you'd enjoy being the Chairman of a Division 1 Team again!!

Have we all misjudged Noades!! Here he is, telling us all that it's only Griffin Park itself that is the cause of all the problems and that he has been working hard for the good of us all.
Just get rid of Griffin Park, lads, and all will be well. No mention of the cash raising (for whom?) sale of GP and the flats and houses profits later. That, of course, is the last thing on Noades' mind.
Must go now. A pig has just flown past my window. Or to put it another way, believe any of Noades latest rant and you'll believe anything.
To paraphrase his quote in the Telegraph - though he may well deny this as he does most truthful and hard facts - "you wouldn't believe some of the crap we have to take."

Well he has!! He's got some unbelievable stick from certain supporters on this board. Some of it justified, but some not, IMHO.

Personally I think this is very very positive.

In response to the person who asked how we'd make a profit by moving into Woking or Kingstonian, I can only guess that we'd make a loss of around £1 million a year whilst there but would be able to fund this because of the money in the bank from the sale of GP, and in the long run this would be recovered from the income at our new ground. But this is only speculation on my part.

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

Bloody hell Ron, up front and communicative. Honestly, that's all the majority have been asking for. It's a strange old game to play though isn't it? Getting everybody to blame you and then actaully giving them facts to dispel their arguments.

So, gentlemen, if we are at GP for the next season or two, how the hell do we get the crowds (and therefore finances) up, short of relocating to a spot where there is no competition? The £20 season ticket for the kids is a great idea (let's keep that one going). How about a reduced season ticket for students (no, I'm 46 and don't qualify before you ask)? This would enable us to proactively market the club in the numerous local Unis. Div 1 next year should make it easier to tap into local businesses. If we can give them a vision of what we are trying to achieve (not the sticky carpets in the current Directors' box) I am sure one or more of them would buy-in. "Half-season" tickets. "Bring a friend for a fiver" days. The list goes on. There's probably no shortage of ideas and the fact is I'd rather have someone paying a fiver for a seat and a full GP than rows of 'empties'.

Buy an extra ticket for the run-in games, give it to a mate, or just buy it and have somewhere to put your pie, let's get GP full for the run-in, and, as PG so rightly says, create an atmosphere.

I agree. I will be making a visit to GP soon ,possibly for the Chesterfield game which is a 400ish mile round trip for me. (I actually want to see them win this year, rather than the watch the inevitable outcome at away games). I will also be bringing 2 or 3 mates with me..regardless of whether they want to come.

Although I don't quite follow how having a pie on a seat next to you helps in having a full ground!!

thats A GREAT IDEA.drag someone along who wouldn't normally go and even if they only give you half towards the ticket its not costing you much and the club will greatly benefit.if 1000 pepole bought a seat ticket extra then the club would get an extra £15000 a game plus food and beers.the atmosphere would benefit, your mate might enjoy it and pay for his own next time.i am going to ring up and get a seat ticket for wycombe game and drag a mate along from work, come on those who can afford it do the same.

Fair enough. But its take 4 years to get bloody nowhere on this issue, so i'd rather stay at GP til we do have an idea where our new ground will be.

Feltham will NEVER happen, because of the area its in, so if we are going to move lets find somewhere else. Western International is a great site... still (of course we can't get it , but it is perfect )

Bloody hell!!!

If this sort of artical can make the likes of sweepy see something positive in ron noades then maybe he should be more open more often.

RN apolgised for pinamonte and javary!
I thought these two were potentially excellent buys but the fact jpj was phsycho and pinamonte never quite got going was unfotunate!

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

Unfortunately what RN states about our finances could be made against most of the the Nationwid clubs and some premier clubs also.
We must now stop the griping and arguing whos to blame, it gets us nowhere really. We must address the situation with urgency, continue to badger the council until they have no alternative but to assist us in our plight.
Those that can get behind the AbeeC campaign should, any fan who has yet to join Bees United should and whenever possible bring extra bodies to a game.
RN is correct when he states the disappontment in not getting another 2,000 on our regular 5,000 average, especially this season when marketing has improved and our league position has been consistently high and with only one defeat at home.
We must all pull together, get promotion and push onwards and upwards from there.

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

More postings of that tenor, please, RN. Then we can have dialogue and debate rather than argument. As fans, a cynical and questioning outlook on our part is to be valued, I think, but too much of it leads to depression and paralysis.

I think as supporters we need to keep our eyes on the prize - the thriving of Brentford Football Club. We can carry on carping until we are blue in the face about who did what when but I'd rather spend my energies thinking about how we can start raising the funds to stay in business. By all means, let's learn from what's gone on over the past 5 years at BFC and let's not lose our edge - we're going to need all the energy and smarts we can muster for the ABeeC campaign.

Great idea about each bringing along one extra person (or pie if you're Norman No Mates).

RON RESPONDS "PART 3"

A good response, hopefully it will kill of some of the negative speculation that goes around.

Gee Bees comment on debts could not be more accurate if it tried with Leeds announcing a £13m loss for the the first six months today.

Can we now turn all the negative speculation to positive action?

Get behind the boys and support them like they have never been supported before. We are very close to automatic promotion, it is achievable and I know that we can do it.

We don't want play offs, we want to be sunning ourselves on a beach, nursing the mother of all hangovers from the promotion party, while Brighton play Stoke for the final promotion spot.
