Chatting to a Portsmouth season ticket holder tonight and he was saying that there is a very good chance that he will be recalled to Pompey. They have got something of an injury crisis, are looking to bolster up their forward line and have seen that he has scored 4 goals for us and might be keen to take him back :(

---- so portsmouth cant break the agreement.

I seem to remember the same agreement was verbally stated when Paul Merson was with us. Arsenal had an injury crisis and the rest, as they say, is history.....

Arsenal offered Merson to the bees for £150,000 & Brentford thought merson was not worth that amount.

i'm sure Merson was not on a season loan,so they could break it at anytime.

A season-long loan is for the whole season and Pompey can't recall him - so the rest as they say is history - good point!

Frank McClintock himself told me that Paul Merson was very highly regarded at Arsenal and I would be surprised if he was indeed offered to the Bees for £150,000.
According to Frank, Arsenal had received a number of requests to loan out Merson but they had turned them all down as they saw him as a star of the future.
Brentford only got him because McClintock was/is a close buddy of George Graham who was Arsenal's manager at the time of the deal and Frank promised George faithfully that he would look after Merson and pull him off if he was starting to get hammered in the lower division.

He got a bit more than that during his loan spell. Check out his autobiography and his spell at Brentford which he thoroughly enjoyed. It seems that Terry Hurlock took him under his "wing" and introduced him to proper training for a pro footballer.

When he was returned to the Gunners he had to be poured out of a bottle.:D :D :D

They are top and going well, cannot see any point in them taking him back !!!!

Also trying to buy a new forward, ashley ward and others being touted about at the mo. If they rated rowan as a current first team potential player as opposed to a future one they would not have farmed him out!!

Rowan Vine CANNOT return to Pompey until the end of the season. That is because we have him on a season's loan so any further conjecture is a waste of time!
