I thought Redknapp wanted to loan him out agin.
Do you have a link abee?

I'm so ashamed German Bee but I have to confess that I read the Daily Mail and a full list of the Pompey frees is in their sportspages today. Please don't tell any of my left wing Guardian reading antagonists on here and Edmundo must not find out that I read the "Mail". Please I'm begging you........

I don't have much of a problem with anyone wanting to read the daily mail (even though it's a girls paper), however Jeff Powell is the biggest snivelling piece of sh*t I can think of. Clueless & bitter. I bet you he is a failed footballer.

not on your Xmas card list then ? :D

He wasn't listed on the Meridian TV report of players leaving Pompey.

Is that because he is not famous enough.............?

Obvious he would not make it in the Premier League, I am afraid, but a good prospect at lower levels, I think.

Don't worry, I won't tell him.

according to the Daily Mirror this morning -
Burchill, Vine, Robinson, Pitt, Barrett, Hughes, Vincent and BUXTON

Typical. We've been playing out of position and wondered why he didn't score too many ... Swap him and Dobbo around and we might be getting somehere! :D

Rowan Vine

I am sure some first division side will pick him up.

He did score 14 goals in his first seaon, I am sure his agent can tell a good story for him. Doubt he would accept our salary structure...do we want him?..I would take him on a free for 2 years.

Rowan Vine

Why dont we try and get Mark Burhcill instead, I recall he was quite a useful goalscorer not so long ago.

Can't see him playing for £500 a week. He'll probably go to an average First Division side.

In the local paper down here he wasnt listed as one of the players being released, although they did only list players who were out of contract including Jason Crowe, Luke Nightengale and about three others.
It was reported that Redknapp was going to loan him out for another year.

A good signing imho if we could get him on realistic wages. Alas i doubt he would bother. I think we'd see a better player tho if he did sign cos he'd want to put himself in the shop window.

Seems Rowan has shot himself in the foot somewhat, if he'd played his heart out, there might be a quewe for him now!

IMO we don't want Rowan. He did a decent enough job for us, but we should try and get someone better in either on a free or on loan. I know we have no money, but we still don't (yet) have to settle for very average players - especially when so many are available.

We can get loanees - so let's use them and get someone decent in for the same money - remember, most of the bigger clubs will contribute to the player's wages when they send him out on loan.

Peters plus a decent loan signing or plus an experienced old striker could make us potentially rather deadly IMO.

Peters and Vine woud see another disappointing season

Totally agree!

And me, not at all impressed with Vine since Christmas, very very average overall, and if he hadn't got about 10 goals to his name by Chrimbo then he'd be getting the slating that Antoine-Courier / MMM have been recieving...

I would think that any chnace of us seeing him play for Brentford next year have disappeared now.

I wouldn't have thought he'll play for the money we offer and may well end up with a better offer.

I wouldn't mind seeing a fully committed fully focussed Rowan Vine in our team, and I think he would be an asset. However we haven't often seen that player and I'm not sure we'd see him if we signed him full time.

I'd be surprised to be honest if he did get a better offer in the current climate. I can't see a queue of clubs lining up for him after his dismal second half of the season. He could do a lot worse than continue his development with us even at £500 pw.

Would we offer him £500 per week?

I'm not sure I would.
There are more important players IMHO who should be getting the top money. Which means there are lots of clubs who could offer him more. Half the Third Division could offer him more. Why would he come here?

Is £500 per week the absolute maximum that any player can earn at BFC???

I understood that it was the maximum average wage i.e. in its simplest form if one of the junior members of the squad accepted say £300p.w. then that gave the flexibility to offer £700p.w. to a more experienced player.

Does anyone know for a fact that absolutely no one is going to pull down more than £500p.w. regardless of talent and experience???

I know that you know the answers to these questions abee, the same way I do.
My point was the Vine would not, IMHO, be one of those players who are offered over £500 per week and would therefore be likely to attract other, more lucrative offers.
