Roy King - Another Failure?
I have today sent the following email to the club. Yet another failure of RK that could have been simply remedied. In my opinion we now need to make formal complaints to the club every time there is a failing. They will not then be able to trot out the lame old excuses that they have no evidence of lack of capability, ability, etc, etc. We need to ensure those who are incapable of running our club are shown the door ASAP.
Sirs,
On the Official Site Q&A date 5 November 2004 Ashley Packer asked a question regarding the problems with flooding on the New Road concourse due to rainwater not draining away.
Roy King responded that he was aware of the problem and that in the design of the proposed refurbishment works this matter had been dealt with by re-aligning the levels in that area. Additionally, he remarked that this area would become a covered concourse. He went on to say that
“In the short term we have asked our drainage company to look at the possibility of providing a temporary answer to the problem”
Well, last night the New Road concourse was a disgrace. The area to the right of the turnstiles was completely flooded. Supporters had to paddle through water to get to their seats and the refreshment facilities. Clearly no effort had been made to even attempt to clear the standing water from this area. When I arrived at approx 7.10 pm the rain had to all intents and purposes stopped. The standing water could easily have been cleared. There were numerous stewards who could have been tasked with doing this. It is called a broom and you sweep the water away. I have confidence that even the stewards employed at Griffin Park could do this simple task! You do not need to spend money on the drainage to deal with this problem. I am sure had Mr King taken the trouble to investigate the problem for himself he would have realised how relatively simple it is to deal with the problem. It does not need drainage works unless a longer term solution is necessary should the refurbishment not progress.
Therefore, as Roy King by his own response to Ashley Packer is aware of this problem I can only presume that either he has chosen to ignore it to the inconvenience of supporters, or he is just negligent in discharging his duties!
I therefore wish to register a formal complaint regarding the standing water on the New Road concourse and the lack of any attempt by the appropriate person(s) to professionally and adequately deal with the situation.
Your assurances will be appreciated that the appropriate action has been taken against whoever should have dealt with this problem and that at future matches any standing water will be adequately dealt with.
Regards, etc
