Roy Woolsey RIP

Apologies if this appears twice I am all over the place. I have to report the death of my brother Roy in Thailand yesterday. Made worse by the fact I do not know why , where or how. Roy was not a happy person but I think found happiness for the last few years of his life in Thailand. He was my brother but I was also his surrogate father. I hope he finds now the happiness that was so hard to find in life.

Roy Woolsey RIP

Very sad news. May he rest in peace. Had some great times many years ago with a few lads, Roy and of course his great mate Bernie

Hope whatever news does come of it makes things easier not worse.

RIP Roy

Oh that is very sad, so sorry rodders. Such a sweet lovely funny bloke. As nocoat says many of us had some great and crazy times with Roy & Bernie for years all over the country. Rest in peace mate.

Yes there is. Still do so in his memory. RIP and sorry for your loss.

RIP to a fellow Bee ?

Roy Woolsey RIP

Truly sorry to hear this Rod.
Roy was a real character and always great company. He was never really the same after Bernie died and pretty much fell out of love with the Bees quite soon after that.
Lost touch since the end of season Luton game when we won the title and they went out of the league, he brought his future wife (Anne?) with him but I never saw him again after that.

Very sorry for your loss,

RIP Roy

RIP Roy. Knew Roy through Bernie, and we would talk about music at away games, he was a big fan of Emmylou Harris I seem to recall.
thoughts are with you Rodders.

Same. Nothing more to be said. RIP Roy.

This will help nobody except me however: Roy was let down in life unintentionally by our father and mother and possibly by me. We had a father who I am sure cared but was unable to show his emotions. When Roy had problems at School at age 13 my father was unable to cope and our father was content to have Roy sent to a boarding school for " maladjusted " children. This defined the rest of his life. Roy's interest in Brentford emanated whilst he was away from me telling him about the Bees. I do not blame my father for reasons said earlier but I was his brother and father. I bought his first cricket bat, took him to his first football match , bought him his first Train set. Even in later life sorted things out for him as far as I could whilst he was in Thailand.

Roy Woolsey RIP

Very sad news Rodders.

It must be especially hard as you were brother and Father to Roy. To lose him and not know why or how makes it even sadder.

Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time as Roy joins the many Bees watching the team from above.

Rest In Peace Roy.

Roy Woolsey RIP

Very sad news mate, particularly as I was only asking after him the other day. There will be a bear hug and a booming “who’s your favourite football team” at the pearly gates awaiting Roy.

Roy Woolsey RIP

RIP Roy, hope you get some answers to your questions soon rodders.

Oh no - Roy, as in Roy and Bernie? Terribly sad news, I can picture him so clearly. Had great times with him years back at so many away games. Very sad news. RIP.

I can’t private message you as the GPG says you can’t receive comms that way, but I can advise you on how to get further info if that’s what you’re after. Pls private message me if that’d help you at this terrible time for you and the family.

That is very sad news. Remember him as Bernie's buddy of course but before that on the supporters' coach to away games in the 1969-1972 period. Smashing chap.

RIP Roy

Roy Woolsey RIP

I have tried to send a number of you private messages but they don't seem to go. Thanks for condolences and offers of help I will be in touch. Still trying to get my head round the fact that I was speaking to him on Wednesday.

Rodders - I’ll put this here to save time as you try and sort PMs.

First thing - if you haven’t yet done it please call the Foreign Office tonight on 020 7008 1500.

It’s a 24/7 manned line. It’s there to help Brits whose relatives are/were overseas. They will want as much info as you can give them on Roy (full name, date of birth, last known address in Thailand etc etc). They will then enter this info on a database which will be accessed first thing in the morning by the embassy in Bangkok, who will then take action.

Contacting the FCO tonight will mean this gets looked at first off, Monday morning. If you leave it there’s a risk nothing will get done until Tuesday, given the time difference between here and Thailand (6 hours).

Getting it into the FCO system will also mean you’ll get appointed a London-based point of contact who you’ll be able to speak directly to going forward. They will be able to advise you on Thai procedures, repatriation, etc etc and act as a liaison between you and the Embassy in Bangkok. There’s no point contacting the Embassy direct as they will refer you back to the London office, given that you are in the UK. Sadly, they handle a huge number of this kind of case every year so know what they are talking about, and are fully trained.

After you’ve contacted the FCO I would ask that you read their guide on initial steps to take for a Death Abroad. You can access this at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coping-with-death-abroad/death-abroad-initial-steps

This will give you a quick idea of what will unfold over the following days, and how the FCO/Embassy can help you - and where their remit doesn’t run to.

I hope this helps for now. If you have other questions, pls ping them via a PM.

Again, sorry for your loss. I hope the messages of fond remembrance of Roy from his old mates here give you some comfort at this very sad time.

RIP Roy.

A warm and friendly character

Condolenses to friends and family

Roy Woolsey RIP

RIP in memory of a fellow Bee, and sincere condolences.

Brilliant helpful advice from “Silly Hat", which all goes to show the mutual support at tough times that is so often available on here.

Roy Woolsey RIP

Have received further news Roy died of a heart attack. He had gone to the local town as somebody he knew was opening a new Bar. Not sure whether he ever got to the Bar but died alone in a Hotel room.

Thanks so much "Silly Hat"! for your helpful suggestions but it seems that a local chap originating from Australia is on the case has sorted things locally and with British Embassy. His wife is or has collected his body and will be bringing him back to their home in preparation for the funeral.

Roy Woolsey RIP

:( not sure that’s the most comforting news for you. Thanks for the update .

Hope he had one final beer up at the New bar before it happened .

Roy Woolsey RIP

Sorry for this but need to let it out.Just had some photos from his ex wife. It had been a bad dream up until now but the photos made me cry lots as I realised it was all real..
