great noise frm the bees fans today. real heart in mouth game.
julian was brilliant 5-6 topr drawer saves.
Roget and sonko were both solid, good to c wally and roget hugging at the end.
rougier= we have to keep him, great skill always got a cross in when it looked impossible.
Smith= a bit disappointing really, struggled with distribution.
overall good battle, hopefully get us on our way.
interesting decision fro wally between julian and Smithy.
Great reception for the boys and staff at the end and they responded well.

What a gutsy performance. Alan Julian was awesome. But for a few dodgy moments towards the end of the half we were much the better side in the first period. R & D are a counter-attacking team and break very quickly.
Second half we were under considerable pressure but stood up to it well, although we defended deeply and created a lot oo our problems by poor distribution from the back.
Tommy Wright: Bloody hell! This kid has got genuine pace and I can see him frightening the life out of many a defender.
Celebration at the end was good with all the players, fans and Wally joining in. Even looked like Wally and Leo have kissed and made up. 800 bees there today, apparently. But Looked more to me - don't know where another 600 people were supposed to fit in our allocated part of the stand.
Lets hope this isn't a false dawn. onwards and upwards!

Glad to hear Julian had a good game.
I was very critical of him last week, but am pleased to eat my words.
Now let's hope we can get 4 or more points from the 2 home games and get ourselves a little further from the danger zone

Massive away support with big noise at times. Probably 2 chances all game - the goal and a Tommy Wright header near the end. Relentless home pressure with Onandi Lowe having 20 headers at goal. Alan Julian was utterly superb, a truly Smith-like performance. I had £15 on Hunt to score 1st at 20-1, so all in all a blinding day.
However, I'll enjoy the day but don't be mislead, we battled like mad but the space allowed to Rushden at times was farcical.

We dug this win out against a strongish side but who cares, a fabulous afternoon, what away games are about.
Big and vocal away support seem to make a difference as we were up for it from the off. Sonko and Roget ( his best game in a Bees shirt?) were back in form.........we therefore did'nt give any silly first half goals away for the first time and hey its a different game. Then we score first from what looked like a deflected goal from Hunt and confidence started oozing through the team.
Second half we were "backs to the wall" at times bit like some of those early season games last year but we held on with more astute defending than recently and it has to be said a sensational display by Julian with two or three top draw saves and a good all round display of keeping, we have another star in the making methinks.
Hutch and May had decent games and Wright looks a Vine with energy so could be a good signing. Rougier swings between being a liability to brilliant with nothing in between it seems but he is fun to watch although how many times did he take one touch too many............!
Loved the ending when Wally, the team and the 826 fans celebrated like we'd won promotion, but why not we deserved it after this season's start. I assume after Wally and Roget did a bow together that they've kissed and made up??

Great day out - real battling perormance. Hunty looked more like his old self, seemed to respond well to taking the Captain's armband. Anyone know why Dobbo didn't play?
Thought May looked very heavy legged in the second half and was pleased when Wally freshened it up by taking nhim off and bringing on a sharp looking Wright. O'Connor worked his socks off as usual but the real difference was the outstanding displays by Sonko, Roget and Julian.

It was a scrappy game, and as per usual we created very little. We came to defend and nick a goal and this time that is exactly what we did. Roget went quite some way to redeeming himself with an immense performance, Sonko played well too. As mentioned by others Julian pulled off a couple of world class saves. I thought Rougier had a good game too, nobody else really stood out - but it was real backs to the wall stuff - especially the last 15 minutes which was the most exciting quarter of an hour of the season so far.
I've got no problem playing like this away from home - so long as we try and create at home and take the game to the opposition
Very excited to see some more of Tommy Wright, the 20 minutes he was on, showed that he might just be a cracking signing.
Well done Wally & the lads - you've made my weekend. We've still got a HELL of a long way to go, and WILL be punished by better sides - Rushden were piss poor - and we weren't exactly great but we were much more organised today - it's a start, and hopefully gives us a platform to build on, and get the lads confidence up.

Huge result for the lads, and looking at the table (we're 21st) we really needed it to stay in touch.
A lot of air was cleared earlier in the week as Wally learned that the Bees supporters were after answers, rather than simply his head on a plate. If that meeting bought wally a couple of games, this result has bought several. Now we can't screw it all up by losing our next home match Brentford!

Not really much to add re: events in the match but just thought I'd add a couple of obversations of mine.
Firstly would like to say the defence in particular Julian and Sonko were immense and full marks to all of them who worked there bloody socks off. Not only did they soak up all the pressure they also defended the set pieces so well it was untrue it was clear they have been working on that really hard.
The midfield with the exception of Rougier (my man of the match he was everywhere) however I felt were disapointing and minus the goal from Hunt I felt the other 3 were fairly annoymous.
O'Connor and May did very well. However it was Wright who made the biggest impression not only did he look sharp the most impressive thing was the way he closed down the defenders when he came on. This was a god send as it finally ended a procession of events where the defence kept clearing it only to get over run again as the ball simply returned straight away.
So my ratings were
