Dobbo was injured - as I'm sure has been discussed elsewhere. Matty Somner played right back.

I have not seen any discussions on it, although I have been busy over the past two days.

The boys done good.

Not a great footballing display but a battling performance.

Cant truly say we deserved the points but we got 'em and thats what counts.

Julian was excellent - probably kept us in the game single handed at times.

Rougier had a good game too. O Connor worked hard without being inspired.

I'm looking forward to voting for Tommy Wright as MOM on Tuesday night, he looks as though he might be pretty useful. I hope Wally doesn't adopt his "cant change a winning team" stance and leave him on the bench or he'll probably just f*** off back to Leicester just as the two Chelski triallists have done.

Tommy Wright must start on Tuesday.:)

We may have got the result but the performance overall was dire.

They must wonder how they didn't get a hat full!!

Julian made up for last week, but the reality is we were awful.

There's always one.............:nono:   :nono:

Huge result for the lads, and looking at the table (we're 21st) we really needed it to stay in touch.

I prefer to see it as tied for 19th!!! Let's go you Reds!!!!!

A brilliant display solid defending under pressure.

Tommy Wright looked brilliant.

The fans were superb

Twenty four shots by R&D - talk about 'backs to the wall'!! But 6 out of 7 on target is a good sign. It ain't quantity....

Well done to Wally and the whole extented Bees community. Building from here!!

Excellent day out. Rushden's ground is very tidy - even have flowerbeds outside the main stand but it looked pretty full with 4,300 people in it. Good turnout of Bees fans under the circumstances and the love in between the fans and team at the end was worth the trip on its own.

We rode out luck at times as the attempts on goal count shows. Rusden were awful I thought - not sure how they are that high up the league if they play that every week.

Julian had the best game I have seen him play and Roget redeemed himself after last week's fiasco. I though O'Connor played well but would have swapped him and Rougier over. Tommy Wright looked the part in the short time he was on but both full backs were dodgy even with Somner playing in his 'natural' position.

At least we can look forward to Tuesday and Saturday with a bit more confidence now

Not much to add, great day out :bound:  :drunk:

and for the FIRST time this season we can say great support in NUMBERS as well as the usual great vocals

How good was julian! :love2: :love2:

And Wright looks like he could be double good

Rushden Updates & Match Reports

Their number 2 getting stick for the throw ins that he threw straight out of play was quality.
Also worth mentioning that although they had numerous shots at goal a lot of these were from long range and missed by absolute miles.

people i think that yesterday result will be the turn around in the season for the bees and i think that everybody should get behind the team from now on and stop slagging the team off. The reds r going up we shall not be moved

Superb support and an excellent defensive performence.
Restored my faith in the world:)

Can I have some of the drugs that you are on please!??

Great vocal support made the difference in a tight game that was never going to have more than a goal in it.

We couldn't have complained if they'd got an equaliser, but fortunately they didn't.

Defence improved a bit, certainly Sonko and Roget's looked more on the same wavlength than recently. Somner wasn't as good at RB as he is at CB, but you could have predicted that. Controversial view maybe, but I still think he was an improvemnt on Dobbo. Didn't get caught upfield as often.

Midfield still short of bite (Evans must have been injured, not even to be on the bench?).

O'Connor huffs and puffs up front but we lacked pace until Wright came on, their centre-backs won every race easily. Hard one, because Rougier is a better winger than Kev for me (better at beating his man) but O'Connor looks a bit lost up front. Can we try him in centre mid again please.

May did little wrong and Wright's arrival gives us a nice selection headache.

Saturday was the performance of a team struggling to avoid relegation - which is still a big improvement on Plymouth, which was a team playing as though it was already relegated.

Three points on Tuesday and we can have some hope that the improved spirit that was obvious when the players came over to thank the fans can see us back to more like the first half of last season's form rather than the second half's.

Lose and the heads will drop again and its back to square one.

It was Pop Idol, but yes that was quality.
What about the cires of "Get you tits out for the lads"
Priceless

What a great day, more Bees than I thought turned up and the vocal support was brilliant

Phew!!

For once the luck was ours. Hurrah!!

We got a fortunate goal and then soaked up the pressure well. Julian made several good saves - in particular one 4 minutes from time from the dangerous Lowe.

Julian - 8, still looking unsure on crosses but his shot stopping is exemplary

Somner - 7, looked more comfortable on the right, contained Rodney Jack well in the second half

Fieldwick - 7, Growing in confidence

Smith - 7, excellent first half, fought and scapped well in midfield

Hutchinson - 6, As usual was dominant in the air in the last 30 minutes.

Roget - 7, Won back some respect with a very solid display

Sonko - 7, Still raw at times but a much better performance

Rougier - 8, Held the ball up brilliantly, particularly in the second half. A great pro and gave 110%

May - 6, Worked hard in the first period but hardly got a touch in the second

O'Connor - 7, worked tirelessly for his team

Hunt - 6, scored a fortuitous goal but did little else. Tracked back well.

Tommy Wright only came on for a few minutes but looks very promising. Like to see him start tomorrow night.

Nice to spot No Coat (shirt off, wrecked:rolleyes: ) amongst an excellent Bees turnout. A memorable day.

That's the one who puts a realistic voice on a performance that would have seen us lose by 3 or 4 to a better team than R&D is it?

Of course the points are welcome. However, lets not confuse a solid 1 - 0 win, with the backs to the wall performance which is what we saw on Saturday.

If we continue with the same sort of luck then get down the bookies and get a large wedge on automatic promotion!!! ;) ;)

Rushden Updates & Match Reports

In my book, excellent defensive performances from the two CB's and Julian are just as good as a strong attacking display. That does not hide from the fact that we gave the ball away far too much in the middle of the park and this is where Wally should take the plunge and make a couple of tough decisions by dropping Hutchinson and Smith and putting O'Connor and Evans in there.

Rushden Updates & Match Reports

Great defensive performance, fighting for every ball and deserving to keep a clean sheet.

Julian made a few top class saves, Lowe was winning everything from set-pieces, can we please learn to defend them, but Sonko and Roget were pretty decent in the open.

Great numbers and noise fromthe travelling faithful and a great response from the players at the end.

This may or may not be the start of a run but the fixture list is kind for the next few weeks, we must take advantage.

A fantastic day.

COME ON

these next two home games are MASSIVE. four points minimum please.

.... 6 points would really see our season back on track :)

My friend is a Blackpool supporter and he reckons they are absolutely hopeless this year AND we are a bit of a bogey side for them. No less than 3pts tomorrow.

Exactly.

We have 2 home games against sides that aren't anything special, although Hartlepool may be better than we give them credit for.
Either way they are winnable, and so are the 2 away games that follow. This is a massive period for our season.

Superb away support. Thoroughly undeserved three points. Excellent celebrations. Even found a pub by Bedford station where a round of 4 drinks (2 beers, 2 whiskeys) was under £5. Imagine the scenes!!! (go on, try).

I swear none of the rushden fans have rushden shirts on in that first pic. Brook road is a flood of red and white usually :)
