Ryan Peters

Ryan Peters

To nick a few points .............he has to score a few goals  not worry tired defenders  And from what he has produced so far at first team level...................no chancel lol

He scored 2 goals in league 1 and only ever started 2 league games :fishing:

Ryan Peters

He's 19 not 30 FFS. He may not even be fully grown yet. I don't think he's looked the part when I've seen him but we're not in Alex Rhodes territory yet.

Ryan Peters

Peters looked alright against Southampton, but he misses too many chances. The same against Hampton. There is something there... but he is yet to deliver in the 3 years he's been a pro.

Saying that, every player has a bogie ground. Unfortunately for Peters, his is Griffin Park!

Ryan Peters

i agree again we will see it on sat if butcher dares to bring him on

is there something personal here ? pitiful. i'm sure your girlfriend is much happier with him anyway

Ryan Peters

You mean he didn't live up to your expectations when he was 16?!?

Let's give the teenager a chance to grow and develop as a player - might really be something there if he gains a little confidence in himself.

Ryan Peters

he only started to play well after TB started shouting at him from the touchline. we need to give him a chance hes only 19

Ryan Peters

I can confidently say that he is a footballer on merit, and that you're not (almost certainly also on merit). Let's give the, we'll say it again, teenager a chance to gain experience before we decide he's not good enough, ok?

I can confidently say i would have scored at least one of the chances he missed at Hampton when i was 14! :owusu:

Exactly.

That's my point!! I am no footballer, very much on merit, so Peters needs to be finishing these chances sooner rather than later. But maybe that's a little harsh for pre season, as it don't really matter

But i see a pattern emerging of everyone who sees him (Downes?, Allen, Fitz, Rosenior, Butcher) see something in him initially, but soon go back on this and he gets less involved when they realise the end product ain't there.

Saying this, he is young still, so of course i'm not gonna get on his back and let's hopt this is the year he comes good.

Ryan Peters

Give him a few games at this level, and lets see. He is costing us less than a bus driver's salary.

Ryan Peters

Peters did well when he came on against Mansfield, hopefully, he will notch a few goals from the bench later in the season

Ryan Peters

his pace and running gave us an outlet up front. needs to work on what he does with the ball from a standing start, but against tiring slower lower league defenders he could be a useful asset

Ryan Peters

Possibly worth the odd start to see if he could be a nice little surprise this season?

Ryan Peters

He made a difference yesterday when he came on with a bit of much needed pace. As plenty of people have said as well - the boy's only 19. Just cos he's been put in too early over the last few seasons doesn't mean we should write him off yet. Give the lad a chance!

Ryan Peters

The lad is only 19. Still growing and still learning. IMO he's at his best when he comes on for the last 20 mins. The best from this boy is still to come yet.

Ryan Peters

Had one or two decent positions yesterday with the ball at his feet but looked down too much and any chance was gone. FFS run at them Ryan!

Ryan Peters

I have noticed that he looks down at his feet too much and is indecisive when there's a shooting chance, hopefully that will be sorted out on the training ground and he'll come good soon as we need goal scorers. Perfectly acceptable substitute.

Ryan Peters

What he did do well yesterday - and I assume it was because he was told to - was hold the ball in the opposition corner and play triangles with Kev O'C. I was quite worried with 7 minutes to go, Kev going to LB and Peters and Tillen on; our ability to close out games in the last few seasons has been p**s poor but this showed a bit of sense and we spent at least 5 of those minutes within 5 yards of their goal line.

Which is good innit?

Ryan Peters

It's possible that Peters simply didn't fit in with the style of play we were playing i.e. long ball up front and deal with it. Given what jlove says, although I wasn't at yesterday's match, Peters may well play better in a passing side. We shall see this season, as already the football is far more attractive than the route one twaddle we've been served up in recent years.

Ryan Peters

At the moment Peters is an athelete and not a footballer.

Peters has to acquire the skill of creating a 1/2 yard to get a shot away past the defenders block. Maybe a shorter back lift or watching early Defoe videos.;) The amount of times he just tries to shoots and the defender just blocks, he has to be a bit clever.

Also when he does use his pace to beat a player, the finish needs to be clever and not just a straight forward shot, as he hasn`t got the quality finish to find the corner of the net.

Peters is just a cheaper version of Rhodes, but with age on his side.

He's not a player we need for when we're playing hoofball. However a Thorpe/Peters combination could be interesting.

Ryan Peters

Spoke with a Notts County goer after the game and he said he, along with the people near him, was very impressed with him, and he was lightning quick. If Peters can learn to take on players and imrpove his shooting, he could be a really effective super sub...

Did you get her phone number?

Ryan Peters

Didn't Marcus Gayle highlight Peters as a proper prospect for the future. He reakoned he'd reach the Premiership later in his career.

Ryan Peters

I think that Ryan should be given a bit more leeway - he was 20 this week.

We don't need to look any further than John Mousinho to see how a player can improve with ge and experience.

Ryan Peters

his performance was ok I thought, won the penalty, and made a nuisance of himself. People berating his jumping action, he has to make himself as big as possible, and on quite a few occasions he at least pressurised the defender into heading into no man's land. Keep it up Ryan.

He did well when coming on today and caused more problems than Charlie Ide did.

Still lost the ball a little too easily, But suggests he could be a decent sub for us this year.

The ball's up in the air, not 5 yards either side of him. I thought he was poor today and only did one or two things right, but I'm obviously wrong.

i thought it was his best game in a bees shirt...

He had a difficult job being the solo striker having to try and win the long balls. I thought he did well despite the fact I think the way he'll be most effective is to be fed by Thorpe (or another target man). Much improved on recent years.

Ryan Peters

Only seen him once this season (Bristol City and he scared the sh*t out of their defence with his pace and should have won a pen/free kick can't remember if it was in the area or not) and he looks like he could more then do a job for us. Has something you can't teach in pace and that is going to be a very good asset for us this season.

His finishing looks a bit lack luster but we can work on that. Have a feeling once he gets one we might see a more assured Ryan.

Definatley worth a punt on what are probably relatively small wages.

Ryan Peters

I agree he played really well, only thing I wish he could do is stay on his feet, he kept falling over. But to be on his own against some big central defenders (everyones big to him, lol) he done a great job. The more games he can play the better he'll get. :sorted:

Ryan Peters

He might be alright in a 4-3-3 but he's crap on his own up there.

Ryan Peters

What finishing? His speed won us the pen but he was never going to score, was he?

As has been said already, he's worth keeping on the bench for when we need a runner.

Ryan Peters

Peters coming on today rubbed salt into the gaping wound. He is a clown. He had two balls passed to him and both times miscontrolled and managed to ping the ball 5 yards away from himself. Get rid.

I am suprised at this post VTG, you are always so positive and complimentary about Ryan Peters  :D
