Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar

i just want him to get the monkey off his back!! it's been a good few months now

Sachin Tendulkar

What a test match! But what was ashwin doing at the end? 2 from 2 they should have won that.

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar is still seeking a historic 100th international century after being dismissed 27 runs short on the second day of the first Test against Australia in Melbourne
:(

Sachin Tendulkar

He was batting like a superman and aim pig sick he got out in the last over. Was planning to stay up late tonight to see him reach the milestone which is now becoming a millstone.

Sachin Tendulkar

remarkable achievement, regardless of the hoopla of the last few months

Sachin Tendulkar

Shame that it was in a boring ODI against Bangladesh and not a test match at Lords, Mumbai, MCG, etc.

Sachin Tendulkar

I suppose the next target is to get 100 tons in Test Matches, 100 in ODI's.

Sachin Tendulkar

The great man has announced he will retire after his 200th test match against West Indies.

Between him and Bradman as the best batsman of all time, think he probably should have retired a couple of years ago but he deserves the chance to go out on his own terms.

Nice of the BCCI to fix the schedule so that his last test match is at Mumbai ......

Sachin Tendulkar

Great career, great batsman, great person. However should have retired after the WC in 2011. I felt in the last couple of years was more of a hindrance to the future Indian cricket and playing for records.

Just remarkable how long he has played and to average over 50 plus over all these years is fantastic, especially as he has done it against truly world class players. In my eyes the 4th best batsmen the world has ever seen.

WG Grace, Bradman, Lara?

Top three?

Sachin Tendulkar

An Indian fan putting Lara above Tendulkar? Well I never.

Sachin Tendulkar

how dare you, Grace-hater :nono: :D

Sachin Tendulkar

An Indian fan putting Lara above Tendulkar? Well I never.

Both players playing at their peak, it's hard to separate them but I think Lara just edges Sachin.

Sachin however was more consistent and far better ODI player.

Sachin Tendulkar

Bradman, Richards, Lara.

What would your best Test XI of all time be to play a Test at Lord's. You can put in brackets any changes for the 'return' fixture at Eden Gardens.

From what I have seen

Greenidge
Gooch
Lara
Tendulkar
V Richards
Kallis (as the all rounder)
Gilchrist
Warne
Marshall
Waqar
Ambrose

Sachin Tendulkar

wouldn't fancy facing that lot

Sachin Tendulkar

An England XI to face Indian Bees International XI ;)

1 Cook
2 Trescothick
3 Vaughan
4 Gower
5 Pietersen
6 Botham
7 Flintoff
8 Prior
9 Underwood
10 Anderson
11 Willis

Sachin Tendulkar

WP you need more than 5 bowlers and 2 of them all rounders to beat my team ??

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin's last test match starting tomorrow.

Great batsmen and his batting between 1996-2002 and 2008-2010 was simply amazing.

Good to actually seeing a test match in India sell out …. :fishing:

Sachin Tendulkar

Hasn't there been some big mess with the ticket sales? Something about only being available online and the website crashing due to demand?

Given his form in the last few years and some very good batsmen coming through I don't actually think India will miss him much, especially at home.

But one of the greats no doubt, a match winning hundred would be the best way to bow out.

Yep sure has - a small percentage of tickets being sold to the 'common' man who are the ones that have supported him. If you know someone who knows someone then you got a ticket.

On form Sachin would not have been picked in the last two years so yep won't be missed in that aspect. It's actually remarkable the only batsmen that will tour England next summer that was in the side when we 'narrowly' lost 4-0 last time out in England will be Kohli. The replacements are all currently doing well and you can argue India will have a stronger batting line up. The bigger question is whether they can do it outside India.

Sachin Tendulkar

Stato alert, out of the 200 test matches he has played in India have won the toss 100 times and lost it 100 times

Sachin Tendulkar

It would be fitting in a way if the second greatest batsman of all time emulated the greatest with a DUCK in his final innings.

Sachin Tendulkar

Wouldn't fancy being the Umpire in this, a dodgy LBW decision would not be appreciated by the masses !!!!

Think Sachin was relieved Steve Bucknor has retired from umpiring. Gave Sachin one of the worst LBW decisions of all time.

Sachin Tendulkar

If you think it is out you give out. Nothing else too it.

I know that, you know that but a few thousand Indian supporters might beg to differ!!!

What a side, mine would be very similar and I'd probably swap Clive Lloyd in for Kallis and Lillee or Hadlee in for Ambrose.

I'd have to find a place for Geoffrey and Gooch as openers and Alan Knott rather than Prior but it's still a great side.

Sachin Tendulkar

Out for 74. His biggest worry will be India's lead growing so much might mean he doesn't get a bat in the 2nd innings!

Sachin Tendulkar

nah... as much as i'm sure he'd have wanted to go out on a century, i guess he'll be satisfied to have gone out on a good score.

i guess the fairytale end is Windies just sneaking by the India total, so that Sachin can open and hit the winning runs...

Sachin Tendulkar

That would be interesting! Apparently in his 200 test matches he's only opened the batting once!

Sachin Tendulkar

lol i'm looking in my crystal ball.... 10 to win, Sachin and Whoever open.... Windies wicketkeeper opens the bowling... a farcical pantomime for four overs as Whoever desperately tries to ensure he doesn't accidentally score the winning runs

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin won't bat again - game will be over just after lunchtime tomorrow.

I did find it sad that once Sachin got out, half the stadium emptied, especially during the afternoon and evening sessions. Rohit Sharma played a superb innings. That's test cricket for you though in India.

I can't think of anyone currently playing (with the exception of Kallis) who can be classed as one of test cricket's truly 'Greats'. Sachin truly was the last one and will be missed.

Sachin Tendulkar

I can vaguely remember Hadlee but never saw Lillee play. What I liked about Ambrose, no verbals just the stare and if anyone got him angry, as the Aussies once found out then he was simply lethal.
