Sack them or Back them

FACTS

  • We are now 4, yes 4, points away from the bottom two.
  • If we lose to Wrexham the previously woeful Welshmen will be 1 point behind us.
  • We then go to MK Dons - enough said.
  • We are second bottom of the table on current form.
  • If that continues, we will be bottom 2 by the end of the year.
  • We have not scored for 5 matches.
  • We have not scored more than 2 goals in a match this season
  • We average less than a goal and a point a game
  • Our current appalling run is not our worst of the season
  • We cannot attract more than 4000 into the ground.
  • If we don't change managers now, we will screw up our chances in the January window.
  • The recent loan deadline saw us sign two players - one can't make the 16, the other doesn't want to
  • I'm not entirely sure about this but I don't think we've played the same 11 in two consecutive games

I conclude that there is no justifiable reason to keep the current management team.

Whats your point?

So how many on the board are Brentford supporters and how many are not (in your opinion)?
Yours is a totally irrelevant question, It doesn't matter if the entire board are Brentford supporters or if they are card carrying members of Dukla Prague, they are incompetent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When Butcher was appointed it did not appear to be a bad decision at the time, although the reports from some of our Aussie Bees were not too encouraging about his spell in Sydney. However, this was an England legend a man mountain who would surely motivate and bring out real fighting spirit in his players. No doubt his new signings would be very much in the Butcher mould. So Mackie was signed as our new captain, and several small or lightweight players were also signed. Our great prospect Charlie Ide was played on his own up front at the start of the season and he has failed to bring out the best in him. Teams started to realise just how weak we were with our soft midfield and weak defence, and Griffin Park is now a place to expect 3 points if you are the visiting team. The crowd is falling away. The Board does nothing..........we are in freefall. R.I.P.

I have to disagree. Terry Buthcher`s managerial career was not impressive, and was not, in my opinion, a positive move. Nothing against the bloke, but this is MY CLUB, and .............oh I don`t know.........am so pissed off I can`t think straight. Was I the only person that did not rate our managerial appointment? This hurts folks.

Sack them or Back them

Has to be Butcher and Scott out. I've always worried that the former could be sacked and the latter kept

i'm hoping the recent disasterous cheapskate appointment from
within of scott fitzgerald will encourage the board to go for
real experience and a completely fresh start

with all due respect, far too big a job for andy scott

I am less concerned if AS stays or goes, a coach at a club at this level is very much the assistant.

We need a new man who knows his stuff at this level and knows players to get in if necessary.

Wholesale changes in January are unlikely unless he is very good at moving players so we need someone who will work with core squad as it is.

If it is not MA then it needs to be someone in the same mould.

Sack them or Back them

I can't believe the board has bottled this, so far, so bad.

Butcher out!!!!

Sack them or Back them

after reading his post match thing, im gonna give them a chance. For those who went know that we completely deserved that match, the tactics were correct, as was the team selection. He's talked about the weaknesses, which i agree with, and anyways, he is correct, this club needs stability. We're not getting relegated, i'll bet money with anybody who disagrees, and for the time being, i think he should stay.

Sack them or Back them

we can't keep giving them chances. The trouble being is even if we doing something remarkable next week and pick up a point, as soon as the next defeat comes, and the one after that, all the calls for his head will begin again. Unfortunately the pair of them have lost 75% of the crowd, and that % is getting bigger by the day.

Turrah the pair of you, god bless, it's been emotional.....very bloody emotional.

Are you Andy Scott?

What a total pile of sh*te you talk.

Yes the tactics marked a return to sanity, no 43111 or whatever never ever usually works.

The selection was forced on him, Magic Mackie was injured, Emmanual refuses to play for him, same with the Forest striker. He's forced to play Smith (who he's left out all season) after yet another row with the players.

This wasn't inspiration, but desperation, bit like McClaren with bloody Heskey.

In case you missed it, we lost. To Grimsby.

How do you think we'll do at MK????

On current form we ARE being relegated, we've lost the las SIX games, we haven' t scored in FIVE!

Wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Butcher stays I'll have a a few hundred on us going down.

I disagree, a football manager is judged by results, it's a simple as that. If we had been losing 3-2 I could say we've been unlucky, but that's not the case, he has made poor signings. Signing Thorpe and Mackie and stitching us up with them for 2 years is not acceptable.

If anyone thinks Butcher has got what it takes I suggest you ask supporters of the 4 clubs he has managed of which 3 have sacked him what they think.

His appointment was made by a pair of clowns who are now trying to redeem themselves by claiming a victory with the Lionel Blair project. Does anyone really believe Dyke or Dickens will be around when / if the stadium is EVER built ?

I don't see why Butcher should stay, he has no reason to be kept on. He already admitted in public that he wasn't a man motivator. He's also made a fair few mindnumbingly stupid PR blunders in the last few weeks.
I would be willing to bet good money that it was actually Matt Heywood who gave everyone a b***ocking and motivated them before this match. I'm also willing to bet money that Butcher didn't pick the team.
He may well have the backing of the board but he appears to have lost the two most important things, the dressing room and the fans. If the players don't respect him and the fans aren't going to come back until he's gone, there's only one solution.
If Butcher really does have the backing of the board, I wonder how close that vote was.

Sack them or Back them

... after yet another row with the players.

Do you want him to have a love-in with them? If there ever was a "row with the players", it seemed to work on Saturday; there was more effort than we've seen all season... with the same end result, I'll admit.

Totally agree with all of the above.

Butcher must go if he has any conscience.

He is making us the laughing stock of the football world.

Sack them or Back them

I totally agree with Lesbeeavinu and VTG. Finally some sensible discussion rather than spiteful negative posts of which I admit I have also been guilty off. It's hard not to when you are suffering the dreadful excuse for football we are being subjected to watching week in week out. I don't want to see a new manager every 6 months but in the football world it is results that count not ideas and if the man in charge has not got the results then he has to go. I am sure past managers have had equally grand ideas for the future but have ultimately fallen on their sword over results. Not only that, but fans will not come to watch that rubbish and will only return if a new man is in place with a hope that it will be totally different.

Sack them or Back them

But we have never had anything this bad in my lifetime, I take on board that others have failed but they were mainly failures to get us up from the division above. We flirted with relegation a few times and once accepted it but we have always matched teams who seem to have more money and from much bigger areas, ie Northamptonshire has 295k + people in it and only themselves, a recent introduction of Rushden & Diamonds and Kettering to cater for. We have always been fighters and although the big boys don't know anything about us and never have I get the impression that smaller sides admire our fighting spirit and the fact that we always put out a side with spirit and that were hard to beat. Some Brummie bloke I know calls us that tiny London side who wouldn't feck off. However we are on a spiral that is now out of control and I'm afraid that TB is an embarassment and not the man to lead us out of it, every week is 3 points lost and we are losing to teams that are as equally crap or so their league positions suggest. Not gaining any points from home games against Morecambe and Grimsby is criminal and should really be the end, we can't afford to lose to Wrexham and this is highly likely with him in control.

Sack them or Back them

We have lost everything that we had worked so hard to build up.

- a side that never knew when it was beaten

- a side that punched way above its weight

- a team that opponents hated to play against

- a ground that opponents hated to visit

- a team with great spirit that played for each other

- a team that was well organised

- a team that had a winning combination of pace and power

- a team that scored heavily from set pieces

- a team filled with young players bought for a song who were likely to make their name and earn us transfer income

- a team we were proud to support

We have lost every one of the above over the past 18 months and I see no sign whatsoever that any of them are even close to returning.

I hate the prospect of sacking yet another manager but we have to find the man who can restore at least some of these characteristics.

Sorry, what?

We were woeful, the worst of two very poor teams. The players look like they have no clue what they are supposed to be doing on the pitch, and that can only stem from the manager. They're hardly the most talented bunch but a good manager gets the best of even limited players by having them well drilled and knowing their jobs.

We are sliding inexorably to being embroiled in a second relegation battle in two seasons, and when the threat of consecutive relegations is involved it tends to weigh over a whole club more than ever. We need to grasp the nettle and address this now or risk being relegated to non-league.

Sack them or Back them

I don't want this to become personal. TB and AS are decent guys, I'm sure. However, they are not up to the task. FFS the clock is ticking and before we know it we'll have run out of opportunities to save our league status. We cannot afford to give them another game in charge. Somebody, please do what's necessary.

Sack them or Back them

If a new manager is to have any chance of turning it around, he has to be in place before Christmas in order to sign players in the Jan window (as far as our budget allows). I wouldn't trust TB to spend my worst enemy's money

Sack them or Back them

if i have to read one more set of sh*te from that man saying only the ones who like him are "genuine" fans i could see myself going up there and punching his lights out myself. what a c**t.
